Delicious and different salad. Nice to have vegetables and potatoes included with the entree. Service was quick with drinks and appropriate with salad and entree. Too many restaurants bring your meal too fast. This was perfect.

We had reservations before a show. We had guests in town. After a 15 min wait (post reservation time) we were told the staff didn’t want to bother the folks at our table and offered we could sit outside. We didn’t have a choice bc we needed to get to the show. It was freezing out. They offered us a free round of drinks but brought Prosecco without asking which only one person drinks. We had to find our server twice to order and get our check. We had to run to be on time for the show. I’ve been taking work lunches to the Gage for years. This really turns me off to come again.

Had a reunion with old friends at The Gage for Saturday brunch. Beautiful restaurant and very good service. Friends ordered Corned beef hash and the Cobb salad. They said both were excellent. I am a sucker for shrimp and grits but hesitated to order the dish this far north. Did it anyway. It was good but not outstanding. All in all, we enjoyed the restaurant immensely and will return the next time we are in Chicago.

Despite making a reservation weeks in advance I was not provided with the type of seating requested being told that others cam before me......BS. A very indifferent greeter. Haven't been for 2-3 years since moving from Chicago. I certainly wont go back to this unwelcoming establishment.

We've always enjoyed the Gage, usually for lunch. Their elevated pub food, like burgers and fish and chips, is excellent, and the room has a lovely Chicago arts and craft design. However, last night we went for dinner, and made the mistake of ordering drinks at the bar without consulting a menu. (We weren't given one before we ordered). We were shocked when our order of two glasses of wine and one old-fashioned came to $77 before tip. How is that possible?? For one, my request for a pinot noir cost me $25. I just checked their website and the only pinot they list by the glass costs $16. So why the upcharge? As we were hosting our nephew we didn't want to complain at the time. Dinner was great, service was fine but rather unfriendly. We would not return .

We love The Gage and have been many times since we live in the neighborhood. Unfortunately this time we didn’t have the best experience… We ordered a gin/tonic in which we were charged separately for the tonic and it ended up costing more for this basic drink than one of the more complex featured cocktails. Protein add-ins are outrageously expensive now too ($12 for one chicken thigh!). I ordered the venison burger medium rare which I’ve had here before with no problems but this one came out totally rare and was mostly inedible. Overall poor value for a pretty basic meal at $60/person.

Always a great time dining at The Gage. The food, the service, the drinks - everything is always wonderful. We started with the delicious and savory poutine as a starter. My partner & I split the classic burger and fish n chips. We were both very happy with everything! Highly recommend to anyone in the city or visitors.

We have been going to The Gage for years, and as of yesterday, Mother's Day, 2023, not one aspect of this establishment is diminished or lacking in any possible aspect. The food is nuanced and refined across the entire menu, the drinks effervescently balanced and the always-outstanding desserts a delight without ever becoming too overtly sweet or cloying. This wonderful restaurant continues to set the bar impressively high, and we have no plans to ever stop dining here, ever. Simply outstandi g.

Perfect place for Mother's Day brunch and then the Art Institute. Service was outstanding and all the food and drink was delicious. It wasn't overly crowded which was a plus for eating out in Chicago. Plenty of people, but didn't feel stuffed in. We always love coming to The Gage for big family events or just casual moments. It fits the bill every time.

When I made the reservation I specified that it was a birthday celebration. No action was taken even when birthday presents were opened at the table in front of our server/waitress. The food was as good as I remembered but I don't understand the purpose of enquiring about special occasions if there is no intention of acting on them, i e, singing or a candle on dessert or something.

We went to Gage on two occasions, one for lunch and then for a pre theatre meal later that evening. The service both times was very good and we enjoyed very much our soup at lunch and our burger and fish n chips in the evening. Tasty and value for money, there was a good atmosphere both at lunch time, where we sat outside and in the evening out the back inside.

Started off at the bar — the cocktails were outstanding and the bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making very compelling recommendations. The atmosphere was a bit more subdued once we were seated at our table. We chose the cheese plate and fried pickles for appetizers, which were both very nice. The stars of the show, though, were the entrees — particularly the halibut. The desserts were very indulgent (although that was because we chose two of the more decadent options — fried gelato and crème brûlée). Overall, it ticked all of the boxes.
