Nice atmosphere and great cocktail selection. Went early evening on a Sunday and it was perfect for a conversational dinner.
The gage was great! We went with a group on a work trip and the service was great, fun atmosphere and awesome food! The menu had something for everyone. Would recommend!
We have eaten lunch here in the past and enjoyed the food, and although the quality of our meals this time was fine, the menu was very slim. The fish and chips are always good, but we didn’t feel we had enough options from which to choose. We had invited two couples to join us, and we were disappointed that the menu was so limited.
Dinner at The Gage was awesome. The food was incredible and service was top notch. I had indicated when I made the reservation we were celebrating my daughters birthday. After dinner the waiter presented my daughter with a dessert we could all share and a birthday candle. 5 Stars all the way!
Very accommodating after a few screw up with a very simple order. High quality food and service!
Always great food and service. A favorite place for business lunches.
I had the sea bass special was very tasty but at a high price of $38.00 with a couple Brussels sprouts instead of potatoes . The waiter allowed us to take our time and visit and catch up with friends. Nice spot if you are not on a budget.
We went for an early dinner and only ate on the very light side. The food was good, service was excellent. We like the ambience, but both agreed it was on the loud side, difficult to carry on a quiet conversation. The server was very good and knowledgeable.
Love The Gage, food is great and varied. Something for everyone, you can share, go fancy or have a burger. Vibe is energetic and fun, service is terrific.
Great Experience and the Best Guinness pour in Town
Great place to hang out with friends. The fish and chips are delicious! The servers were on point and attentive. Great before and after the game!
The Gage is always a delightful experience. Food is good and service is outstanding.
Superb food superior service. I dined alone and was not made to feel the lesser for it. I ordered both specials, and they were indeed special. Terrific tortilla soup—a thick, flavorful postage-style soup— and a luscious seabass with perfectly cooked farrow and a velvety cauliflower butter. The waiter was friendly & gave good advice on beer, and most important, he gave me the perfect amount of time & space. The Gage hits the spot once again!
Great service with excellent recommendations - would come back again.
The service was a bit slow but the good food and drinks made up for it!
Our server was phenomenal, never had an empty drink and my date was brought an entire pot of tea which was outstanding. The decor is a mix of rustic and modern with a few different rooms for different occasions which I really enjoyed. There was a noisier bar type room as well as a nice private dining area which was good for a conversation. Overall I really enjoyed the food and the service!
Went for lunch with a group of colleagues while in town for a conference. Everything was absolutely delicious. We started with the mussels, for which the restaurant is famous, and they did not disappoint. Everyone at the table got something different for their main course and everyone came away happy. I had the blackened bass sandwich, which I loved. The server was attentive, but not overly so. I recommended it to all of my friends at the conference.
Service was attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant is loud and tables are very close together (narrow aisles, too), but the food is VERY good. The fries were hot and crispy, the fried pickles were a treat (not greasy), and water was refilled regularly (a huge plus in my eval of any restaurant). I would return.
The food was really not great. It was a disappointment as I have eaten there many times for lunch during the week. My husband had the chicken orzo soup which was filled with chunks of chicken but no orzo at all and completely flavorless. My sons had a pear and endive salad with chicken. The dressing had way to much red wine vinegar, the chicken was all fat very little meat, and there were perhaps three thin slices of pear.
Food was bland.
Great place. Love everything about it.
The heat appeared to be broken for our visit and was blowing frigid air on our booth and the one next to us. We mentioned it to the staff at least 4 times. Each time someone said they were turning it up or having it fixed but nothing changed. We ate with our winter coats on at the table. Disappointing way to spend a special occasion. The food was delicious nonetheless! Service left something to be desired for an expensive dining experience like this.
This is our second year spending New Years at The Gage! We love the atmosphere, food, drinks, and location!
Very nice atmosphere and excellent service, unfortunately the salads were lacking flavor and interest, and the menu was quite limited.
Delicious. Attentive. Very nice staff. Good choices on menu. Drinks were original. I would definitely come back. It was me and my hubs first time there.
Our NYE dinner at The Gage was outstanding. The service was great, the food was perfect, and the drinks were lovely. I can't wait to be back.
Fish and Chips, the Scallops, the Pork Shank, the Burger, the Wedge Salad were all winners at our table.
We went to the Gage for NYE - overall, we had a good meal and it was a good experience. The filet and chicken were both great and we shared the mashed potatoes (these were great). We also had some ice cream, which was also really good.
A couple of things that caused us to give a 4 star rating instead of a 5: they were out of quite a few things, including beers, appetizers and desserts, which were some of our initial choices That’s one night you would think you’d be stocked up. Secondly, you sit (at least we did, in the area we were sat) really close to other folks also having dinner. Just an observation - could be good or bad depending on perspective.
What a wonderful meal to ring in the New Year! Loved the Bison tartare and the beet salad ! We shred these and each had an entree. Lots of food but delicious. We had a show to get to so they were prompt in getting us served and put in time . I would highly recommend it, even tho a bit pricey!
The Turkey club was exceptional (other diner with me) and he is not easily impressed. Chef was accomodating to diet restrictions for one of our party which was most appreciated. Loved the atmosphere, reminded me of a bistro you might see in Paris. Lots of booths (love) with the back of the restaurant being quieter than the front near the bar. I had the half chicken which I enjoyed but didnt feel it was outstanding. The dessert I ordered, however, was outstanding....butterscotch pot de creme! I would definitely come back here again.
It was simply too loud to enjoy a meal. Shouting to hear others was required because of the ambient noise. The menu was limited but well rounded. The prices, however, well exceeded the value. I will likely not be voluntarily returning.
We came In over Christmas break, Wes was our waiter and he was fabulous. The table has a variety of food including a cheese tray, it was well prepared. The pork shake was large and moist.
A regular stop on Michigan Avenue. This a great restaurant, interesting menu and very good wait staff. I don't think I've had a poor experience here in a half dozen or eight years of coming. It gets busy so make a reservation.
Food was great. Tables were a little closer than I would like but it was a great brunch experience.
As always, the food here was exceptional and the seasonal cocktails were intriguing. The appetizers were large enough to share and the main courses were meticulously prepared. I recommend the rock crab and radish toast and the curry. I had mine with scallops, and it was wonderful. The menu is smaller than some places, but it allows the chefs to focus on quality in ingredients and preparation.
One of our favorite burgers in Chicago. Over the years food and service consistently above the rest of the crowd.
Great food and service! The size of each dish is large and every dish tastes so great!
The Gage always pleases. Creative cocktails and don’t pass up the Venison Burger. OMG it’s a party in your mouth.
