We had to wait 45 minutes for our food which was then lukewarm when it came out. Not good at all. Nothing was said about it by staff until we added a tip (feel we should always do this) who then apologised for the long wait. :(

We have eaten at the Grainstore at Kilruddery many times. Invariably, the selection is great & Friday was no exception. We both chose the Fresh Crab on Brown Bread with a flavourful, delicious Green Salad. Knowing that the salad items come from their own walled garden really adds to the experience. Thank you to the excellent servers.

I am normally a fan of the Grain Store - I like its vibe and focus on seasonal and local. This visit was a let down. I chose a dish and what arrived was missing ingredients advertised - replaced with ingredients I can't eat and which I wouldn't have ordered had I known this first. I swapped meals with my kind partner and found his pressed shoulder of lamb had two chunks of bone embedded. My kid ordered the same dish but theirs was perfect (and boneless). The server didn't check in on us to find out how our food was or if we needed anything, so I complained about my dish and the bones missed from the other dish when the server arrived to clear. The manager said they had changed my food option from what was on the menu and just not told the front of house staff. The head waiter was away that day. Imagine if I had been allergic to any elements in the new dish? Terrible communication, truly poor outcome - every restaurant should know better. I get that bones can be missed, that is an accident, but if you change a dish you brief your staff and check in with your customer, you don't just serve up a surprise.

Very disappointing experience, mediocre food, listed items not available, fish overcooked, pickle salad bitter. Cheesecake was really delicious.

Our lunch for 4 was wholesome and absolutely delicious. Clearly a creative skilled chief using top quality ingredients. Interesting starters eg. crisps, that we loved. Limited menu but something for everyone. All agreed the cheesecake was the best in years. Great value. The decor is really beautiful. Tables are well spread apart and very comfortable. Cosy open fire and quiet calm atmosphere. Unfortunately the service was not good however. Staff not attentive. Had to keep calling them even though they were just standing chatting to each other at times. Didnt clear the starters plates and left them on table while we had mains. Left us short of cutlery and we had to call and wait again. Didnt know basic information about the food. Had to keep going to ask in the kitchen. Eg fish special listed on menu and they knew nothing about it. Similarly they didnt know what the plant based desert option was. They then mixed up coffee order. It is such a pity about the service as everything else was exceptional.
