It was nice to finally get out! We were going to sit outside but it wasn't too crowded
so we went in. Our waitress was wonderful the Somalia recommended a delicious wine we don't usually order; we'll order again! Kale salad with lobster for me and Lobster BLT for my husband delicious!
I know it's Covid. I ordered soup and a salad. The soup was bland, bland, bland. Because there are no salt and pepper shakers on table, I couldn't improve it. The salad--mixed greens was fine--over dressed. M friend ordered beets which she said were good but her pasta dish was very light on pasta.
We need places like the Gage to stay open. It starts with the kitchen.
We have been going to the Gage for over 10 years and it never disappoint! The service is great not to mention the cocktails and food.
Love this place. I come here every time I visit Chicago!
Attentive host and well-spoken waiter. Great wine recommendation and flakey, fresh salmon.
Beautiful bar with great drinks. The mussels were phenomenal as well as the salmon and steak.
The brunch menu is below average with only 3 or 4 choices. Definitely not recommended for brunch.
Great robsee the Gage back in business. One of the best bars and restaurants in Chicago. Menu was limited compared to the past but we did not care - open for business and delighted to be eating at the Gage. 5 Stars. Please support your local businesses.
Always a delicious meal with well blended flavors served by a knowledgeable staff.
The food was excellent. We ordered salads with chicken and the chicken was moist and delicious. The service was not great however.
They are doing a great job during Covid. Very accommodating and delicious food.
Food was delicious. Service was also good. We sat outside on a chilly night but next to a heat lamp so that worked too.
Outstanding destination for a casual evening date. Outstanding drinks and food.
Wes is the best!
The patio outside is lovely and spacious. The food service is fast. The food quality is delicious.
Good food but too much noise from bar when I was their and was irritated that when ordering a Coke I got an 8oz bottle for $3.00- Not going back because of that-
Food was very good and service was equally as good
The pumpkin swirl cheesecake was incredible. I can barely remember what else we had.
Everything was good except for our server. He was short with us and didn't seem to care about the experience. At one point we asked him to take a group photo for us and he said No that he didn't have time. The manager and the owner were there and seemed very friendly and pleasant. Food was tasty but my burger was undercooked and they never brought the mustard I asked for. I would go back again just hope to get a different server.
Good after museum lunch. Venison sandwich and fries was great. Rest of meal just ok
The patio is lovely. The staff is careful- masked and distanced. The service and the food were lovely as always.
With so much closed in the loop, It is so nice to see the Gage open and performing at their usual high standard.
It was amazing the food the service everything was perfect
Great lunch! Started with seasonal gin & tonics. We had delicious apple salads, split a side of roasted brussel spouts (who knew brussel sprouts could be tasty?) and a chocolate mousse dessert. Will be back!
The overall experience was good. There were some COVID precautions in place (servers wearing masks, 5-6ft +/- distancing between tables and at the bar). We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation and had a couple of drinks at the bar. We requested to sit outside for dinner which wasn't such a great idea because it was drizzling and cold, the umbrella didn't cover the table completely, and the heat lamp wasn't very warm. The food was amazing. We the buffalo cauliflower as a starter, and the half (quarter) chicken and burger as the main dish. All very good. The downside was the waitress was really busy so we waited an extra 20 min or so for her to take our order and about as long to take our check. So there was a lot of unnecessary time in the rain.
Very tasty food and great service
Bad experience started from the point of where they sat us. Too much to go into but suffice it to say we were put to the side to serve a more local customer. Ordered food and had to send it back twice. First steak over cooked then steak under cooked. Finally got it right and the steak was good but not worth $43! Our server was great but the manager had attitude. The only reason I gave them all threes and not lower was the manager did make our bad experience better in the end by comping our entire meal and I thank her for that. Don’t think we’ll return but if we do I would hope for a better experience.
The foood and service was outstanding. I'd highly recommend the ceviche and the King salmon. Yum :)
The Gage has been one of my favorites since I moved to the city. Now that I live in the Loop and have seen that they’re taking COVID precautions very seriously, I’ll be there much more!
Food was phenomenal. Such a cute place for a date night or dinner with friends. And if you like an old fashioned you have to try the Irish Old Fashion!
Great experience. I enjoyed the food, the service, and the patio. However, there was a bird that slammed really hard into the glass of the building and fell on me. I’m terrified of birds and I think the bird was terrified of me. But it got up and flew away. Didn’t get into my food or anything, but they definitely keep their glass clean.
It was a good date night
Booked this for our first wedding anniversary. Everything on their website suggest this is a more upscale place, however I was seated next to people with Dunkin’ Donuts ice coffee and sweats at 7pm on a Saturday night. Each to their own on dress choice, but definitely not the expectation for a nicer place. All guests were packed into one side room whilst the rest of the restaurant was empty, seemed to be one of the worst displays of social distancing staff any restaurant I’ve visited during the pandemic.
Neither the host nor waited acknowledged our wedding anniversary despite me leaving that in the special notes.
Food overall was disappointing. Scallops appetizer was fantastic, well cooked with a great sauce. Fish and chips for the entree was the most disappointing. Batter was soggy and floury, although the fish was reasonable.
My wife had the chicken. Priced close to $30 but does not include a side. When the chicken arrived, there was every part of the chicken other than the breast. Paying that price for the cheap cuts is ridiculous.
If I’d paid $15 for each appetizer in a bar, I’d feel quite content. The prices charged here are in no way correlated to the standard of food or the ambience inside.
If you are looking for an elegant, nicer dining experience, Chicago has far far better options within the same price range, most notably Boka and Temporis.
Fish and chips and truffle fries were excellent. Ate outside so loud street noise but to be expected . Service food fabulous
Back to the city with my family
Nice outdoor seating setup. Noice from Michigan Ave to be expected. Always a great meal here.
Great food and wonderful service! The cocktail selections are fun and often change to keep it interesting.
Always a favorite in Chicago...the perfect cap to an Art Institute Visit. Recommended
Best e dining experience while we were Chicago! They did an awesome job with Covid and it felt like normal.
Fish n chips
