Located across the street from Historic Rocky Mountain College on Poly Drive, The Granary has been a landmark restaurant in Billings, MT for nearly 50 years! Originally built in 1935, the Granary served as the milling department for Billings Polytechnic Institute until World War II when they closed the doors.

The recent remodel in 2022 breathes new life into a historic building. Accents of rough cut timbers and cold rolled steel run throughout the Dining room and Bar giving the building a modern feel while keeping the spirit of Billings History alive.

The waitress gave us suggestions. The cioppino (seafood stew) had very little seafood in it and a lot of tomatoes-more like pasta sauce. We were given a cracker to open any crab that wasn’t even in there. The Granary pasta dish was supposed to have shrimp we thought but there were none. It was tasty. The red snapper was just ok. Definitely edible but not incredible. Brussel sprouts were amazing.

Good place to eat. My souvlaki was over cooked (steak). My girlfriend ordered sparkling water, just got spring water. Couldn’t get a dinner reservation till 8pm but when we showed up at 745 there was hardly anyone in there (valentines dinner) good service and appearance though.

Over priced and food was not great. Server was very nice and kept asking how our food was but we didn't have the heart to tell her the food was not good. Side of vegetables was the best thing we ordered. Second time we tried this place and disappointed, again.

We had a table of 4 and great service from your staff. Good food will be back. Only suggestion is for your meals come with sides- shouldn’t be at an additional cost.

The new bar is beautiful! We were seated by the pass through which was congested all night with employees talking to other employees in passing. Along with food & drinks being brought out it was quite chaotic & loud. Food arrived very quickly and was lukewarm. The menus we had seen online were different then the ones we saw in the restaurant which was confusing. Our Waiter was very good and responded quickly to our requests. I forget his name. He was young & thin. Thank you!

This definitely one of the better upscale restaurants in Billings. Although they are not quite as the same as their sister restaurant, Buffalo Block, I had a very good dining experience. The seafood dishes taste fresh and are well done.

The food is excellent and can be a culinary adventure if you so desire. Service is still a little off but not unexpected since the opening occurred a short time ago. With seasoning will be a great alternate to Buffalo Block.

Our waitress got very irritated with us for asking if they had carrot sticks in place of chips. She snapped at us and was not friendly the rest of the time. The food was so-so. We paid our bill at the table and then went and sat at the bar and had a couple drinks just to interact with the bartender. He was very friendly and made amazing drinks. I would recommend sitting at the bar if you go there to eat.

The four of us enjoyed a wonderful dinner, started out with the oyster/tequila shooters and was very impressed. Two ordered the steak and frites and said they were delicious. One ordered the Harissa chicken and it was a large serving and tasted excellent. I had the arrebato meatballs and they were quite good. The have a nice wine cellar that you can go in and pick out your wine, and we splurged on a 2017 Camus cabernet. We all shared the dessert of a deconstructed lemon meringue pie. Very tasty, overall super great service and attention to detail. We will be back!

We enjoyed our visit to The Granary so much. Our waitress, Kim, was so friendly and personable, as well as knowledgeable and attentive. The food was great and we’re looking forward to trying the oysters next time.
