Great place to go pre or post theatre. Good food, interesting menu. My server seemed a bit overwhelmed, but speed of service was fine.

What an awful experience! It took about 15 minutes before we were even noticed at the front of the restaurant by the hostess who looked like she was serving food to tables. When she finally greeted us, she didn't even check our reservation and led my husband and I to a table. We waited another 10 minutes and no waiter came to us to take our order, or offer us drinks, so we walked out! The worst part is that no one even noticed that we walked out! Terrible, terrible service and we will not be stepping foot in this place in the future, nor recommending it to others. What a missed opportunity - they could really cash in on being right by all the theaters and catering to the early dinner crowd who are then going on to the theater.

Located in the W Hotel in Boston's theatre district, this restaurant offers both high top, bar and standard seating. The room handles noise well and is comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient and the bar was of high quality. We began with tuna tartare which was prepared well with great corn chips. Mains were a burger (great) and a baked salmon in broth with overcooled potatoes and undercooked green beans. It was flavorful nonetheless. There is one strange thing. A charge appeared for "rocks" at 2 dollars. Seems that there is an uncharge for "rocks" which is not explained prior to ordering and makes no sense. Why not charge an appropriate price per drink rather than an a la carte charge. Perhaps 3 dollars for the glass?? strange.

Food was good to very good, but the service was disorganized and confused. Our waitress was friendly and doing her best, but overloaded. The staff bringing food from the kitchen didn't know much about the orders. 10 minutes after ordering a glass of wine I was told that they were out of it - the delay apparently because of the search. Then another 10 mins to get the replacement choice. The first course was a salad - and it took half an hour to get that, after the waitress had checked with us after 20 mins to find out if we'd already had it. The main course came about 5 mins after the salad, which was supposed to have been the appetizer. 5 minutes after that came dessert - which I sent back because I'd just started the main course. Of course it then took a great effort to get the dessert back when the time came, but time had gone and I had just a few minutes to eat dessert before having to leave for a show. The people at the table next to us also had problems getting their dessert.

We had a great time at The Gallery on Friday night! Danielle, the hostess, was amazing! She even got us a table in the lounge after dinner since we were meeting friends for a birthday celebration. Thank you, Danielle!! We will definitely be back again!!

We went for dinner on a Thursday night. Our server was friendly and helpful has we had questions about the drinks and food. The appetizers and meals were delivered with great timing. All of our meals (chicken, salmon, and steak) were perfectly prepared and we gladly sampled each other’s food. The steak could’ve been a little better quality but overall it was decent. We each got dessert. The sorbet and Tahitian vanilla ice cream were delicious. Would gladly go back!

Started here with a night out to the theatre. Waitstaff were superb. The restaurant is very cozy with nice decor. The entrees however were a bit of a disappointment. They were beautiful in presentation but were not at all flavorful. More time needs to be spent on
taste vs. presentation. I don’t mind paying but come on guys please get someone in the kitchen who cares and you will have a real diamond!

Although we really enjoyed the ambience and food of this restaurant they pulled a very crappy thing on the check which I have never seen or experienced before. They charged an extra $2 for rocks for my husbands Absolute on the rocks with olives. When I asked about it the waitress said that they give more vodka when it’s on the rocks. Well that was bull since the drink was on the light side to begin with. My husband has been drinking Absolute for many years. So his drink was $15 while my wine was less. I don’t care about the prices. It’s the principal and should have been told upfront. The manager agree but we didn’t wait around for him to take it off the bill since he didn’t rush back to give us a new bill and we were going to the theater. So that put a real damper on the whole experience!!!! Will think twice about going back unfortunately.

So, I didn't even go, my husband and my daughter went with a friend of my daughter's before play and they couldn't stop talking about how great their dinner was. They said all of the food was good but the chocolate lava cake they had for dessert was truly memorable.

My wife and I stayed at the W Hotel. Went to an early dinner before the theater. The food was very good little pricey but we enjoyed it. We would probably go back again before show.

We enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent, but the enormous TV looming over us was an unwelcomed intrusion. We won’t go there again because we go to dinner in part to get away from the news, not to have it forced on us.

Restaurant was basically empty, yet we sat there for about 25 minutes waiting for our server to come by. Once she did, it was fine.. But it shouldn't take that long esp when we were 1 of 3 couples in the entire place. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular, but for $135 we had two meals, an app, dessert, and 2 $16 drinks, which was good. It just felt very hotel-y. Nothing special.

Went on Saturday Dec 23 at 6pm and were the only ones in the restaurant which was weird. The food was ok but way over priced for what we received. The menu was extremely limited but the service was very good. of course we were the only ones there. Overall I would not go here again mainly because of the limited menu and price.

