   The server was excellent. I'm a slow eater and I asked him to pace the courses because of that. He was perfect in timing of the service. AND, the main course was served HOT, which I very much appreciated. The braised lamb shank was excellent. I highly recommend it before they change the seasonal menu. Definitely will visit again when I am down in Chicago!

   Very well run place. We had a quiet table in a small room near the back. Eclectic menu with interesting choices departing from usual steak or fancy sandwich choices. Friendly efficient professional service.

   Best service and food we’ve had in a longtime. Our server monitored the time for us since we had symphony tickets. She was so helpful and courteous. Would definitely dine here again.

    The Gage is a super Chicago watering hole that serves great food too! Servers were top notch and they were always checking on you at just the right time, perceptive and timely at every step of your repast. Can’t beat that for excellent service!

    The good is delicious, the service really good, love the ambiance, and the peanut butter s’mores cake is a must try! I had asked for a quiet booth for a guest with hearing aids on my Open table reservation and they found a great location for our dinner-it can get quite noisy-thank you! Always a favorite, we’ll be back!

    We always love the Gage! Our server that night was very slow in coming to the table and throughout the entire meal, but the floor manager helped with drinks. The service is usually really attentive, so I think this was just an off night. The hamachi crude is a must! We had the duck leg shepherd's pie and the fish and chips and they were both excellent as usual. The Gage is perfect for pre-symphony and Harris Theatre events as it's within walking distance to both.

    The Gage is the perfect spot for pre-concert dining. Though the restaurant was busy, the service was attentive and the timing great. We both ordered the fish 'n chips. I was able to substitute a house salad for the fries. We were done with time to spare in getting to our concert.

    Great place for a business lunch. Food portions were great, the service on point, and the validated parking is a nice touch, especially given the area. For those that are from out of town that you are working with, you're able to give them lunch with a local feel, but still in an area that would excite your guests at the moment.

    Even if i made a reservation, i was first seated right in a very crowded area with all utensils and staffs. Me and my friend asked for the separate checks but the server told us to come up with the amount including taxes. I have never seen this kind of attitude

    We had an unexpected out of town family member come to Chicago and joined us for dinner the manager the waitstaff everyone involved couldn’t have been more gracious in trying to make us comfortable and we had a wonderful dinner thank you to the Gage you have loyal customers

    Our dinner was superb. We had the Hamachi Crudo starter, Bibb Lettuce and Caesar salads, and the Tagliatelle entrée. The service was also superb. We will definitely be coming back here often.

    Loved sitting in the smaller room at the back - great ambience. Food was terrific, we had Duck Shephard's Pie, Corned Beef Hash with poached eggs, and the vegan Curry - all three got rave reviews from each of us. Server was very attentive. Great experience.

    Food seems to have gone downhill from previous experiences. The fish in the fish and chips was over cooked as it was very mushy and the poutine had soggy fries and no gravy. Disappointed with the prices they charge.

    Elegant design, great food, very nice option for dining downtown. As Chicagoans we tend to prefer the character of neighborhood restaurants over downtown spots, but The Gage is a charming modern bistro, and it's owned by a friendly and well loved local restauranteur.

    The Gage did not disappoint for a celebration on St. Patrick's Day. There was live music, a roaming bagpiper, decorations and staff who made the meal terrific. Would go back in a heartbeat.

    Incredible! It’s always fresh, flavorful and the presentation is so well executed. We went on St. Patrick’s day and Billy the owner as usual was so kind, thanking everyone. He’s an amazing Man. The smoked haddock cake was unbelievable we had 3! The corn beef sandwich never disappoints- piled high, lean and delicious! The soup homemade with chunks of chicken was so warm and they don’t add salt! It was another great time.
