The Ghost Light Restaurant & Lounge
The food was good but the service was very slow. We arrived at 6:00pm . The ticket was put in at 6:18 and we didn’t get our food until about 6:50. All we had was hamburgers and fries and a chicken sandwich. Not only was the service slow but our server never came out to keep us up to date. She just disappeared for a 1/2 hour. We had told her that we had theatre tickets and needed to be across the street for the play, but it didn’t help.
Flat bread was just the perfect size and the Summer Flat bread was delicious!
Delicious food and friendly service close to theater.
Food was good but the service was just ok. It was Jazzfest weekend and they only had one person serving who was also the bartender. She did her best but this was not great planning on the management's part. The woman who looked to be the manager was not friendly and frowned as if she didn't want to be there.
The restaurant and lounge are lovely except it is noisy because of the hard surfaces. The staff were pleasant. The food is okay. It is a restaurant in a hotel.
Tried to seat us at poor table in empty restaurant. Arugula salad blueberries and avocado were inedible. Salmon was okay. Would not go back.
The ambiance and decor were deceptive to the food and service. I was served the wrong sandwich which was turkey deli meat on a club type sandwich. My real chicken wrap was then brought a minute later in a take out container, she picked up the wrong plate. Felt like I was at a deli.
Bread plate on table but none was brought with my companion’s salad. Again, food and service was not what we expected.
poor customer service - 15 mins to be seated when 1/4 full; 20 minutes for water only. not worth the wait.
Good food, really good service. I had the pierogies, delish.
Were going to the Hanna. Arrived at 5:50. We were the only patrons. Server brought water, never asked about another beverage. Never brought rolls. Confused the one dinner order and had to correct it. Dinners took 35 minutes to arrive and we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Neither dinner order was complicated. Very disappointed would not come back.
Just an okay experience. We had dinner prior to a show and honestly just kind of blah.
Great restaurant with wonderful selection and variety of choices
Drinks were excellent
Waiter was very professional and personable
Clean business with many positive attributes
Seating was easy, no waiting
We enjoyed ourselves at the GL. Food was tasty. My "Stuffed" Salmon was really good on a bed of risotto and roasted broccolini. Why do they call it "stuffed"? It was not stuffed but it was delicious. The bread tasted as if it had just come out of the oven.
Restaurant was quiet despite the many customers at the restaurant at the time. We were able to have a nice conversation. The chocolate chip bread pudin, super delicious!
I had to change from lunch to dinner the same day and I had no problems whatsoever. It was easy at the Open Table
Overall It was a good experience. I recommend it.
The Brie stuffed salmon was outstanding, as was the chocolate raspberry mousse cake. Cocktails we're different and tasty. Great place for before theatre.
Perfect place for dinner before a show. A nice selection at different prices.
Waitress never revisited our table after taking our order. We wanted to get another drink, never got the chance. Loss of revenue to them. We didnt get fancy, just a burger, and amazingly it was ovecooked... medium rare came out well done. Price wasn't bad, but not worth it in my opinion. Also they started vacuuming during our dinner, not at 10 PM at 630. Just a lot of managing touches that need to be fine tuned.
The service was very slow and we nearly didn't make it to our Broadway show in time. There were hardly any patrons in the restaurant and no excuse for slow service
Slow slow slow bar service. Food mediocre. 😔
Seeing a show
Service was slow. Had tickets for 7:30 theater and 6:00 reservation should of been plenty of time - it wasn’t. On line menu didn’t match actual - went for the Bolognese and it wasn’t on the menu.
Pleasant staff, friendly, accommodating.
Slow service. Boring food and overcooked food. Good location and nice view
It was quiet so we could talk and the menu had unusual items on it which was very nice. My ravioli was good but could have used a sauce. The bread pudding was a little dry. The prices were good and the portions were good. Not to much food.
The food and service when we were there this past Saturday were very poor. Our server was pleasant and apologetic but often disappeared, failed to get our drink order correct and never put in our appetizer order at all. When we received our entrees, my ravioli entree was void of flavor and moisture. No sauce whatsoever. The bread pudding dessert we got was also extremely dry and it really seemed like they had used old French toast from a breakfast buffet - so chewy.
The food was good but the service was EXCELLENT! Upon arriving to our reservation 30 minutes early no one was at the desk to greet us and I immediately thought the service was going to be bad. After a few minutes we were seated and our waitress greeted us. She was attentive, polite, courteous and just pleasant to work with. I will be back!
