French omelet was good. Menu description included zucchini, spinach and brie. There was 1 piece of zucchini, the rest was squash, it was fine, I was just looking forward to zucchini.
The yogurt parfait was one of the best .
Really nice venue which was buzzing. Great service, great burger and a nice cold beer to wash it down. I will be back.
Service was poor. It’s a busy spot and it feels like they are trying to rush you out. Server was patronizing. Food was decent but over priced. Makes sense because it is a tourist spot. Love the ambiance.
Good food, great service, good wine selections all made for an enjoyable evening
Rosie, our server was wonderful.
The Gage staff was at the top of their game last night. The hosts greeted us and accommodated our seating preference immediately. We sat at the bar and were well taken care of by the bartender and team from start to finish. Great food and drinks, as always! All this keeps us coming back—-
The Gage never lets us down. We've been going there ever since our wedding night in 2008 and it is always a great experience.
Great food. Nice wine selection.
Excellent food and service (by Maggie), but just a tad pricey.
The creme brulee is poetry on a plate
The ambience is outstanding. There is just enough light to see what you are eating, but at the same time to not overtake the whole room. It is as if the brick walls and the hollow space that they surround are are softly enveloped in each other. The tables are private and nicely spaced so that there is enough room between them so that you aren't hearing the conversations of tables other then your own. There is a nice bar at the back. Food is decent though a bit pricey. Nonetheless, the desserts are definitely worth it ( highly recommend the strawberry truffle sunday). The drinks are also great. The servers are very friendly, sweet, kind, sociable, and considerate. The smiles on their faces are ones of genuine love for their job. Definitely worth a visit!
Meal was amazing. Drinks were delicious. We needed to pull our phones out to look at the menu.
Our server was unfriendly, slow and borderline rude. He seemed to want nothing more than to get us out of there.
As always, wonderful food with excellent service. Good selections of cocktails, wine, and beer. The restaurant can get a little noisy, but this is often due to particular patrons rather than anything the restaurant does.
Great, truffle fries are amazing
Great to be out
Great service - Ruthie was great
Awesome Buffalo cauliflower and g&t’s!
Mussels also superb!
We came to The Gage after a long day of doing the “tourist thing” in Chicago and were not disappointed. Our server was friendly and professional and took good care of us. Despite being crowded (Thursday night), the noise level was fairly low and we could carry in a conversation without difficulty.
The food was well-prepared and was served efficiently. Overall, an excellent dining experience.
I primarily visit Chicago to see friends and the Gage is always the restaurant I favor for catching up. Consistently great food and excellent service.
Scotch Eggs are amazing… fish & chips the best… great attention to detail on in the interior is amazing… we love the gage!
Lovely ambiance, great service, outstanding historical cocktails (how fun to see what era each drink was from!) and delicious food. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Food is outstanding while not pretentious. Service is thoughtful and attentive but not cloying. Perfect for lunch or dinner; steps awat from Millennium Park
Outdoor seating is limited but definitely worth the wait. The menu items were limited but all entrees that we had were excellent.
Vacation, recommended by our hotel.
The staff is always incredibly friendly and accommodating. We love the Gage!
This was our first foray into city events in our post-vaccine, post-COVID lockdown times. We'd been to the Art Institute for the Monet exhibit (and all the good ness of the AI), and it was my husband's birthday. The Gage was nearby, seemed "fancy" enough 4 a bday, and we'd heard great things. It was ALL THAT! The olive subway tile, the deco/modern styling, the service, the Roasted Herb Chicken with parisian gnocchi, asparagus, & english peas, (do it!), the champagne cocktail ... all so wonderful! We'll go back for certain!
Enjoyed the food and ambiance. Service was great. Wonderful lunch.
The Gage continues to have excellent food and service. It is a bit loud for older ears but quieter in the back room to the left.
Thank heaven for The Gage. Most restaurants in the center Loop area are still closed. The Gage is a great option. The ambiance is upscale with tablecloths and cloth napkins. The people watching is entertaining. The menu is limited with many of my favorites not back on the menu yet. We both had the crab cakes. They were very good. My friend thought they were too salty. I thought they were heavy on the mayonnaise (?) Since I'm a dairy-free pescatarian, my choices were very limited.
Thank you for being there!
The restaurant was very busy--it was an early Sunday afternoon--and my fish and chips were not as crispy as usual at The Gage.
Come here if you need to eat fast and get to the symphony or Art Institute, or if you're a tourist and you're looking to sit for a brief time. Nothing wrong with the food, it's just Meh. Corned beef hash was delivered almost as fast as I gave the order. Overpriced for what it was. That was my impression when The Gage first opened several years ago, I did not return until this weekend for that reason, and they reinforced that opinion this weekend. Not a place to linger and have a conversation with friends; The Gage demands table turnover!
Wonderful gluten free options
A great place for a date or to bring out of town guests. Very good service, nice ambience. Great cocktails!
One of the the diners in my group, a vegetarian, gave the vegetable curry 5 stars.
It was a pleasure to be back at The Gage! Attention to detail was everywhere! The food, the wait staff, the cocktails. Thank you for making our evening so special! Can't wait to come back!!
Fish & chips were ok. Not great. Desert was fabulous. Blueberry crumble over ice cream. Great
My party and I had an(other) good experience: food, service, ambience all excellent.
The food was great and the customer service was even better. A rare find.
Nice ambience - Service missed one of the dishes we ordered - Food is good!
Our server Jamal was horrible. This was our first time here recommended by a friend and he was not welcoming or showed any interest in serving us. Made the whole experience in itself not a good one
Great dining experience.
