Tremendous restaurant!!! Can’t wait to return.
Outstanding food and impeccable service. We had the bison hanger steak and bison short ribs.
Excellent restaurant, one of the best out of many I have experienced!
Very enjoyable dinner for celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
Great place to experience different entrees. The duck was great.
I've eaten at the Gamekeeper several times and am always impressed with this restaurant. The food, the drinks, the staff, the ambiance are all first rate. I'm never disappointed with menu choices from appetizers to entrees to the dessert. Everything is paired well and simply delicious.
Gamekeeper has a very creative menu featuring exotic meats with local fresh assortment of veggies prepared perfectly and presented well. for those that do not like exotic game, there are also dishes with more "normal" fare such as duck, trout, beef. Service was excellent and friendly.
We were honeymooners and were treated royally! We have already recommended your restaurant to friends! Lovely place. Wonderful food!
My husband and I enjoyed the entire dinner experience. ALL of the staff were very attentive from the moment we pulled up, throughout dinner and again when we left. Our first visit, but certainly not our last.
Our server, Laura, was great. Very knowledgeable with menu and awesome all the way around!
Had a great Birthday dinner! Mixed grill excellent, as always, as well as the Bison short rib & hanging tenderloin.
Missed your great boar on the menu but everything was delicious!
One of the best meals I’ve had in NC. We had the escargot, duck and steak. Will definitely be going back.
We were visiting the Boone area for the first time and had heard a lot of good things about the Gamekeeper. We enjoyed our evening from the valet greeter to the entire staff to the location to the views to the overall ambiance. (By the time we walked down the stairs after the evening our car was waiting for us. A very nice touch.) We ordered the Mixed Game Grill which was excellent -- especially the rattlesnake/rabbit sausage. The only ding on the evening was the trout which was extremely dry and not up to par with anything else at the restaurant. It was a disappointment especially given our high expectations. Our guess is that it is an aberration and we would try Gamekeeper again.
Excellent experience on two visits while staying in the N.C. Mountains. Our of the way location is fun. Emphasis on Game is unique and everything is exceptionally well prepared. Locally sourced vegetables are a special treat. Friendly and excellent service.
Absolutely fabulous. Food flavours just tremendous for every course. Great salad with balance of pickled onions and sugared walnuts. Entrees again great balance of flavours and beautifully presented. Finished off with a desert that again had great combination of subtle flavours. A thoroughly enjoyable evening made even better by great service from all staff topped by hostess singing a table side birthday blessing. We’ve been many times over the years and never disappointed.
The Gamekeeper is by far my favorite restaurant. The food and atmosphere are unbeatable. We started our meal with perfectly prepared escargot. Then we shared the Catch of the day and the Emu. Both entrees were immaculate. We had a lovely cheesecake for desert. Our table was by the window so we enjoyed watching deer graze while dining. It was a perfect evening.
This was truly a memorable dining experience. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. The duck and bison dinners were both cooked to perfection and the meals’ presentations were surpassed only by their taste. Topping off the meal with the Bourbon Bread Pudding was a perfect finish. Highly recommend The Gamekeeper!
Quality of the food was excellent, but the size of the meat in the entrees did not justify the premium price.
The food was delicious and service was excellent. Our group had the mountain trout, braised bison short ribs and the fish special, which was toothfish served with ceviche. All dishes were so good!!
The food here is amazing! Entree's are unique and which sets them apart. They chef is extremely talented and you are able to taste this through the sides he chooses with each type of game. The staff is absolutely wonderful and are very knowledgeable about what the restaurant offers. The atmosphere was a bit on the louder side cause by the conversations by everyone dining; however some louder than others. In all a very wonderful restaurant.
Every dish at our table was exceptional. I love a good short rib and the bison rib i had was near perfect.
Always a favorite - the food is exciting and delicious and the service is always 5 star!
Love the GK
Excellent food and drinks. Beautiful mountain setting. Great service
Unique plates. Great menu to enhance your holiday in the mountains.
Dinner was fabulous
Had to wait 30 minutes for our reservation however the hostess made it up by regularly checking on us.
Our server was not as good as others as we didn’t receive explanations and was slow.
The food and service were amazing! Our every need and expectation was meet
another spectacular dinner, as always, at this....one of the very best restaurants in the entire state!!
My wife and I have eaten here several times, and it is always a creative, foodie experience.
It just does not get any better. Love the people, food and atmosphere! All a unique and incredible experience.
This was our first time and we really enjoyed it. The food was absolutely wonderful. Great service! Our wine glasses NEVER went empty. Thanks for a GREAT dining experience.
Best meal I've had in years. It was hard to choose from the so many delicious options. The fried oyster appetizer included the best fried oysters I've ever eaten. The red salad with smoked salmon outstanding. The duck was perfection. And the house specialty dessert, the bread pudding, is not to be missed. Our server was attentive. The ambience quiet and restful. All food was beautifully presented. Couldn't have been improved on. Thank you so much!
Nice setting felt like we were over sold by our server. Should have gone with our own selection.
Our favorite restaurant! We come every time we vacation in Blowing Rock/Boone area
We came here for our anniversary. We have a vacation home in the area and had always wanted to dine at the gamekeeper. We have dined at every other restaurant in the high country. I consider myself to be a good cook and have worked in a few restaurants in my younger years and am often slightly disappointed after eating out. Always thinking about what could make it better...I was hoping that the gamekeeper would not disappoint. We were not disappointed but for us it just didn’t live up to the hype. The food was very over priced for the portions. And it just didn’t blow us away. When you pay 40 bucks for an entree, the expectation is that you will be blown away. It was just ok. Nothing exceptional. Sorry. Really wanted to love it.
The meal had a lot of vegetables, but a very small portion of meat... they may need to offer a larger protein portion on their menu or notify the customer that there focus is serving primarily vegetables and not the meat.
The food was very good, but there were flies and gnats on the food and in the beverages. The noise level was also a challenge on this Saturday night. These problems might arisen from seating the six of us just outside the kitchen door at a table for eight. I would suggest you use a sound absorbing moveable screen to block the view of the kitchen door constantly opening and closing. This would mean all servers would have to make a quick right hand turn out of the kitchen, but they do that anyway most of the time. Such an addition would reduce the floor space in that room, but two small tables for 4 each might work and would still allow seating for eight.
Decided to check out The Gamekeeper before a show at App State. The drive is beautiful and the setting does not disappoint. The food was really outstanding, with the service you would expect. I highly recommend!
We had wonderful unique food and would go back in a heartbeat!
The service was friendly and on point, ambience perfect and food was delicious. The best meal I have had for a very long time.
They were clearly understaffed Aug 1. We arrived 30 minutes early for a 7:00 dinner reservation and waited for 10-15 minutes at the bar for a glass of wine. There was only one bartender taking care of all those at the bar and the wait staff placing orders for their seated customers.
Our waitress was pleasant and probably did her best but she was a little slow too. I think she just had too many tables.
My husband and I are n't big game eaters so we were pleased they offered a pasta dish and salmon that were both enjoyed.
