Fantastic and we would definitely go back. Felt a little neglected by our server for a fine dining restaurant, but it wasn't terrible.

All around excellent! The menu was very different from anywhere I’ve eaten before and every bite was outstanding! A bit on the pricey side, but we came away feeling satisfied and that it was well worth every penny!

Always a great time and very good food that is not the typical everyday fare dumped out at mot other restaurants. The meat appetizer and the wild boar for an entrée was great - tender and flavorful, the way meat should be. Great service and, as always, the bread pudding is great - get it with the drizzle on the side or it may be too sweet for you. No complaints from the three other table guests. Great wine selection as well for those who partake. A definite must. Figure about $100-130/person (glass of wine, table appetizer, salad, entrée and definitely the bread pudding for dessert).

This is one of the best dining experiences you’ll find anywhere. The food is amazing. The pairing of meats, vegetables and seasoning and sauces is superb. Bar and wine selection holds up well. The wait staff absolutely rocks. There’s a good reason it’s always a packed house and you need advance reservations.

Our waitress was great! I was so excited to eat something I’ve never had before. I ate the Bison and it was okay, nothing great! For the price we paid it should have be amazing! They put a table of fourteen behind us, we could not hear ourselves talk. Beautiful cabin tucked back into the mountains but I don’t care to come back again.

Not my cup of tea, disappointing when you think of what this place charges, I was not impressed, I’m just used a higher end experience when I drop $250 on Dinner for two with 1 glass of wine for my wife and 1 cocktail for me. I have friends that love the place, but I don’t see it.

Our son likes dishes that tend to be unusual and a little on the wild side and taking him there was a great excuse to go. We all enjoyed it from start to finish! I’m sure we won’t wait until he’s in town to come back ourselves. We may even check out the wine list next time. The vegetables were a great addition to the dishes.

Everything was great in this place. The meet is special and I really liked the mixed grill appt. I highly recommend for everyone who would like to taste the mountains meet. They have great Elk dish that can be eaten rare, medium or what so ever. The banana pudding was piece of art. Thanks for a well crafted menu and dishes.

Just WOW!! This was my first time at the Gamekeeper and was very impressed. The waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu. The wine went great with our dinner. The emu was delicious and cooked to perfection. The strawberry shortcake was just divine and the mushroom bisque was perfect for the summer weather.

We recently celebrated our 10th anniversary up in Boone and had dinner at Gamekeeper. The hubby had the elk with bleu mac n cheese and i had the crusted trout with grit cake, both were amazing!! The restaurant itself is beautiful and very unique. The staff was very friendly, and they all made mention of our anniversary! Save room for desert.. the chocolate martini cheesecake was incredible!! Hope to return again soon!! P.S.. make a weekend of it and stay at Crestwood!

We like unusual dishes and Gamekeeper complies. This an expensive meal but we only partake occasionally. Very long wine list. They were out of our choice but we found another good option. We like the game platter appetizer for variety. Bison a bit well done and had wished for something more unique than duck. Our entrees, elk and rainbow trout, were both delicious. Side items were very tasty too. Our only complaint was, with a reservation, we were seated next to a loud speaking party when two corners of the room were empty. Why does this always happen to us? We will return and ask for a corner table.

We have dined there before, so we had had the elk and bison and emu, which are all incredible. This time I had the pasta dish (with duck confit) and it may have been the best thing I have ever eaten. Maybe it was the ambiance and 5 star service, but it was really good. If you have not been.... go.

We were in Blowing Rock for a get away weekend and wanted a very nice evening meal. Gamekeeper did not disappoint. We had bison and duck that were superb with sides to match. The wine list is distinctively different, but pared well with our meal. Our server was over the top helpful with all of our questions and extremely pleasant and fun. Gamekeeper is on our list of return to places.
Also, a few tables away was a birthday celebration. I have never heard a more beautiful or well sung birthday song.

Although I am aware that this is a AAA star rated restaurant, there were a few things about Gamekeeper that were questionable. First of all, the food was fine and In Fairness to the chef, the options were a bit over the top for us (this why it’s called gamekeeper) but the presentation was very nice. It’s very pricey! I had beef tenderloin which was cooked to my specified order. My hubby had fish which was fine. Here’s the few things that bothered us....the restaurant itself is in disrepair. Chipping paint everywhere outside, visible garbage cans everywhere, cooking staff at the entrance (the entrance looks like it should be the back of the restaurant). The outside just looks dirty. Our waitress was great, very personable (Laura). The inside is more quaint and orderly. It’s just time for an overhaul outside.

Always a great meal and experience. Seated inside, near the patio doors which were left open, so we had some tiny winged critters joining us for dinner. Not the worst, but definitely impacted the ambiance this trip.
