Attentive service and extremely fast food delivery. Server was perfect!
The lighting was very low and the noise level was a bit high and the food lacked a bit of flavor, but those are the only negatives. The food was very well cooked (tender pheasant; flaky, moist fish; tender vegetables), and the service was impeccable! Even with the food not being five stars, the experience as a whole was five stars given the service.
This was my 4th time dining at The Gage & it was incredible. My friend and I had an early reservation (5:00 pm) because we had tickets to Hamilton so, we both only ordered a salad, the spring asparagus salad w/chicken and it was amazing.
Had a great business lunch...good food, good service.
Been here several times and it is always terrific!
Love coming here every time I visit Chicago. There’s nothing not to like about this place. The food is amazing and diverse, service is excellent, and ambience is energetic. A “must visit” restaurant.
We were all pretty disappointed in the Gage. The food was average and the prices were higher than you would expect for average food.
The waiter appeared disinterested in serving us. When we requested additional sauce for an entre, the bus boy had removed out dishes before he brought the sauce. I know service can be slow when restaurants are very busy, but that did not appear to be the case.
So skip the Gage. There are so many good restaurants in Chicago
My sister and I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was especially good, and the server was very helpful. The two dishes we had were a coconut curry with scallops dish, and a steak tenderloin. Very tasty!
Food and service was perfect will be back
Ensemble tout à fait correct. Peut être un peu trop gras et salé.
First time to the Gage . Will be back, but likely with a much smaller group. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed by our large party of 8. Not entirely his fault, it seemed like a miss management of how many tables he had in general. Overall, we had a great time, the food was really good.
Their cheese cake with strawberries was our favorite dessert ever!
Good food nice booth good prices
inserting more characters to make the space (get rid of this requirement please)
The Gage had incredible service and delicious food. It's a splurge, but well worth it for a special occasion. I entered that it was a birthday dinner when I made the reservation on Open Table, and without having to say anything to the server, they surprised us with a simple, little dessert treat at the end of the night. Great place, all around!
The manager was amazing catering to a shellfish allergy. He went out of his way to make sure we were safe and had wonderful food. Will definitely be back!
We were going to see Hamilton and chose The Gage because it was close and have always had great experiences in the past when we dined there.
Good ambiance, extremely popular, bistro style, nice in that sense. Friendly service. We had a Caesar Salad, taste is a bit blend. My husband had vegi Thai Curry, I had the same with prawns which were tasty, but I don’t like the taste of the curry, too creamy, too heavy, the vegetables are undefinable, not that it is bad, but they should make it more authentically Thai, a bit more lemon grass, more coconut taste instead of this heavy creamy source.
The food and service was great. Would go there again. Scotch eggs are a must try. If you have been to the dead rabbit in NYC not quite the same but they stand up on their own merit. Good job chef!!
A great way to celebrate my team’s success after a long conference! The food was so fresh and some unique blends !!
The mgr KEVIN was extraordinary in helping guide our dining experience—-I’ll be back !!!!
Don’t forget the sister property, The Dawson! Crazy delicious as well!!!!
I almost always get the burger (both are delish!) but this time I got the Thai coconut curry with chicken. WOW! So good I'm still thinking about it!!
Come to Chicago from Indianapolis for a lunch/theater day several times a year and we are always looking for new, good spots within walking distance of theaters. The Gage was perfect. Excellent food, attentive service without hovering, interesting menu, nice wine selection. Only criticism - a little noisy. Will definitely return.
The Gage offers a unique menu with a wide range of options - one visit is definitely not enough to experience all that this wonderful place has to offer. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff make it easier to navigate the many tempting options available. Menus change by season and the desserts are exquisite. A true find in a great location across from Milenium Park.
Much larger restaurant than you would think from the outside. Its a little loud inside. Food was terrific and so was the server. Great food and a nice atmosphere. I look forward to going again.
Fantastic. My mouth is still watering. Highly recommend brunch and the corned beef with poached egg and hollandaise!!!
We love the Gage. Today we did brunch for my sister’s birthday, just the girls. Delicious! Everyone had something different but the most special part was the off menu fruit plate. The pastry chef prepared for us. It was beautiful. We hated to spoil by digging in. The wait staff so kind and patient while we talked. Thank you for a special meal.
A group of 6 work friends went for early seating dinner before going to see Hamilton. 4 of the 6 got the fish and chips and gave it a 'good but not outstanding' evaluation. I had the duck and thought it WAS outstanding. Service was great and we were amazed by how quickly the main course was served.
Amazing meal with spot on service! Would definitely recommend as well as come back.
Amazing service offered by Johnny. The menu was impressive, but the winner of the evening was the duck poutine ... heaven!
Fantastic food. Great service. Restaurant is VERY loud, though. Hard to have conversations.
Great experience... get the PBR pickles - enough for 4 people to share!
I had the venison burger, it had great flavor.
Colleague order the elk and said it was done perfect... he said the Brussels sprouts were just as good.
Great place... I highly recommend!
Food and service was wonderful. The birthday champagne was a great touch.
Over priced
Outstanding seafood, especially the bluefin tuna and unique wine, the Franciscan equilibrium was amazing
The mussels vindaloo were amazing and the blue fin tuna to die for
The cheese board was truly amazing. I had the Thai coconut curry with scallops & they were the largest scallops I've ever seen. It was delicious. Sad they don't sell Sangria but they made me a spritzer that was acceptable. I will definitely be going back!
We just don’t go here enough, but, we’re always glad when we do. The food is always mouthwateringly flavorful, with service and atmosphere match, making it the perfect evening. Would have lingered, as we were having such a great time. You sense the staff is committed to making sure you have the best time, which, we always do. Then, it was off to meet the astronauts -- about the only thing that could have convinced us it was time to go.
The venison burger was delicious and the service was good as always. A great place to go pre theatre or to catch up with friends over dinner.
The Gage remains one of Chicago’s best restaurants for consistently excellent food and service. The management team here knows what they are doing!
We went to The Gage to check out their food and celebrate Sommelier Jon McDaniel being named one of the somms of the year according to Food & Wine Magazine. They also sat us within viewing distance of the TV in the Bar area so we could keep an eye on the NCAA Championship game.
Our server was very personable, and knew the menu and wines well. The food was excellent, and we had a great time. Congrats to Jon and the Gage Hospitality Group!
nicely done lunch, limited yet well executed menu, will go back when in the area.
