The Frontier BBQ and Smokehouse
We were underwhelmed
Excellent food, very clean and the wait staff was very friendly
I have always enjoyed the buffet here and recommend highly to all our friends!
Although we do not go out for dinner on a regular basis, it is one of our "go to" places for having dinner out with family and friends! Thank you for a wonderful dining out experience :)
Didn’t know what to expect finding out it was a buffet. I was pleasantly surprised overall! The buffet of regular food was hot and stocked well. The meat buffet part had numerous people working and the meat was fresh and hot. The ribs were a little tough but the peameal bacon was amazing.
They suggest reservations which I made but seemed to be open tables. So you could prob walk right in no issue. Right off the way from the 4 points and a short distance from other hotels in the area.
Stay away, unless you want to throw your hard earned money away.
The idea of the Frontier BBQ & Smokehouse seemed appealing, especially their loaded potato bar, however, upon arrival, the food seemed mediocre. Since it is a buffet, some of the dishes looked like they have been sitting there for a few hours. Nothing was overly unique about this place. The next day 4/8 people in our party had stomach aches..
We really enjoyed this place. If you checked out the other places to eat, this one doesn't seem so high on the price. You are in a tourist area, and you will pay tourist prices. We found the buffet did offer a ton of protein options, ribs, pork, meatloaf, sliders, you get the idea. The side dishes are traditional of BBQ. If your looking for a salad bar, this isn't the place to go. Very small and limited, but the potato bar ROCKED! I could have eaten so many different kinds of creations. I thought the price was worth it. Our service was good, we had a new guy, but he tried really hard. Just didn't have the confidence yet. We would return.
What a hidden gem! For the price, I don't see getting better variety and quality together in Niagara Falls. Therefore the value is exceptional here.
Food was cold. Salad bar had lettuce but no other vegetables. Poor tasting.
Food was good, server was great! Prices were a bit high even for Niagara Falls. Was nice that we got to try a bit of everything. If you’re a big eater you could definitely eat your money’s worth. Was good but we wouldn’t likely return
Unless you really like meat this is not the place for you. Salad selection is minimal as is the dessert. Potato bar is good with lots of topping selections. To be honest that’s what prompted me to go there. Not likely to go back.
Our server Trevor is the reason I give this place 4 stars. Food was subpar. The hostess was not friendly upon arriving, took her a long time to find our reservation even though I spoke with someone before arriving. She still made us wait for 20 minutes and upon seating the dining room was empty and no one came out.
We went in April total of 13 people and it was amazing, The food was absolutely perfect our server was awesome. This time definitely made our decision to not return the food was terrible the only thing that we all liked was the potatoes and peameal bacon. The chicken didn’t sit well with one of us and he was sick a good chunk of the night personally I love mushrooms but they had absolutely no taste at all even the pulled pork that was amazing last time tasted like it came from a package and was warmed up in the microwave.
After everyone was done and the plates taken roughly 15-30 minutes we had to go up to the bar and ask for our bills. The restaurant was only about 50% full so definitely not overly busy for a Saturday evening.
It was good, bit pricey
Great brisket and vegetables. Horribly dry chicken and ribs. Definitely not what you would expect from a smokehouse. The ribs and chicken tasted like they were cooked a week prior then reheated. The salad bar was fine nothing extraordinary. The potato bar was supposed to be a selling point for the restaurant however there were fruit flies all over the toppings. It totally turned me off the potato bar. As a result I didn't even have a baked potato. It was my sons 19th birthday and we specified that in our reservations and nothing was done for him. The whole experience left us with a really bad impression of the Frontier. As a result I won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone!
First time being there. Server was fantastic. Food was good.
Best buffet restaurant we have ever been too will go everytime we go to Niagara Falls
This place food is dry and salty too expensive plus dessert bar was garbage not much to pick from no ice cream but if you want ice cream extra 1.25 and this I's a buffet lol i hope they sink they were lucky I paid for food as soon as I sat down to eat wasnt happy at all should have walk off
We were greeted right away and seated. Our server was very nice and punctual with the removing of emptied dishes. The food was very good and the restaurant was very clean.
