The views and decor are lovely. The service was professional and polite. The wine list was excellent. The food was absolutely horrible. Underdone chicken, practically raw potatoes. Dessert was tasteless and the consistency of glue. I want to like this place because the ambiance and decor is lovely but I will not be going back anytime soon.
This was our second time dining at this establishment and it was just as good as the first time. Ironically we were seated at thw same table and got thw same server as last time. We are planning to bring my parents for their joint birthday dinner in September, love this place.
Too many apples. Apples in our pork chop meal, apples in our Kale salad. Both salads arrived without dressing. We waited 6-8 minutes until a bus boy arrived to ask for salad dressing. Dressing was not very good. Salad was not too good. Onion soup was luke warm.
We expected more from this restaurant. The service and overall feel was that of a more casual restaurant. We have been there in the past and it was a higher level of service, the steak we had was very good. The potatos as our side were dismal and then on top of that we were over charged for them. This was a special occasion night and based off of prior visits we choose this restaurant, our mistake. It is unfortunate because the location and view can not be beat.
Seafood was perfectly prepared. Great small deserts. Terrific service. Reasonable price for 3 coarse meal.
The service was excellent and the ambiance, perfect! It was a lovely meal, made even more meaningful by the beautiful sunset we witnessed. We will be back!
The Geneva Inn Restaurant provides one of the best dinner experience I have ever had. The steak was absolutely mouthwatering and watching the sunset over the lake was the perfect end to dinner. I will definitely return to The Geneva Inn Restaurant!
Thanks to Terri and the staff for not only a delicious birthday meal but also for taking such good care of me during my stay at the hotel as well. Great food, views and service. Perfect weekend away from Chicago!
We have enjoyed many meals at The Geneva Inn and all of which are usually pretty spectacular. Unfortunately, this last visit was not up to their normal level of food and service. While the server we had was pleasant, we are not sure if she was new or had too many tables. Not as attentive or as much attention to detail as we have experienced. The food was really the source of our 3 starts. Defintely NOT up to their normal standard. We had the $28 pre-fix type meal as we've never done this before and it looked like nice options. It was a bummer that it was not that great. We will be back as I said we've had many pleasant experiences so we will hope for a better meal next time.
Food terrible service awful
A beautiful location for a sunset ! Food is just ok, but desserts are sub par. Don't call a chocolate mousse a grasshopper just by putting some green stuff at the bottom. It wasn't even creme de menthe. But I can't say what it was.
Ambiance is very good given the view to Lake Geneva and the table arrangements. Service was ok, but a large party next to us took our servers attention. One main course had to be sent back as the meat had an "off" flavor. We both ended up with the seafood platter, which was ok but nothing special. The fish fillets were mixed and the scallops were undercooked. The best part of the meal was the soup and salad.
Birthday dinner for my significant!
Great view, service, ambience, and all four courses were top shelf!
Live three piece band downstairs added to the fun!
The lamb chops were some of the finest I have ever experienced.
Great room, location and view. Food was eclectic and well presented. Service was a little slow, but it was July 4th, so excusable. Overall, delicious and we would return.
Service was mediocre at best with waitress inattentive. Although our prior meals were very good, tonight my salmon arrived way undercooked while was companion's salmon was cooked properly. Waitress took it back then delivered a piece overcooked and half the size of the original. Waitress then seems shocked when I ask for my dinner to be comped and didn't offer to make it better or even desert. Have to think twice before returning.
Great service. Food good not great. A tad pricey we thought.
Very nice dinner. When I booked the reservation I did mention it was a birthday dinner - just realized no one mentioned it. 😐 I’m any event, beautiful decor and great views of the lake. Great waitress and very good food. Had the seafood platter - fabulous!
Everything was wonderful! Beautiful day dining on the lake
Everything good, was surprised that the house added 22% gratuity, am used to 18% and tip up.
Service was very spotty. We waited a long time for service - there was some kind of mix-up as to what waitress had our table. Our waitress was distracted and not very attentive. Food was good, but would not go back again. Best part of the restaurant is the view.
Spectacular views! Our server was very friendly. Only down side was the kitchen forgot to put avocado on our avocado BLT! It was quickly remedied as soon as we told our server.
Love the new menu! Much better variety of options to choose from especially with kids/ teenagers. Great service
Excellent food. Not inexpensive, but fairly priced for an expensive resort area.
