We had eaten here on New Year's Eve for lunch and had a great meal. Brought my in-laws for lunch and instead of the homemade biscuits that we had previously, we were given rolls. We questioned our server and he said that Sunday, 1/21, would be the last day they would be open and the biscuits were gone. There was no indication whatsoever that they were closing on the website nor their Facebook page. On Monday, on the Fearrington FB page, there was a letter stating that The Granary was closing and that a deli type of eatery was moving across the way to take it's place.
Sorry to hear it is closing. it has been a favorite for years.
It was absolutely perfect, could not have been better. From the minute we walked in the front door everyone took excellent care of us for our group of five special "surprise" occasion. Our server was wonderful, food was the best, we must have had the best table in the place, in a sunny room by a window overlooking the famous belted cows and belted goats. It was an occasion we will never forget. Thank you, thank you so very much.
Food was good. Drinks were ok - nothing special. Service was good, a bit slow considering the place wasn’t that packed. Loved their burger and the Brussels sprouts are to die for!
We were dining at the Granary for brunch. Our server was attentive and our meals were served reasonably promptly. Unfortunately, the warm portions of each of our entrees arrived at nearly room temperature. It seemed like our entrees had been sitting out for a while before they were served. Nevertheless, the entrees were tasty.
George's Bloody Mary's were paired well with some of the items on the new fall menu. The cauliflower soup was superb and those awesome biscuits were the perfect accompaniment. The eggs Benedict with salmon needed a bit more Hollandaise for my taste but the eggs were perfectly poached and delicious. Lunch at the Granary is always relaxing and enjoyable.

The shrimp and grits was good, not as good as Crooks in Chapel Hill.
Mussels pretty good, nice broth, good bread
Twice baked soufflée quite good, nice bread (like a brioche)
Oyster salad: Avoid, I would not get this again. Salad part was ok but the oysters were encased in a brittle greasy tasteless cocoon and the actual oysters seemed to have disappeared pretty much, not much left, maybe from so much cooking to make the fancy crisp cocoon.
We were served butter but no bread, not sure why. Maybe you have to pay extra for bread.
Outstanding food - the shrimp & grits is the BEST we've ever had, anywhere. House wine (red) was really excellent as well. Short wait for meal, a little noisy but acceptable.
It was thanksgiving lunch, so turkey and all the food was average , certainly not gourmet the turkey itself was fine the sides dish were mediocre, dry mac and cheese, super dry brussels sprouts
Great ambiance , food and service. Nice get together location for lunch and shopping.