As a person living a Keto lifestyle, I was a bit apprehensive going in, but as one of a group of 4, I was willing take a chance I may be able to enjoy more than just the salad bar. Granted, the menu isn’t really geared to any type of healthy eating lifestyle, the choices are actually quite good. The brisket was outstanding, with a very nice fat content, and the farmers sausage was excellent as well. They also had chicken that was smoked with just salt and pepper, with lots of thigh meat available. For vegetables, there were brussel sprouts, and fried onions. Of course, there was a salad bar as well, and I HIGHLY recommend topping your salad with the brisket trimmings, and the shredded cheese from the potato bar. Overall, I was easily able to reach my calorie goal as well as fat. If you don’t mind paying for a good meal, I HIGHLY recommend.
the place was clean , food was great and the server Matthew was great and helpful and funny what some restaurants lack
The food was good but the variety of food to accompany the meat was limited.
TripAdvisor rating is great, so we thought we’d try it as we had kids in our party and we love smokehouse meat. The only thing good was the beef brisket, it was very tender, and the Mac and cheese. Everything else was awful! Not as much selection as we’d though there would be. Fried chicken was the driest chicken we’d ever tried. Only desert option was a tray of apple crisp. Could get a scoop of ice cream for $1.50 extra. For $30 a person, go elsewhere for a better meal.
We had 10 in our party. Came here on a sunday night @ 8pm. It was not too busy. The brisket was good. Also had the ribs. I normally can't eat too much but did go up for seconds. Overall great value in a tourist part of the city. It was only a quick 5 minutes walk from Hilton.
Wish there was a few more desert items included in the buffet
First time coming to Frontier and was very pleased with the tasty foods that were offered. Service was excellent and our table was roomy enough to enjoy. Hubby ate too much and had to leave a bit behind but was still able to sample most of the delicious foods. We went home full and satisfied.
This buffet had a good selection of entrees and sides. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered drinks from the and they did. It disappoint! The price was reasonable (our 5 year old ate for free). There was only one option for dessert BUT there was so much good food that there was no room left for dessert anyway. We highly recommend this buffet!
Birthday for my daughter who turned 6, 5 people in total food was nice and pretty standard nothing to write home about. Disappointed with only one choice of dessert with the buffet and was nearly finished so found myself scraping what little I could find. All in all nice experience but could be better.
We'd been there a couple of years ago and it was wonderful a great overall experience so for our holidays this past week we were really looking forward to having dinner there again, unfortunately our opinion was much different this time the food was cold the brisket was fatty and not at all enjoyable the service was lackluster almost nonexistent and the price of our bill was ridiculous for the food quality and service we recieved. I dont imagine we will ever be returning customers next time we are in Niagara falls🙁
Was chgd the tourist tax. Live in Welland. Not cool.
Not at all what was expected
Good food and great service. A bit light on dessert but you can order ice cream for a modest cost.
Food was tasty, our server was very friendly and helpful..even firstly giving directions to the bathroom and all the food stations..lots of food choices..would recommend.
Very limited amount of food choices for an buffe. The price was way to high for two people came up to $100. Food was not $100,
Quantity before quality. Not my kind of restaurant.
Atmosphere was good as it was early. Food was great not overcooked crispy but not dried out but very tender in the middle. Price was alittle high but I guess that normal for tourists prices overall above average
Pretty good. Typical buffet experience ... Some things are really good (brisket, ribs) and some are ... not so much (sausage). Plenty of food, all you can eat. Glad we went, but it's a one time visit while we're here.
Amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Wish we had one in Quebec. Yummmmm
Great waitress, great food. Ribs were tender as well as the brisket and beef ribs were tender as well. Great selection of items to make a healthy salad, if you are like me it’s important. Really nice place lace to go with the family after a long day at the Falls
The meat was really good and lots of choices. The sides were just ok, and dessert choices not as much as you would expect on a buffet. Service was excellent, and lived the live music of Thomas Nelson.