Service a little spotty at breakfast, but not bad. Excellent service for dinner. Stunning view of Geneva Lake from dining room. Only place I know of with this good of a lake view dining room on Geneva. Really unique, and well worth the trip.
I was very disappointed in the lunch menu. This is a lovely venue where you like to go for special occasions. The menu consisted of hamburgers, turkey club sandwiches, very limited salad selection, and no entrees. These are items one can get at most restaurants. An expanded menu with some creativity would be appreciated. My friend and I chose the summer salad which included strawberries, blueberries, and walnuts. They were hard to find among the over abundance of spinach. We commented to the server and were given more fruit. As much as I like the venue, I won't be back for another special occasion.
Overall a nice experience. View of Lake Geneva is outstanding. I did have a problem with the sun in my eyes, but they lowered the shades for us and that helped. Food was excellent, but our wait time was longer than expected (a Sunday evening). Staff apologized and explained that they were busier that evening than anticipated. However, the food was absolutely excellent as was their communication so I have no cause to complain. Interesting menu, I had the wiener schnitzel. I would return anytime.
Restaurant seemed understaffed. Waitress was inattentive. We were not offered any bread, did not realize it was an option until I saw it being brought to another table after we had finished eating.
First, let me start by saying that this has always been one of my favorite restaurants. That was why I was so extremely disappointed in our experience on Sunday evening (6/24/18). I made the reservation for 8 of us thru open table, at 6:30 PM, and told my friends how special this place was. When we arrived, we were a little early and we waited at the bar. The restaurant, as always, was so pretty. It looks over Lake Geneva, and it was a gorgeous evening. We had been at the concert at the Lake, and we were looking forward to a special evening watching the sunset. Drinks were a little slow, but I really thought nothing of it. When we sat for dinner, it took a long time to get menus, and when they were brought, 2 of us didn't even get one. No big deal, I already knew what I wanted. Then, it took about 35 minutes before we saw our waiter again. When he did come, he was obviously frazzled, and really was not helpful at all. Long story short, we never did get our entrees, we got our salads and breads after over an hour. (I am being generous with that time estimate). After 2 hours, we decided to leave. Also, about an hour and a half in to the evening, I spoke to the hostess, and was assured that our meal would be coming . When we decide to leave, I asked to speak to the manager. He was so frazzled that he really didn't listen. He indicated that we had gotten our drinks and our salads for free, what more did we want? Seriously?? I was so upset, because it was my recommendation that we go to this restaurant. I told him that I understood that it wasn't his fault that the 2 chefs had walked out, as he indicated. I asked him who I could speak to about it, he replied that "it is no one's fault". I asked him what he could do to entice us to return, as I love this restaurant. He said to leave my information, and he walked away. This was Sunday evening, and It is now Wednesday evening. I have heard nothing
Great view and food. Customer friendliness was not good at all. It was my wife's birthday and they were not that friendly.
We have been here many times and it never disappoints. Views are amazing.
We had been dining here for 15 years or more and they did a remodel and menu change a few years back that we did not care for. We had stopped going there. Now there is a new chef, new menu, and a new manager...very accommodating and personable. All good changes! We have been there twice in the past week and now are quite pleased with the total package. A nice re-birth that we intend to enjoy as a part of our frequent dining experience.
My wife and I stopped in for lunch, food was really good and the staff was just as friendly. From the looks of it everywhere in the restaurant has a great view over looking the lake.
Best porkchop I've ever had. Everything was wonderful. We will definitely be back.
Very few guests dining. Service painfully slow. Food just ok. Prices were good, even though food was so so. I would go back for the view and a cocktail but skip the meal.
Father’s Day. Seemed like the food was very slow to come out of the kitchen. Would have liked it to have been warmer. Eggs Benedict and the eggs were not runny. Must have sat for a while.
Nice place to view the sunset over dinner
Server brought the check before asking if we were done. Thought it would be a nice place to celebrate our wedding anniversary but wish we went elsewhere. View was nice and food was ok, but would not go back. You expect better service when you’re paying a decent amount for the meal.
Food portion small. Lovely seating on the lake.
Excellent food. We both had Steak. Great service.
They were out of multiple menu items including several seafood selections and desserts. Husband ordered a medium rare steak and it was served well done.
