the girl & the fig - Sonoma
favorite for both locals and visitors to the area. With a seasonal menu featuring garden vegetables, herbs, and an
abundance of creativity, the rustic Provencal-inspired cuisine allows earth’s true and natural flavors to shine.
GREAT food, casual atmosphere, good wine menu. We enjoyed dinner so much that we went back the next day for lunch.
Numerous, creative dishes with figs..how can you go wrong?
Good food and nice ambience. We always enjoy this restaurant.
Our dinners at girl & the fig have always been a charming and wonderful experience. The hospitality of folks working there makes for a welcoming experience. The food matches the comfort and hospitality perfectly. I mean how can a restaurant called “girl & the fig” not be compelling.
The food was exceptional as always. Ambiance is lovely, but we were outside on the lovely patio. Frankly, the inside was a bit crazy as it was Mother's Day brunch, but it was wonderful outdoors!
I would have given the restaurant all 5’s but my flounder fish dish arrived luke warm while everyone else’s was piping hot.
Très bruyant, nourriture correcte mais sans plus! Ca ne vaut pas le prix demandé.
My husband ordered the plat du jour with the roasted chicken. After the chicken was served our waiter came by to check on us. My husband remarked that he thought the chicken was dried out. Our waiter immediately swooped the dish away and another was replaced within minutes. This time the chicken was prepared perfectly! I had the duck confit and the duck legs were juicy, succulent and seasoned perfectly. Overall, our dining experience was excellent.
My only criticism was the size of our table. It was small so we had to juggle our many wine glasses (from the wine flights) to fit the space.
Great meal, the cheese board was great along with the smoked salmon, then came the flounder and duck WOW don't miss this place, and the cookies and milk amazing!!
Food and service were exceptional as always! Every item was off the charts!!
Well known restaurant ... creative menu and often changes per chef choice ... waitstaff very polite and helpful with menu recommendations .... worth trying the restaurant ... reservations a must !! Recommend getting dessert !
We were seated outside on a lovely Sonoma evening, but a bit cool. The staff worked together to get the heater going in a matter of a minute or two, and I always love seeing teamwork like that. Our waitperson also assured us that if the heater wouldn't work, we would be reseated under a different one, even though it was a busy evening.
The food was delicious and carefully prepared. We shared the large order of Mussels, the Asparagus, and the Kale and Roasted Brussel Sprout salad and we were both full and satisfied. It was a very successful birthday! Looking forward to going back!
Everything was amazing from top to bottom! Hubby had the Duck Confit. It was so flavorful and moist. I had the Flounder. It was a "melt in your mouth" dish. Buttery and briny all in one! The Girl and the Fig is a must do in Sonoma!
We had a group of 6 and were seated outside, per my request, by a group of 16 plus. The noise was not bad, the service was great and despite a big function going on in the square we were all able to easily find parking.
Delicious and unusual selections. I loved the strawberry salad!
Food was wonderful. Serve was outstanding. The only thing wrong with the Restaurant is your tables are to close. To get in my but was on the other table. How do you think that looked?
Had the signature dish of the flounder and it was fabulous. However, would have appreciated having some chardonnay on the wine list. The server recommended an alternate wine, but it was not as good as chardonnay.
My wife's fish was excellent. Service was great but I needed a blanket, the heater went out. I pointed that out. My halibut was over cooked, there was to be salsa with the beans, so the dis was tasteless compared to my wife's sole.
Our host found us a place to sit side by side. Our server was animated and had personal opinions to share about the food and wine. The experience was great because of the people! The duck is delicious and the viognier is worth it alone.
I love the food and outside dining.
I ordered the duck confit and my companion ordered the halibut, which the server said was one of their most popular dishes. The duck was average—a little stringy—and the halibut was tough on the outside and very mushy on the inside. My friend sent it back, and the server took it off the bill. The staff was very apologetic, which we appreciated.
Everything about our dining experience was lovely, except the noise level. We had been looking forward to a nice lunch and catching up with dear friends, but the noise level made conversation almost impossible.
One word fantastic! Eat on the patio. Wonderful!
Excellent meal! Enjoying the options available and especially loved the meat and cheese platter.
Myself and two friends had dinner on their patio. The food and beverages were all outstanding. I had the flounder, one friend had the Artic Char and the other had the risotto. We split the brussel sprout and kale salad.
Service could have been much improved. It took forever for our waiter to acknowledge us, answer questions and take our orders. They brought our salad before they ever brought our wine and aperitif. They knew we were splitting the salad, but did not bring any utensils to do so. At least all of our meals arrived at the same time and were hot.
We return here every time we visit Sonoma. Innovative flavors, eclectic menu, great cheese selection, a fig old fashioned, outstanding soups, signature duck, fun vibe, attentive service. The restaurant is also very engaged in the local community and the owner has a flair for entrepreneurship (she continually opens up food-related ventures -- note the fig cafe in Glen Ellen, food truck, pop up in the garden etc.) and continually gives back to those in need. Keep up the awesome work. Many thanks.
Wonderful lunch experience! We sat outside and I felt like we were in Tuscany. Great service, good food and wonderful setting.
A great way to celebrate a gal pal birthday! We sat on the nicely shaded patio and had a fun ,delicious lunch. The service was fantastic! Our lovely waitress with the English accent was always there when we needed her but not intrusive in any way. We started with the radish appetizer and enjoyed the fig and arugula salad and the spring pea risotto followed by the profiteroles. Delicious!
We made our first visit to this lovely restaurant on a Tuesday night. Our server was prompt and well versed on the food options to be had. My mussels were succulent and my husband polished off his beef tartare with a smile on his face. We ended our meal with chocolate chip cookies and a petite vanilla milkshake. Yummy! We will definitely make a return visit!
Enjoyed the Girl and the Fig. Friendly service and good food. We sat outdoors which was fine, heaters are provided. The Flounder was excellent. When in Sonoma we can definitely recommend a visit.
Excellent food well priced for the quality and execution. Friendly, attentive staff and a great, light-filled dining room.
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent food and French wine. Great service!
We had such a great dinner here. The flounder was the best we’ve both ever had! And they brought us out a special dessert for our anniversary. Thank you!!
What a great spot. We’ll be back. Those fries! Yum
We had a lovely time on the patio. The crispy Brussels sprouts and kale salad was amazing! Can’t wait to come back!
We dined to celebrate a birthday dinner, about which I both wrote and spoke to the restaurant beforehand. Sadly, even after agreeing to do something special to recognize the birthday, they did nothing the evening of our dinner.
We were surrounded by what I can only guess were limo tours of groups that had been wine tasting all day--very loud and inebriated groups that were all ordering cheeseburgers.
The food is so good-the chef is wonderful, but it's too bad that the Girl and The Fig has turned into the tour bus stop for Sonoma wine tasting.
Everything was amazing!
A duck confit should have CRISPY skin... a definite fail on the chef!