After a call and a text the restaurant the day before confirming the reservation, I received a call at 2:30 the day of the reservation saying the restaurant would be closed but we could sit on the lounge. We did because we were going to the theater that night and all other restaurants were completely full. Manager said he came into work and was told that restaurant would be closed so start calling people. Here's response to that lack of customer service...we won't be back!

Cocktails were overpriced. Service took so long that two of our neighboring tables had to get up and leave to go to their show before their meals came. We weren't in a rush but the wait was not worth the cost and the quality of the food did not make up for it. Would not recommend.

Upon arrival, we told the server we were going to the theatre and had 2 hours to eat. We waited 20 minutes to order drinks and another 20 minutes to get the drinks. We waited a total of 90 minutes and the food still hadn't come. We asked the server when the food was going to be ready, she went into the kitchen and never came back to our table. No explanation, nothing. We had to go find her (chatting behind the bar) to pay for the drinks. We left and headed to the theatre with 3 hungry kids.
Pathetic....

The food was decent, but nothing spectacular. The restaurant has a nice vibe to it, being part of the W hotel. I really like the different art work around the place. The service was really good and friendly! I would come back for drinks.

Made a reservation at the Gallery however it was closed for an event. Had to make do with the lounge bar, supposedly with the same menu. The grilled chicken had probably been grilled many times over - it was tough and without taste. The calamari was so-so, not much calamari but a lot of fried baking soda flour!
Wished the restaurant made reservation not available when it was booked for events.

Service was very slow. We felt forgotten about. We ordered 6 items, expecting them to arrive as 2 appetizers and then 2 entrees with 2 sides. Instead, after a very long wait for the food, all 6 plates came out at the same time. They could not fit all on our table. Dumb timing planning. I sent back the 2 sides and asked that they keep them warm so when we'd finished our 1st 4 plates they could return them. When asked for the two last plates, it took forever. But, the food itself was quite good. And the setting was nice and so convenient for theatre. It just seems badly managed. My dining partner, along time hotel waiter in a very high end hotel tried to tell me the problem was the kitchen not the servers.I assume he is right due to his experience. But it certainly looked and felt like there weren't nearly enough servers. Especially since they are running food out to the outside large bar too.

Busy night at the restaurant. Our table was close to the bar area, which was very busy. We had theatre tix, but they were on top of the service, making sure we wouldn't be late. Another waitress helped our waitress with the drink order, very pleasant. our waitress delivered them, but she seemed out of sort this eve. It did all work out. the food was delicious, and our waitress seemed to get more on top of it all. We did have a nice eve, great food, etc... We love this place, and will be back again.

Great restaurant. We got confused and came in on the wrong date. Staff was accommodating and found us room in the bar. Room was modern and comfortable. Food was very tasty and memorable. Dessert was fantastic. Bar tender made creative drinks and made it a point to check in periodically with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I can't wait to go back.

The short ribs were positively delightful -- a real standout. I'm not sure I've ever eaten anything so tender (no knife required). The apple-jalapeño purée was a nice blend of tartness and heat, and the rosemary crumbs added wonderful flavor and texture. The appetizers and desserts were also quite good, but they didn't quite measure up to the main. To top it off, we had the friendliest waitress imaginable, which made for a very pleasant dining experience.

This was our first visit to Boston so after reviewing many restaurants for restaurant week we decided to try this one. We had the dinner pri fix menu and from start to finish We cleaned our plates. We had the salmon tartare, sweet pea soup, Crispy chicken, braised short ribs, & dessert. The ribs were cooked to perfection! The chicken was crispy and delicious. The entire staff catered to us including the manager who came to our table and spoke to us for several minutes. We will definitely return here on our next visit to Boston! This restaurant is a must try!

If you have eaten at Jean George's and The Mercer Kitchen in New York, you will be disappointed with Market. The calamari appetizer and the BALT were lackluster and the pizza had a badly burned crust. The special corn ravioli and the chocolate pudding were delicious. Our waitress was loud, unrefined and bossy. Our party of three agreed that we would not go back.

We were 45 minutes late for our reservation due to traffic and we only had 45 minutes to eat before getting to the theatre. They offered us a seat at the bar, told us to relax and they would take care of us. We each ordered a drink and our meal; enjoyed the drink (which the bartender half refilled at no charge!), the meal arrived on time, was delicious, and we made it to the play in time. We could not have asked for more!

Not really a Jean George experience. Adequate food, nothing special or unique. Service warm and friendly, and close to theater district.
