Don't expect this restaurant to honor your reservation. This is the second time we've been burned by the George on a theater night, so we won't be going back. The first time this happened was 2 years ago - we arrived on schedule at 6 pm but were told by a hostess that the dining room was full and they didn't have a table for us. YET. We were invited to wait at the bar and "someone would come and get us." That never happened. Fortunately, we had ordered food at the bar - the bartender was great - and were able to finish up in time for our show. We didn't try the George again for a year. My son and his fiancee like The George, so we tried it again about a year later and had a normal experience. Then, last Saturday night, we arrived at 6 pm, this time with a party of 4, only to have the manager (owner?) tell us first that we weren't on the schedule. Then he scrolled around a bit on his screen and said that I had made the reservation for 5:15 p.m. and we had missed it. He "had to" cancel our reservation and now there were no tables available. Definitely made it sound as though it was all my fault, so sad, too bad. I was confused at first, because we always make reservations for 6 p.m. on theater night, I had made the reservation weeks ago, and I had received a confirmation text. Took me a few seconds to bring up my Open Table reservation for 6 p.m. on my phone and show it to him, to no avail. He backed off the you-messed-up attitude but said he was full and didn't have a table for us. I might have argued further, but had already had one lousy experience at the George and wasn't excited about hanging around for a second one. My son suggested we go to the pub across the street, so we left. There my son told us that the man at the George reception (owner/manager, we don't know) is often cranky, and that he's got such a reputation that people have made memes of him online. I'll share one here if I can. Amazing, isn't it? DO NOT recommend.

I frequent often at The George and have enjoyed EVERY visit. The food is superb, and the atmosphere is delightful. Eddie was our waiter last night. He was personable, complimentary and made some amazing suggestions. This is why The George is my go-to favorite!

Excellent food and service. The only complaint would be that we had tickets to the threatre which they knew and it took a while to get the bill and to get it paid..

Wine list is marginal . Food was lacking flavor and creativity . Scallops were dry and overcooked. Servers and staff were lovely and attentive

Was really looking forward to having dinner here with our friends. Came for a work dinner in last fall and food and service were amazing. Unfortunately, the food was below average at best especially with the high end prices. Sadly won’t be returning.
