We made reservations on September 9th for Thanksgiving week for 11 people - THE RESTAURANT CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION THE NIGHT BEFORE - for their daughter's wedding. You could have emailed us a few weeks ago so we could have made alternative plans!!! We will share our experience with everyone we know visiting San Antonio and suggest they avoid TheGranary and go to other restaurants in the Pearl. So disappointing. Once the restaurant knew they were closed for the week - they should have notified all guests and removed themselves from Open Table. Adding to all this, the cancellation text was abrupt and generic. Poor form.

With a limited menu, should keep everything available. The Cobb salad was not available and it was only 2 pm Saturday. Not sure what the plan was for the rest of the weekend. No other salads were offered.

While some believe that barbecue is only a Texas or American thing... it is a truly global method for preparing proteins (and veggies too) shared by cultures everywhere. The Granary's fusion of these international flavors, approaches, and dishes make it a truly unique and elevated experience. And to honor their local heritage... the Texas toast and brisket offerings stand head and shoulders above all competitors.

We went to try out this place because of a tv show that recommendation this place. I was so excited about their Ramen because I love Ramen. When I received my bowl it looked presentable and delicious but the flavor was not there. It was the worst Ramen I’ve ever had. Don’t go here for BBQ, you can find better BBQ in town.

The Granary’s ambience reflects its location— the former home of the Pearl cooper. Solid tables and seating with no backs don’t coddle you. But we received attentive service with good menu explanations. The global bbq theme is attractive. We shared starters, including a tasty wilted salad. The scallops had no bbq element, though well prepared, but the burnt end pasta with Parmesan showed inventiveness. Good dining.

This was our first time visiting San Antonio and it was an awesome experience. My husband and I dined at Granary on our last day in San Antonio and wished we had gone sooner. The whole fish, ribs, chicharron and the Brussels sprouts are a must! Also the Texas planters punch was really good. We will definitely go back on our next visit to San Antonio.

There was no record of our confirmed reservation when we arrived. My wife orders salmon, it had a fishy smell and was over cooked, my greek ribs were cooked ok, a little tough for ribs, but not a good recipe, a strong sauce, an unpleasant flavour. My mother in law said her stuffed pork chop was tough . The waitress was very good and did what she could to try and make it right. This was an unfortunate experience, we have been to the Granary many times in the past, they have normally been good meals.

Pros: I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. I thought the flavor of the food was outstanding.
Cons: I didn’t care for the music selection or how loud the music was. The portions were quite small for the price. No substitutions were allowed on the menu which was a turnoff to one individual of my party.

BBQ was excellent. Service was also. This would have been 5 stars if the cole slaw had been better. It was virtually tasteless almost as if an ingredient or spice had been left out. Still I would definitely return as this was the best brisket I’ve had in a while.

Service was fantastic! She was incredibly helpful and attentive. Food was amazing, and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is the chicharons were not seasoned very well. The top pieces had everything, leaving the bottom layer bland.

After enjoying sister restaurant, Fontaine’s Southern Diner & Bar, last weekend, we finally tried The Granary for dinner tonight. We had a reservation for 6 PM, but we likely didn’t need it. The restaurant slowly filled up while we were there. The food, beverages, and service were great. Our server (Deziree) was very attentive & helpful with recommendations - all of which were delicious. Courses & drink refills were appropriately paced. We shared Texas Toast (thick sliced house-made buttermilk bread, barbecue butter, cracked black pepper), grilled beets (served with beet cracklin’, horseradish cream, dill), and a grilled tomato salad. For dinner, I had the Duroc St. Louis pork ribs with house mop sauce, and my husband had the 44 Farms Beef Clod (served on a tomato caramel sauce, topped with coffee quinoa crunch, and accompanied by pickled celery & “cornbread”). For dessert, we shared the strawberry ice box pie. For our beverages, my husband had the Cooper’s Old Fashion (which is made with El Dorado 12 yr. rum), and I had the Brown Martini (vodka, coffee liqueur, cold brew, & simple syrup). I’m excited to return for brunch, which is available Saturday & Sunday!

We were a group of 6. Many in our group were less than pleased as Granary is clearly not "Texas BBQ" - the primary exception that would make any BBQ joint very proud was the outstanding Texas Toast. While I appreciated the creativity of the menu and very nice beer selection, this was an overall miss for our group. If you are looking for a unique (but overpriced) experience in a hip area than this is for you. Hotel Emma is a short walk away and not to be missed.

Our waiter was fantastic.
The person who dropped of one of the plates was rude and condescending. She should have stayed home.
The brioche bread was so hard to cut and the brisket was horrible. Serving potatoe salad isn't a brunch item and it looked gross.
The freshly squeezed OJ was delicious however it was room temperature and not very enjoyable. Not to mention it was a very small amount.
I won't be returning and I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I chose The Granary for their location and brunch offerings. The menu’s variety was enough to satisfy all the palates in our group. The pancakes and brisket sandwich were SO GOOD! I loved the homey-feel of the restaurant and all of the waitstaff worked together to create a pleasurable dining experience for customers. After brunch, we walked to Pearl Brewery to shop.

Absolutely atrocious service. Nice people, decent food but it took well over an hour to get our meal after ordering. I have no idea how this made the Texas Monthly Top 50 list - the food was fair at best. EVERYONE waited well over an hour. Maybe it's just slow in TX but this place would be out of business in 2 weeks if it were in Chicago. Too bad. Cool space and nice people.

Excellent BBQ top quality meat. Clearly the best brisket ribs and pulled pork we’ve ever had. Nothing was overpowering and yet totally flavorful. You’ve gotta know what you’re doing to pull that off. Sides are also all totally worth ordering. Had lunch and dinner there that’s how good this place is! Wonderful setting in a beautifully restored Victorian. Try and leave some room for the banana cream pie or strawberry pie if on the menu.

First time in San Antonio and I was so impressed with my experience at The Granary. The atmosphere was nice, the decor was great, and the service was excellent. The food though... outstanding! Our server’s recommendation of the homemade buttermilk Texas toast was spot on. The ribs were easily some of the best I’ve ever had! Truly excellent meal!

The first round of brisket that we ordered was a bit dry, and the second batch was very good. Should have been good both times. The menu wasnt quite what we saw at the website. The food was good, but I think the side orders could be better and have more variety. The overall experience, food and Pearl ambiance is well worth the visit, but a lot of room to improve.

This was our first visit to The Granary. We honestly went in with limited expectations outside of service. The food was different and delicious. Pairings were interesting and nothing that w'd think of in our own cooking life. I would highly recommend The Granary to anyone that is a fan of smoke foods with a twist. IN addition to the delicious and unique food choices, the atmosphere and customer service was excellent. You won't be disappointed

This was our first time at The Granary since they introduced their new menu. Like that they have a bar and cocktails now as well as beers.
The food tasted great. A few hiccups - but nothing major.
We started with fritters - delicious, light appetizer. There were four of us for dinner - two ordered ribs, one ordered beef clod and another beef brisket with kimchi. Dinners came out at different times - first both ribs (but one had 6 and one 4 which seemed odd), five minutes later the brisket, then the brussel sprouts, then about another 10 minutes later the beef.

Maybe it was an off night or they're just getting the hang of doing table service this way.

It all tasted great, just made for a slightly "off" dining experience. We'll be back for another try though.

Our waitress was very attentive, but we were very underwhelmed by the food. The Thai brisket was over salted, as were the mushrooms. The Brussels Sporuts and the Texas toast were very tasty. For the price and reputation, we expected a lot more. We likely won’t be back for dinner.