This was our first time here... the food was excellent! The service was a little bit slow but our server was very friendly. We just waited awhile for our bill. I would recommend the Ghost Light Restaurant and Lounge to anyone coming to downtown for dinner or drinks.
Decent food but drinks are expensive.
the server was terrible . she didnt have a pad and pen so screwedup the drinks, then food . She got everything wrong. I am a server myself and am very forgiving usually, this was ridiculous . the place was empty, and now i know why. give them the tools they need to do there job effectively . train your staff!! This is across the street from the theater and should be packed.
Good was very good! It's is a little pricy but definitely good, especially for staying open so late.
Food was ok. A bit over cooked. Would like to see more variety on the menu. Restaurant itself was beautiful!!!
A hotel bar/restaurant. Arrived at 6pm on Friday before a show at Playhouse Square. Seated quickly and took our drink order - took about 5 minutes to return. After placing our dinner order, waitress shortly returned. "The kitchen is in chaos. What did you order again?". Took about 12 minutes to get our order of tuna and a rueben sandwich. Both pretty good. Quick checkout. There are other better options for dinner before a show, we just waited too long to find one.
Fun casual restaurant. Nice city view. Website view of the place was accurate. Good menu. Though the calamari was good with nice sauce, it was a bit overdone. But great soups, and a good reuben. Did not want a full meal before going to the theater, so this was a great place a block from Playhouse Square.
Food lacked flavor. And expensive for what you actually get.
The waitress was very quite and almost whisper. It was very hard to hear her. The food wasn’t that good and my food had a freezer burned taste too it. The service was fast and perfect before going to playhouse square.
The food was amazing. The service was exceptional also. Definitely will be back.
A little expensive but a good place to go to before going to Playhouse Square. Server was excellent and very friendly.
Mediocre. Everything was over-cooked.
Dined after a show with our 6 yr old granddaughter. Theatre salad was very good. Greens were fresh and crisp. Added grilled salmon which was well seasoned.. Reuben was a light version with half turkey which we enjoyed. Children’s menu had a good pasta. Cheesecake for dessert was excellent. Had quite a few healthy options on menu like cauliflower steak and tofu lettuce wraps which I appreciate and will try next time. I heard the restaurant won judges choice at Cleveland restaurant week kickoff event which I why I went with the restaurant week offering of theatre salad. Good for family. Clean. Comfortable. Will return.
First time at restaurant. Selections were nice. Asked about making a starter an entree-sized meal. Waitress immediately said no without checking with the kitchen. Was a bit put off by that. Ordered a salad with grilled chicken and it was okay. No one refilled the water glasses without having to chase someone down. Same with the bread. The restaurant was not super-busy, so that wasn't the reason for the lackluster service.
I may try it again.
Made reservations early enough so we got done in time to make theater without rushing. Best laid plans ....
The waitress was HORRIBLE. No personality. No knowledge of the menu. Not at all attentive.
The food, or at least three of four meals, came poorly prepared ... cold, undercooked, uncooked.
One meal didn't come until everyone else was done. It was only Salmon Salad. The Salmon was raw.
Yes, the Salmon dish was comped. Big damn deal. They offered to redo it. Did I mention that there was a deadline to be at the theater.
NEVER GOING BACK. Obviously they changed the name of a terrible restaurant, thinking that would attract customers back. The place was empty, but that didn't help either the quality of the food or service.
We reserved a table for 5pm on Open Table to be sure we got right in before our show at Playhouse Square Sunday night 2/17/19. Upon arrival, we were greeted with sign "to seat ourselves" and the fact there was only one other table with customers should have been our first clue this wasn't going to be good. After a small wait, the server took our drink and appetizer order. Appetizers were $6 for three very small spring rolls and $6 for four small fried raviolis. My daughter and I both ordered the New York strip steak. It came with polenta and roasted carrots. Polenta was chunky not creamy, and the carrots had some chemically taste. The steak was chewy, hard to cut, not tender at all and the burnt onion sauce was horrible - so bad we didn't even finish. The server was not attentive, busy drinking her energy drink at the bar and using her smartphone. Our water glasses sat empty for a long time and finally the manager refilled but without even asking how our meal was. Then our bill came... Open Table and Ghost Light website advertised the NY Strip as $29, the menu said $32 but we were charged $39 per plate. I questioned it and even though they quickly fixed it, it was the $32 price even after I told her the online prices. We paid and left to go across the street for dessert! Very disappointed how much we paid for very, very poor quality and service. Sorry we didn’t read the other reviews before we went. We will not be back.
