Nice restaurant, however, they do not read the requests that are submitted in the reservation on Opentable.
We were celebrating a birthday and there wasn't anything mentioned or noted about it. The small things make a big difference to returning and loyal patrons.
Been to restaurant for lunch and brunch was very good. Don’t know what happened but very disappointed with the dinners our group of 6 received. Two meals were sent back to the kitchen and the waiter mentioned that even the cook said the meal did not look right. The presentation of the meals were not even appealing. I had a butternut squash soup that tasted like pumpkin pie filling, way too sweet and too much spice.
I would have given it 5 stars for the food except my husband's duck had to be sent back as it was raw inside. They made it right. Other than that everything was impeccable.
We stayed at this lovely Inn recently and enjoyed a couple of nice breakfasts - service and food was very good. Our dinner fell short however as the service was not up to par. That really detracts from an otherwise fine meal. When we return to the inn the n ct time we will eat dinner elsewhere as this is the second time we have been disappointed in their dinner service. Breakfast was great though!
Loved having Sunday brunch here with my friends to cap off our girls’ weekend. The food was pretty great and the decor was wondeful, but the ambiance was what made it such a perfect brunch spot. Only later when I talked about my trip with my parents dude they tell me they used to come to the Geneva inn thirty years ago when they were dating for the same experience we had all enjoyed.
Wonderful ambiance! I had the halibut, which was heavier than described in the menu. They need to add more vegetables and be prepared for those who prefer healthier options.
Always a pleasure to visit the Geneva Inn. Great people and wonderful ambience.
Highly recommended, beautiful setting with wide open view of the lake. Felt a little underdressed in my shorts and t-shirt but wasn’t totally alone as the lunch crowd gathered. For dinner, I would be a little more smartly dressed for sure . Wait staff were wonderful and very accommodating. Felt like we could have spent the whole afternoon there. Would not hesitate to go again. Food was good, wasn’t out of this world, very nice selection of wines. The setting was the star and the service was super.
The sunset view was lovely. We both ordered the 6 oz filet at $40.00 each. The filet was tender....tooo tender. We think meat tenderizer had been added to it because the filet was a little mushy. also, the plate was not warm at all. We're not picky people at all, but when the bill came to $120.00 plus tip, a warm plate was expected also a tender but not mushy filet was also expected.
So the food was good and the service was excellent. View was amazing and watched an incredible sunset. Drinks could have been better, and a little pricey, but overall good.
Absolutely horrible. Cocktails well done. Salad excellent. Calamari cooked to a crisp, could not even eat it - no sauce and plain. Duck confit rubbery and not at all appetizing. Halibut undercooked and glassy. Server was great and made up for the disgusting food. Not a pleasant evening!
We had reservations for a party of 12 for a 50th wedding anniversary at 7:45 pm on a Sunday night. We were seated right outside of a private room that had a private party. They were very loud & disruptive, but we were told the doors couldn’t be closed or the private party would get to hot. It was a nuisance the entire meal.
Our food didn’t arrive until 9:45, with absolutely no apologies from the waitress. When we complained to the manager about the wait, he blamed it on how busy they were (not) & on the waitress who was obviously poorly trained in customer service. The manager took 10% off our meal but never came to the table & the waitress never acknowledged it.
As for the food...it had absolutely no attention to aesthetics or presentation - imagine an anemic, white chicken breast alone on a white plate. Imagine a brown piece of dry, fried halibut on a bad of five yellow wax beans on a white plate. Seriously. It was laughable. Taste was ok but steak was rubbery. Also thrown on a white plate.
There is no way the restaurant will survive in this state. I will never eat there again & you should not either. At least until major management changes are made.
Soup was cold. Potato’s were not cooked. Main entree was seafood platter - shrimp and scallops were fine but perch was not hot and seemed like it should have been cooked longer. Overall disappointed with meal and couldn’t find server to alert him to correct it.
The view is fantastic, food not that good and the customer service depends who is your waitress, ours was horrible.
Would have given much higher ratings. But the music from the singers in the bar, which sounded like karaoke, was more than loud in the dining room
For a birthday celebration lunch, were given arguably the table with the best view in the house. Excellent service, friendly and responsive, not hovering. Food was good to very good, luncheon sandwiches were our orders. Would recommend for lunch. One downside is the noise, those with hearing challenges may want to avoid - two loud groups caused us to lean in to talk.
We have been coming here for many years and have enjoyed every time - fantastic ambiance, fabulous food and impeccable service - except this past Sunday! I can honestly say with a heavy heart that was the first time ever we have received such disgusting service and the first time ever I have walked out of a restaurant leaving no tip! No apology from the server, or the management staff, disappointed is an understatement!
We were celebrating an anniversary so a window seat with a view was requested and honored. When seated we immediately asked for a wine list. The server came about 15 minutes later to inquire about starting with a drink list. We told her we had requested a wine list, ordered 2 cocktails and an appetizer to share (that we stated). Another 15 minutes later we received drinks and a wine list and one plated appetizer. All night long service was extremely slow. We did order a bottle of wine, our glasses were never refilled by the server. We listened to tables on both sides of us return their food for proper temperature. Our food (filet and halibut) was fine. Food was good but not over the top. Dessert was over the top. To sum it up- service was subpar, view was wonderful and food so so. It's a nice place for a special occasion but not worth the prices.
