Great meal every time and we tend to frequent when in town whether for business or pleasure!
Our Sunday brunch was fantastic! At brunch both the brunch and lunch menus are available. We started by sharing an order of poutine from the lunch menu and it was every bit as yummy as we'd heard it would be. For brunch, my daughter had the french toast. Extraordinarily delicious. The huevos rancheros were also scrumptious. The pumpkin bread and crab cakes from the brunch menu were also very tasty. Service was excellent. The atmosphere has a dinner-time vibe, but was perfect for brunch on a cold rainy day.
First time dining there while visiting from out of town. It was a pre-symphony dinner for us. We were seated in the back room which was nice as it was less crowded and less noisy. The food was delicious and service was very good. Our waitress seemed a bit distant but still attentive. Overall a lovely meal and we would return.
Excellent food and service
Hostess was super nice and attentive and helped my elderly aunt while we briefly waited. Service was great and the drinks very yummy. My beet salad was good, but very small for $15. Also I ordered chicken with it but it tasted off to me and I didn't eat it. Buffalo Cauliflower side was amazing and I could eat it every day. Overall very happy with our meal.
Great food and awesome service. Also great drinks too
Delicious. Great service. Lovely ambience. Love this place.
Great food and drinks and very good service. I wonderful evening.
Very consistent high quality food, service, and ambiance. My server was excellent!
We had a delightful lunch at The Gage, our first time, and it won’t be our last. The atmosphere inside is casual, cozy elegance. Our server, Alastair, was most cordial and efficient in serving us. The daily specials of the carrot ginger soup, the crab cakes, the specialty scallop plate and the salmon sandwich were clear winners for our table. This restaurant has risen to the top tier for our times in Chicago. Thank you all!
Amazing food. Must order the cobbler
The Gage asked about the birthday event, but made no mention of it to the birthday girl?
The Hamachi Seviche was incredibly good, but not quite enough to sub for a meal. Order a side - the green beans were the perfect addition.
My favorite lunch place in Chicago, and I've been recommending The Gage from the time it first opened, to uniformly positive reviews!
Always great food and service.
Excellent food, excellent service, we got the pork chop and cheeseburger. Definitely make reservations ahead of time, as it was still very busy on a Monday night at 9:30.
Our server was beyond rude. She cut us off when we weren’t done speaking, we tried asking questions and she seemed annoyed about everything. She was acting as if she was doing us a favor, didn’t even say hello, we were baffled by the service. The food was decent and liked the atmosphere outdoor but the overall experience was disappointing.
Excellent service and food. Ate at The Gage several times while in Chicago.
Great this place was amazing. Definitely going back
Our server, Andy, was phenomenal! Delicious food and beverages. We went for brunch before the bears game. Fried pickles and crab Benedict were to die for!!! Cannot wait to return.
We had a great dining experience after we moved from the darkest corner of the restaurant where we couldn’t see our menus. Food was excellent and we had a friendly and attentive server.
Excellent food and service, even when it was really busy. Will be back.
Food and drinks were delicious, service was outstanding. We left our phone at the table and we got a call informing us of this before we even knew we didn't have our phone! Would absolutely recommend
Always enjoy The Gage. Menu is still a bit limited but the food is excellent and the service great.
First time there, just wanted a glass of sparkling something by the glass (.Prosecco, champagne, etc) and dessert. Server was ok, clearly very new and inexperienced. Offered us rose, it was dark red and very strong tasting with very little effervescence - almost like box wine in flavor. We asked for something else and she suggested brut champagne but we failed to ask the price. As we weren’t getting a bottle assumed similar price to rose by the glass.
Ordered chef’s sampling for dessert. Desserts were very dry and somewhat flavorless. Like they’d been sitting around for a long time.
My friend went to the washroom and after telling a server who happened to be in the washroom herself that there was a lot of water on the floor the server said “I don’t care about any of this sh*t, I’m just waiting to go home. I’ve been here since 7am.” It was around 8:30pm at this time.
We got the bill and discovered that our two glasses of champagne were $48 total. Our tab for two drinks, fries and one dessert $85 before tip.
The cocktails were very watery with no flavor. Too pricy for a glass of ice cubes.
The food was good but not exceptional.
Excellent meal, excellent service -awesome experience!
Everything was amazing !! Absolutely amazing !
We always enjoy dining at the Gage. Excellent service and topnotch food. Highly recommend!
The Gage is consistently great. We were seated in a booth, a request of mine that was granted. Our server Archie was excellent! Practically across the street from the Art Museum. Can't go wrong.
I always enjoy eating at Gage and Billy Lawless is the consummate owner and host.
Always an awesome time at The Gage... Scotch eggs and steak tartar very good!
Great food, delightful service. Great location for pre-theater meal. Charming and private outside seating on Michigan Avenue. Highly recommend
The Gage is my go to restaurant when meeting friends for lunch. A shout out to the Pulled Ham sandwich and the Coconut Cauliflower soup. So good! A few things have dropped off the menu though, that I really miss. The Poutine, the half sandwich and soup option, and the baked cheese and garlic toast appetizer. Hope to see them on the menu again.
we were so glad The Gage has survived. It has been one of our go-to spots in Chicago for years
Cousins in town for their anniversary. We got a lovely booth near the fireplace and had an incredible dinner. The historic cocktails were fantastic and really fun to read the descriptions and we were delighted with the etched glassware.
We ordered several appetizers and entrees and everything was beautiful and well prepared. We tried the Michigan apple cobbler for two and you could have easily served four! A warm skillet full of cobbler, a pitcher of dulce de leche, and bourbon ice cream. A perfect ending to a lovely night!
The Gage is a great place to dine with friends and family. My wife and I have been here 4 times and never once have we have been disappointed. The food is incredible. I am a foody and love to try different restaurants and find this place to meet my needs for variety. Every dish is incredibly tasty and satisfying to the palate. The wait staff is also very prompt, knowledgeable and very friendly. Will obviously be back to dine here again.
Great place to meet with out of town visitors since it's right on Michigan Avenue and has something for everyone.
Attentive, knowledgable, cordial service. The food exceeded our expectations.
Nice place with good food. Our server was excellent and sensitive to our time restrictions. Place is a little overpriced for lunch, even in downtown Chicago. Would like to see more options for salads and lighter fare.
