Perfect date night. We enjoying going for a birthday or anniversary. The food is always so great and the service is too. It's amazing how all the food pairs so nicely. Save room for dessert, because the bread pudding is a must.
The Gamekeeper never disappoints. Ken and Wendy continue to be innovative in their offerings while staying true to the traditional fare that has earned the GK repeat visits by so many regular customers. Enough can't be said about the staff as well...from the valets to the hostess station to the bartenders to the servers to the kitchen staff...they all work well together to coordinate an experience that is memorable...every time!
Our server Tay was the best in history. Will request her when we return '
The Gamekeeper is, quite simply, an outstanding restaurant in our area.
We were attracted to the Gamekeeper by all the positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was contrary to that of most reviewers. Service and setting were fine however, the entrees (elk, trout, flounder and veggie) were a disappointment.
Great game and Wine was terrific would recommend to people whom like wild game
Outstanding food! This is the place for things you won't find in other restaurants. Elk tenderloin and crawdads is a twist on the traditional surf and turf [they call it Field and Stream] and it is . My wife had the duck which was tender and cooked to perfection. The only thing I would change is that tables are a bit close if there is a noisy party nearby, but I certainly wouldn't let that stop me from going back. Very friendly staff, attentive without being intrusive.
Recommended for a foray into creative dining and a nice place to take a date.
As usual, the food was amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Boone area.
The food was excellent and the ambiance even better.
The menu is so inviting it made experimenting with new flavors and wild game meats I intimidating. Learned that I love Emu at least as it is prepared here at Gamekeepers!
This is the 2nd time I've been to The Gamekeeper - it doesn't disappoint. I highly recommend this restaurant.
If you plan to drink; get a car service to take you and pick you up!
The food was fantastic, the wait staff was friendly, knowlegable and efficient. I was eating alone, they made me feel very much at home. My waitress Taylor was a gem.
Excellent, unique food. We tried Elk, Emu, Rabbit, Alligator, Pheasant and Bison. All were outstanding. The Emu was our absolute favorite!
We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food...so much so that we’re already planning a return visit for the 10th of March!
This was hands down the best meal my wife and I have ever had. It was the most expensive meal we've ever had, but worth every penny. The drinks were perfect, the game sampler appetizer allowed us to taste meats we never would have tried. And my elk Denver leg roast was cooked to perfection. My wife's flounder was amazing as well. The vegetables that came with the meal were fresh, flavorful, and unusual. We like trying new foods, so it was everything we were looking for. May I recommend the emu? Our server knew the menu like the back of her hand, and made some fantastic suggestions for drinks to accompany the food based on our taste (my wife was looking a cocktail that was not sweet and wine that was dry, I just like whiskey.) Unfortunately we were too full to try the desserts, however the table next to us ordered a cheesecake of some sort that looked to die for. If it was anything like the rest of the food, o wish I had saved some room for it.
Everything was AMAZING except the music. It was So loud and it was surfer type music. It made me feel like I should be eatting over priced chicken fingers in Typhoon Lagoon and not the lovely and wonderful food that I was.
Great menu and specials. One of the best restaurants in the area
One of the highlights of our year. We try to go every Valentine's weekend. It's my wife favorite place. It's always exceptional.
The best date I’ve ever gotten to take my girlfriend on for a very special occasion will definitely be back!
Taylor was a wonderful server, she was excellent at multitasking.
Very nice setting , good service . Food was good ,but was not hot when served . Music selection needs updating .
Amazing Food! My husband and I went here for Valentine's day and it was perfect. We got the meat sampler appetizer that had Elk, Emu, Alligator sausage and Buffalo sausage. It was by far some of the best food I have ever ate. Our entrees and dessert were wonderful as well. I highly recommend the Emu Filet if it is available (the menu changes nightly). The waitstaff was excellent. Very friendly, helpful and attentive. It is pricey but worth it. Will defiantly be returning.
We had our Family Valentines Dinner Saturday night and once again the culinary experience was superb. The mixed grill and rabbit apitizers were great. Our entrees Axis Deer, Bison Filet, Phesant, Pecan crusted Trout, Elk, and Flounder we’re prepared to perfection. The wait staff was attentive with out being intrusive. The deserts are always incredible. The GameKeeper remains as one of the top dinning destinations in the High Country!
What a lovely experience we had at the restaurant. Loved the ambience, our server was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was fabulous.
Amazing food, amazing service, eclectic and entertaining music, kitschy ambience, unique dining experience all around. We'll be back!
Amazing as usual! Food was great, great service, good drinks!
Awesome meal with ecletic offerings....high recommend!!
Farm to table elegance. Wonderful, informed staff. Cozy, special.
Had a great date with my fiance and we loved the mixed grill which let us try a little of all the offered exotic meats. Will be back.
Amazing! The experience, food, and staff were! Our waiter Noah took very good care of us. It was very relaxing and enjoyable! The food is an unbelievable experience in your mouth, perfection! Would definitely recommend this hidden gem!
Can't wait to go back! This place is amazing! The oysters were absolutely perfect. The waiter was a doll, everything was perfect.
Great atmosphere, outstanding food, superior service.
Had been anticipating a meal at the GateKeeper for several years and somehow hadn't managed it. It was even better than expected. The preparations were outstanding
We had an exceptionally good experience. Originally it was a table for 2 but we had to change it to 6 at the last minute. We were accommodated with no issues. As always the staff was amazing and the service was impeccable. We have recommended the Gamekeeper to several of our friends whom have also visited and came back thanking us Tremendously. This is a must stop place anytime we are in the area. Thank you for a memorable experience.
Returned for our second visit, and appreciated the changing menu, seasonal options, knowledgeable staff and altogether culinary adventure. If you are visiting the Boone/Blowing Rock area, treat yourself to a food journey at the Gamekeeper.
The food at the Gamekeeper is always great. Lots of dishes you won't see anywhere else. The atmosphere is laid back and our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. You won't want to miss this local gem.
Only my second time here but is always great on service and best of all the food is fantastic.
Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions from the menu. A very unique menu. The food was amazing. We will definitely be going back again. Our server gave us what felt like one on one service.
What a cozy place to dine on a cold snowy night. My trout was excellent!
On this particular New Years Eve night, the dinner was pre selected for us and was an 8 course meal starting at 8:30. Presentation was lovely and foods paced so that all was complete by around 11:00. Food was truly fine dining, with caviar, emu, elk steak, duck, lobster bisque, baked Alaska. Chose this restaurant partly because live music was scheduled for NYE festivities. There was no music as we were told the band “ was a no show” due to a recent snow fall. Very disappointing. Parking is scarce and on a steep incline. I felt the house turned restaurant was quite cramped. Travel to coat rack, and bathroom shared same pathway with kitchen staff, and waitstaff, so very congested. $$
