The Geneva Inn Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had our Valentines dinner here. I was a little disappointed that they had a set Valentine’s menu and I didn’t see anything about it online. I was really looking forward to something on their main menu. However, everything was delicious and the cocktails were perfect. I had an apricot crepe and almond ice cream dessert that was to die for!
My husband and I dined here for the first time on Saturday night. The restaurant is elegant and we were seated at a nice table at the window. Our server Joe made our experience extra special. He was friendly and knowledgeable and gave us outstanding service. We enjoyed the cheese curd appetizer and the lamb rack entrée. The rack of lamb was cooked to a perfect medium rare and I enjoyed the demi glace it was served with.
Excellent squash bisque. Small crab cakes, however, flavorful.
Cheese curds - well prepared, a more local treat. Flavorful short rib special.
Swordfish - good preparation. The only disappointing item was the local Wisconsin
icewine. It is not at the quality of the Niagara peninsula wines. Server was attentive and cordial.
Desserts included panna cotta, a good choice and chocolate cake.
Even when there is fog, the lakeside view is worth it. Lake was somewhat frozen, which adds to
the charm. It can be dangerous with water holes.
Menu was revamped in last few years. Current chef has wonderful daily specials and is creative.
Highly recommend this location. There is a relatively new management group, and they appear professional. This is a welcome place for those from Illinois.
It was my birthday and we invited our friends to join us. We all enjoyed our evening. My only complaint was my salmon was raw. I sent it back and by the time I got it back everyone else was finished. I was surprised, I would think any chef would be using a thermometer to measure whether it was done. We spent over $200.00 on dinner and I personally did not get a formal apology from our waiter. Not good business style.
We have been to the Geneva Inn several times over the years. We really miss the menu from when it was the 3 course Champagne brunch on Sundays! This is our second time to the Inn for Sunday brunch since the renovations. I have to be honest and say that nothing about the brunch menu really wowed us. We felt very underwhelmed by the selection. I really like the renovations, but I don't think I would recommend the restaurant for the Sunday brunch, which is really sad because it has always been our go to special place to go for brunch.
My husband & I went here for my 40th birthday. We live about 40 minutes east of Lake Geneva and it was well worth the drive. The location is right on the lake; atmosphere was very nice - cozy, quiet, nice lighting. It felt very private and romantic for a night out. The food was very good. My husband had the mac & cheese with steak, I got crab cakes, shrimp fettuccine and some gelato for dessert. Portions were good size (both had to take some home!), nice flavor and presentation, too. Value was pretty good - we're used to Chicago prices, so felt like we got a bit of a deal. Will definitely come back, only maybe when it's warmer outside!
We have been here many times and the service does not disappoint, however since under new management the ambiance and the food is not quite what it used to be. We always felt this was a cut above the rest in dining and liked the quiet romantic atmosphere, it just didn't feel the same and we felt very overdressed especially as people dining were wearing clothes I would do yard work in. loved our server and the wine was fabulous but there is just that BUT that would probably prevent me from coming back again for a while.
Lovely views. Food was great with wonderful selections. Wish they had flowers or candles on the tables, just to add to the ambiance. Also it was VERY cold. Yes it is winter and you are on the lake, however some heat would be appreciated. Ate in winter jackets! Overall will go again.
Unfortunely I had a party of eight at the restaurant expecting great service and food. Got neither!! Our waiter tried his best however he was working against the bartender and the kitchen. Drinks did not come for 20 min after ordering, and then came out two or three at time. Took about 5 minutes before we all had our drinks so we could finally have a toast.
Dinner was just as frusrrating, waited 1 and 1/2hours for our food to get to our table and again dinners came our 2 or three at a time. We all agreed that the lucky people who got there food should not wait for the rest of us. 2 our of the 8 dinners were tasty. Ala cart menu items were pricy, like $8.00 for French fries!! Steak was served with 1/2 of a carrot! I am not kidding!
Needles to say I was embossed and frustrated ! We will never go back again. This was the night before New Years Eve.
This has become “our” place and we often stay overnight and eat at the restaurant. The lakefront view is absolutely amazing! The ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing and cozy. Staff is extremely friendly and inviting. We definitely will continue to visit!
Reservation for 7:30, seated 8:10.
20 minutes before a waiter comes over and says he didn't see us at table. Ordered meals and salad, 10 minutes later waiter returns and says featured entree has been out since 7. ok, reorder and then wait and wait, and wait. we spoke to a table of ten next to us. their kids got the meals, and 45 minutes later, adults still waiting. at 9:30 we walked out. waiter did buy us round of drinks, but a major disappointment. Has become poorly run and off our list if nicer places to eat. you have been warned!
My husband had the Delmonico steak, as did my son. He had this on a previous visit to the restaurant. However, this visit, they were both somewhat disappointed. This time it was quite fatty and not as tasty as the first time. I had the duck breast, which was excellent. I would definitely order it again. The salads were also very good. We also order the brie as an appetizer. This was very good, too.
I walked in and was blown away by the renovations! It wasn't the "cozy country inn" I've been to - it's hip and very "city". Off season menu a bit small but great presentation and great food. Bar area very nice ...
We decided quickly that we'd be coming back. Can't wait for warmer months as the view (TONS of windows) will be wonderful!!
This is our first visit to the Inn and restaurant, and we will definitely return.
The service was superb, as was the food and atmosphere. Our table by the window, overlooking the lake was heavenly. Our server was friendly, welcoming, and attentive.
We both had the butternut squash bisque as an appetizer, and I ordered the Harvest salad--so yummy.
My Lady and I stayed at the Geneva Inn and had dinner in the restaurant for her birthday. The staff was awesome, and our server Joe was attentive, fun, friendly, and helpful. We even had a card wishing her a happy birthday - nice touch. I would definitely recommend the NY strip. It was fabulous.
We'll be going there again (actually we went back for breakfast the next morning).
We have gone there for many years to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant only left a card on the table recognizing the occasion. Soup was cold. Quality of food not as good as in previous years. Remodeled and not as appealing as before. Miss the piano player.
We decided to stay at the Geneva Inn and have dinner coming home from family thanksgiving. We had a great evening. The room was very nice, comfortable and had lot of space. We had drinks before dinner and the bar was ok. The Inn is on Lake Geneva and the view is beautiful. At this time of year, we lose the fun at 4:30 so does the view. Besides that it was great.
Dinner was nice. My wife had the trout and it was good. I had short rib in a pastry good, but a little dry. Needs a bit gravy or something to make it a bit less dry. Appetizer, shrimp cocktail was great. Dessert , expresso hazelnut cream puff...fabulous! We had a great stay. Had breakfast and enjoyed the food and the scenery in the morning. We had a great stay at the Geneva Inn!
We have come to the inn for Thanksgiving in past years. When we arrived this year we found out they had switched, this year, to a buffet format. We typically are not buffet people and were disappointed that there was no mention of the change when we made our reservation.
While the service and view were still outstanding, and the food was very good, it was not what we would have chosen for $59 a head if we had known before we were standing at the host station. We'll have to find a new venue for next year.
The view of the lake is gorgeous, but the service at the restaurant is barely above average. You’re paying only for the view and not the quality of the food. The hotel is very old and outdated with below average regarding customer service. Save your money and choose another resort.
