The General Muir
A favorite with many of the residents, this deli serves guests in simple but comfortable settings. The General Muir is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner all week, with a special brunch menu served over the weekends.

Spaghetti and meatball Sunday is excellent.
Was very much looking forward to this experience, only to be disappointed by the limited Sunday menu. (Sunday night is Spaghetti Dinner night.) Would HIGHLY recommend to offer a full menu on weekends (or post the limited Sunday menu on the website).
Was a ways away from Canton Ga. we knew that and wanted something different! Food was good
I have Reuben & wife had Burger. Both were good
Get a deli sandwhich
The food was excellent...pastrami, corned beef, matzo ball soup and spaghetti and meatballs. My birthday was not recognized even though it was on reservation.
The General Muir is a nice modern bistro twist to a Deli. The food doesn't depart greatly from the Deli component of that, so make sure that you understand that while you can get haute cuisine, their forte is still traditional food. That doesn't detract from the nice selection of plates and unique ambience of the place though. Service was very attentive. Put it on the list.
Great food and ambiance
Date night. Had a lovely time. Excellent wine, not too expensive, good variety of old world and new world reds. Filet mignon (beef), perfectly cooked, great cut, no extra connective tissue or other trimmings. Very tender and easy to eat. Great presentation and good sauce and sides.
Lighting was bright for Valentines day, but overall, excellent experience.
Wonderful as always
Interesting food in a beautiful setting. Service was attentive
This is the 3rd or 4th time we have dined. Food is always good...really good hamburgers, salads and pastrami sandwiches. Cheesecake (plain) is the best! Also tried the German chocolate one but the topping was a bit much. Overpowered the cheesecake. Maybe some toasted coconut would have been better.
Service was excellent. Very attentive and gracious waitress. Food arrived at appropraite pace after drinks and was very good. noise level is a little loud, but acceptable.
Sunday night spaghetti and meatballs price fixe menu is a fun experience our family looks forward to. We love the General!
Enjoyed dinner. Soup is fantastic and everyone enjoyed their desserts. Unfortunately, out of the rice pudding so my sister got the classic cookies. Mallory provided great service.
This was our first experience with The General Muir. It certainly won't be our last. The menu had a large selection of foods that we like and the items we choses (Matzoh Ball Soup and the salmon pate) were delicious. Or main courses included a Ruben, a Pastrami Sandwich, and the lamb shank on sweet potato polenta. Every think was great!! The sandwiches and the lamb shanks were tender and tasty. We would certainly recommend The General Muir to all our friends.
Very nice dinner and evening.
It was wonderful! Love the look of the restaurant! Highly recommend their Burger. My son had the Spaghetti Special and he said it was “Reaaalllly good”
Great experience as always. Amazing food, exceptional service, and just an all around beautiful space. As full as the main course made me, it was hard to resist the incredible cakes and pies made in house.
Love their Christmas Eve Eve dinner but wish they’d had more of the black and whites (or blue and whites). Our reservation was at 7pm and they were sold out.
The sprighitty was aldente. However, the sauce and meatballs lacked flavor.
Dinner before concert at Emory. There was a joyful party in the room-a standup cocktail party, so it was quite noisy. The food was good and healthy and fresh. The menu is very small so there were not a lot of choices. Service was polite and quick.
What a delight! I enjoyed the food, service and the overall vibe here. I'd like to come back to try more on the menu.
The stacked burger was delicious. All four people in our party had this entree and everyone agreed on the taste. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive.
This was my second trip to the General Muir. My wife used to work at Corky & Lenny's in Cleveland Ohio and we have been hoping for a place like the General for a long time. We had the Reuben this time and it was great, but I think I'll have a straight Corned Beef or Pastrami next time as I previously enjoyed because I want to enjoy the taste without the other flavors. We have had the Matsa Ball soup and it is also great. This time I tried the Poutine and it was fabulous, fries, gravy, cheese curds, and Pastrami pieces. We had no room for the Cheesecake afterwards this time, but it is authentic NY cheesecake and is delicious. Service both times was excellent, and I loved the ambiance with good classic vocalists, not too loud, but loud enough to appreciate. If we ever catch an owner their we are both going to give them a big hug and thank them for bringing this gem to Atlanta!
Food and table service are always great here. A long time favorite since they opened.
I was not about to miss out eating at The General Muir when I found myself in Atlanta. Although difficult to get to (in the dark in an unfamiliar neighborhood and rental car), the General more than made up for it. To start with, they called me to suggest I come earlier than my pre-arranged 9 PM reservations, as the menu would change then, and I would only have a choice of sandwiches. The Chicken on Friday night was unlike any other I've had, with a remarkable "crusty shell" to it. The star of the meal was the Poutine, that was served with their pastrami bits. Service was friendly, helpful, and merely added to a great meal.
Taste and flavors are superb. Ample portions served. Having a conversation can be challenging unless you're in a booth, as the room is open and has hard surfaces. I have not tried eating outside. But the yummy dishes keep me coming back. If you're vegetarian there's not a lot to select from. Brunch is very popular.
Love the Sunday Night Spaghetti Dinner. The best and most tender meatballs .
Very pleasant. Atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable. Plan to sit on the patio next visit when the weather is cooler.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here while visiting Atlanta. The atmosphere I would describe as hip diner, it’s very cool and inviting. We had an attentive staff that took great care of us but didn’t hover and the food was just amazing! I had the best corned beef sandwich that I’ve ever tasted! They bake the bread in house and cure the meats too, it was divine! We saved room to share a slice of chocolate cake and boy am I glad we did! It was excellent! I’m a baker and very particular about desserts, they’re usually not as good as what I would make at home. This however was the exception. If you live in Atlanta, you’re super lucky to be able to enjoy this place frequently!
We had FANTASTIC SERVICE from our waitress! Her depth of knowledge was truly amazing!
It was our first visit to General Muir. Everything was great but we specially went to try your Friday night special, fried chicken. Sadly the fried chicken was very disappointing. It was dry and flavorless. The sirloin, however, was top notch!
Love this place... it's a small dinner menu but awesome! POUTINE!
Spaghetti dinner was awesome. The Reuben sandwich is to die for.
We’ve been three times. Never had a bad meal or bad service.
Best Reuben I’ve ever had with a huge delicious homemade pickle
First time here. Had the deviled eggs/pickled veggies first and the a Reuben with pastrami, which was excellent!! My wife had the burger, which also very tasty.
We had excellent cocktails to start as well. I had the Escamillo cocktail made with tequila, mezcal, aperol, lime and honey! Highly recommend it.
The Roasted chicken entree was delicious!
