The Gathering Table
Chef Budi Kazali artistically melds Asian and French cuisine to deliver a truly delectable and extensive menu that features seasonal, locally sourced produce, seafood, and meats.
Whether you’re reconnecting with family and friends at our communal gathering table, or with that special someone at one of our more intimate tables, you’re in for a truly remarkable dining experience.
There's something on the menu for everyone, and all the dishes are small plates and meant to be shared, so come hungry!
It was a great experience. The ambiance on the outside patio was perfect. The service was outstanding and the food tasted great! Thank you! We will be back again!
This was my third visit and the 4 of us were very disappointed. The octopus and fresh pea soup were delicious, but all 4 of our entries were very delayed in the kitchen and not well prepared at all. It was obvious that the chef was not present and the substitutes were not up to par. I hope this will be remedied or we won’t be coming back again.
Great food and great atmosphere - definitely eat on the porch in the summer months!
As always, excellent flavors, fresh ingredients, great service!
Exceptional service and food! The Hamachi was beyond incredible, as was the Budino, but everything we ate was great. The building and gardens are very pretty and the restaurant has a perfect balance of casual and classy. We’ll be back for sure!
Food and service were remarkable! We will be back!
Chef Budi and team do such wonderful cuisine with seasonal farm to table vegetables and fruits paired with fresh daily caught fish. Truly amazing experience in Santa Ynez Valley.
As usual, food and service outstanding!
Great service !.. great food ... and the chef was present in the dining room interacting with guests
The gathering table is a favorite of ours when we are in the Santa ynez area! The food and service are always top notch. My husband loves the halibut! It is a small intimate location, make sure to make a reservation!
Dinner was excellent and will definitely recommend your place and come again
The pork belly appetizer was delicious. I had the duck, which was great, but not the best duck breast I have had.
Food was amazing, service was excellent. This is our go to for dinner every time we are in town.
Everything was excellent and I would definitely go back. The service, ambience, and especially the food was outrageous. I recommend the himachi.
Keith was one of the best waiters we have ever had, as he totally steered us in the right direction with wine choices, as well as food. Loved it here!
After having missed eating at this restaurant several times previously we had a wonderful experience. It was delicious, different, and so yummy. From the appetizers, thru entrees and on to dessert we shared plates and therefore were able to experience so many wonderful flavors and textures. It was a delightful experience. We sat on the porch and were given fantastic service from their staff..
Food was good, but was heavy on the salt (too heavy). Not sure what happened, but my wife got sick after eating the appetizers (kale salad, octopus, and the special uni). Can’t say it was the food for sure, because I ate everything she did and I was fine. The restaurant atmosphere overall was very friendly and welcoming. We had a table to ourselves since we were celebrating our anniversary.
We had such an amazing meal. From appetizer to salads, dinner ending with dessert.
Are waitress Christie was great!
We will definitely be coming back...
Amazing food and service.
As always a great meal at this restaurant. Budi is a great chef that can make every dish taste great. Highly recommend.
Outstanding dining experience. We will be back
We went for our wedding anniversary. The filet and the hangar steak are both wonderful. Definitely get the hamachi too!
One of our favorite restaurants. Budi always delivers a great meal and evening.
Food was good but there just wasn't enough. I went home and had a leftover slice of pizza. Not a good value.
Eat the best food of your lifetime! We started with porkbelly and cabbage fondue--a cross between bacon and a delicious boneless pork rib, topped with unique slaw. We also had the cauliflower tempura, which tasted amazing. For main courses, we had chicken with chimichurri and halibut in rice paper. So creative, and the flavors were indescribable.
The food was amazing, the service was just right and we even got to meet the chef! I highly recommend The Gathering Table!
Our first time at GT and a new favorite in SY Valley. Truly a wonderful experience - food, service and ambiance all excellent!
Everything was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As always the food was delicious! We both had the filet and it was perfect. The Kale salad is wonderful! Our choice for dessert was the budino and it was great! Only downside to dinner was that it was so noisy from the large table group we couldnt hear each other in our booth.
The food here is always very good and the staff are very nice.
Terrific place. Great food, attentive service. They were running slow due to two large parties before us and they proactively let us know and brought out a lovely appetizer in the mean time. Class act. Will eat here every time we head up to the area. Make reservations early though - they are busy!
I have liked this place before, but this trip my fish was served raw in the middle. I sent it back and was still charged full price. Disappointed.
Very different and interesting dining experience. This restaurant is in The Ballard Inn, a beautiful hotel with a B&B feel to it. The environment is quite homey, kinda reminiscent of high end Little House on the Prairie. But don't be fooled (like I was!) The food is very much Asian fusion. Although we started with a yummy caesar salad, each of the other dishes definitely had an Asian flair, i.e. shu mai, broccolini, salmon, and coconut sorbet for dessert. We were told the dishes were meant to be shared, but the two of us definitely came away a little hungry. I thought everything was pretty tasty, especially the sorbet.
What a great place. Loved every bite! We will be back soon. Thank you!
Outstanding, tasty, food. And very original. Good ambiance. Excellent service. A great place.
We have stayed at Ballard Inn previously. This time we were staying elsewhere. Upon arrival we asked if we could sit at a booth that was empty. We were told something like they couldn't reset the table. A few moments later a couple was seated there and when we inquired we were told it had to do with when the reservation was made. Ours was made a month earlier so not sure about that answer. I would guess it was locals who had requested a booth. They should have simply told us that and we would have understood. We sat at our table for sometime before a server showed up and that was after we asked for one. The server was very polite and accommodating. The meal was slow to be served, for which the server volunteered that the kitchen was backed up (the restaurant was half full at that time). The food was quite good, no complaints there, but the service could be improved so as to be a plus not a negative.
Food was delicious. Had the mushroom appetizer that was out of this world. Ordered bread to sop up the sauce. 😊 The kale salad was also yummy, perfect amount of dressing and the ingredients blended well with my taste buds. Had the fresh fish with roasted turnips. I’m not a big turnip fan, but they were good and the amazing sauce made everything come together nicely. We even got to meet the chef!