Great restaurant in a great location. We go every year for our anniversary and usually a couple other times in the summer. Great hotel too. Great views from the restaurant. $30 dinner specials with appetizers and dessert are a great deal
Geneva Inn has a beautiful view of Lake Geneva while you dine in a beautiful restaurant in the Inn. The food and service were great. Our waitperson, Leslie, was very excellent and patient with our grandchildren.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday there. Beautiful view of Lake Geneva from their deck and window tables. The food was good and the service was excellent. The restaurant was a fair value for the location and food.
It was a birthday dinner and they kept running out of items and informing us after we had already ordered them (happened with the eggplant parm and another dish)....had they actually come to take our order sooner than 30 minutes after we sat down maybe we would've actually been able to get what we wanted. Also, bartender didn't know how to stir cocktails (old fashioneds) so that they sugar dissolved. Food was just OK...dauphinoise potatoes were totally under cooked and the sauces were bland on the pork chop and the duck.
Came here for breakfast but left the restaurant before ordering. The server told us they don’t have a GF kitchen. Normally under these circumstances a restaurant would accommodate us somehow by talking to the chef or cleaning off a frying pan but our server was so incredibly rude we left. I was worried about being cross contaminated by people not taking celiac disease seriously.
The Geneva Inn has probably one of the best views of any restaurant on Lake Geneva. However it’s very distracting to look through dirty windows . The food was average and lacking in flavor. Summer salad was good but you really need to remove the stems from the spinach!
This place used to be classy with great food. It has gone downhill. We were served several items that were well below par: beet salad was rock hard; seafood bisque that was very runny; halibut that was covered in an almond glaze (who does this?); a parmigiana pasta where the eggplant was not well cooked. The cook needs to go. Prices are not justifed with this type of experience.
Food was pretty good. Lots of waiters but they all just stood around for the most part. Lots of college kids which is fine but need better direction from management.
Food was ok but expensive for what you get. Pretty basic. Steak with a dollop of butter and fingerling potatoes with no seasoning. Wax beans for a vegetable. Service was extremely slow.
We have been coming to Geneva Inn for years. When it reopened over a year ago, the food was outstanding. Pricey, but very good for a special occasion dinner. Our servers (bartender, waitress, manager) were all fantastic! However, the food was far from good. Salads had little to no dressing, lamb and fish overcooked. Beef carpaccio had 3-4 tiny pieces of meet on a massive bed of arugula(again with little to no dressing) at a rather high price. We unfortunately will be very hesitant to return.
This was our second time at Geneva Inn Restaurant and it was so nice. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Both of our entrees were delicious. In the background there was a single artist singing--he was very good. I would be remiss if I didn't mention our server, Faith. She was patient, kind and attentive, but not overly so. We will definitely be coming back.
Was not at all happy with the service. Our waitress never checked back with us to see if we needed anything, water, iced tea, etc.
The Geneva Inn Restaurant was quite convenient as we stayed at the Inn on the premises. The menu had a nice variety and the view of Lake Geneva was spectacular. Service was pleasant but they seemed a bit overwhelmed with recent menu changes. Breakfast was especially worth it as the Inn provided a discount each day with your stay. Omelettes were excellent with unexpected blend of seasonal vegetables and, of course, famous Wisconsin cheese. If ever visiting Chicago or Milwaukee this is a good place to try as the variety of food and quality of the ambiance is better than the typical “pub grub” found downtown.
Great ambiance and outstanding views of the Lake. Nice menu and food quality was above average. It was a Tuesday night and although the restaurant only had @ 20% of its tables occupied the service was spotty at best.
Should be N/A stars on food (ok the bread was good, so there's that), as we didn't get to dine. The view is amazing and the hostess and busboy (who brought us water, then bread) were super... but the server who we'd been told would help us never showed up! After about 25 minutes, we decided to leave. VERY disappointed because their menu looked great and we were excited to spend our 1st anniversary dinner here. :(
We came here on a recommendation from a friend. They suggested a 7:30pm reservation to see the sunset. It was cloudy. No big deal, we still had a nice meal. It was pricey for what it was. We enjoyed the pace of the meal. Our server could have been more attentive (he was focused on the party of 11). They were out of several things on the menu.
Setting and view is gorgeous. The food was very poor. My chicken brewmaster was try dry to finishing eating and the wax means as well. It was such a disappointment after years of enjoying meals here. Good luck finding a new menu & chef. We hope this correction takes place sooner then later.
Great location, waitress was lacking on service. Overall great experiance
Our server was very nice & attentive. We weren't rushed. The good we ordered was delicious.
Great view, terrible food. Some of the worst food I have ever eaten. Not worth eating here. Go for drinks.
Always have the Geneva Inn on our list of places to go when we want to celebrate a special of occasion, get together with good friends, or just spend a pleasant afternoon of dining and conversation. Wonderful lakefront reviews from all the windows. Very helpful staff eager to make our dining experience special.
This was one of the most disappointing dinners I have ever had A few of the issues:
Arrive at 7:10 for our 7:15 Reservation and were told that there would be a ten to fifteen minute wait because they sat so many people who walked in without a reservation
Actually sat 30 minutes later
Appetizer and wine order put in. Wine delivered. Dinner order made
Appetizer and soup come at same time. Sent soup back until app was done
Entree delivered one hour after soup was done !
WORST steak I ever had. $50 NY Strip that was flavorless, obviously boiled and never touched a grill My wife’s filet was grey and lukewarm
Complaint to waiter brought manager who gave $40 credit on the wine but still charged for both pathetic pieces of meat served. Paid far too much for a mediocre bottle of wine , good apps and soups and inedible steaks. There are 100 places within 2 miles that you can do better at. And I encourage everyone to find them
I’m usually pretty good at choosing restaurants. I failed. Don’t repeat my mistake
