The service was fantastic! I highly recommend the Parmesan cauliflower tots. They were amazing!
I honestly didn’t think thia restaurant would be such a nice surprise. It looks like any other bar in Chicago but the food is exceptional. Their cauliflower bites are to die for. The softshell crab is what you expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. In excellent experience overall.
Too many gnats! Disgusting! You cannot enjoy your food when there are bugs landing in it.
Classic cocktails and yummy plates are on point. I knew the house Old Fashioned was $20 each, yet I kept ordering them all night. : )
Out for an early dinner after arriving in Chicago. Our server informed us it was “happy hour” that applied to a cava and a whisky-based cocktail “Whisky Boy”. The cava was served in a coupe style glass which made for a shorter pour (by about 2 oz) than average and the Whisky Boy was delivered in its own small glass hip flask (can be kept as a souvenir- cute idea). I had the $28 short rib - it was the largest piece of short rib I have ever seen. When I cut into it and ate a piece - I think instead of short rib - it was a nice piece of pot roast. Tasted fine but a $28 piece of pot roast needs to be sublime to be a good value! Unfortunately it wasn’t. And beware of shorter pours for happy hour offerings.
We ate there for a low key dinner and were very happy with everything. Our waiter was very nice an attentive and the food was all great, even the cauliflower tots (who'd have guessed). Everything we saw at neighboring tables also looked very good and we did not see much food left on plates.
The food was exceptional. I had the mushroom risotto and my partner had the ribeye steak. We both enjoyed the wide whiskey collection and flights. We will definitely be back!
It was a very cool bar, with great energy. Not the best place for dinner but it's an awesome place if you're looking to grab a few drinks, especially the cocktails.
Friday evening was quite busy and will revisit in future. Enjoyed the food and beverage.
Ressemble à un speakeasy à l'intérieur mais l'accès y est trop facile. On a envie d'arrivée par une porte dérobée et ne n pas une entrée classique. Dans l'ensemble très bien mais le petit côté underground manque vraiment.
Excellent food and service. The bone in ribeye was incredible! I would definitely return on future trips to Chicago!
Unique cocktails, that were good. Delicious food! Stellar ambiance! Would definitely go again!
Really good food and service! The steak frites is phenomenal.
Awesome service and delicious food!!! It was my 3rd time here, and it’s consistently been amazing!! I’ll continue to keep coming back, especially for $1 oysters and 1/2 price bottle Monday’s! ❤️❤️
We love The Franklin Room. They have amazing lunch specials, fantastic cocktails, awesome service & great ambience! Anyone could easily enjoy the Franklin Room at any hour (lunch, business meeting, dinner, drinks). Go! You won’t regret it!
Great bartenders and atmosphere. Extensive bourbon/whiskey selection, with some very good prices on bottles you can't find at home.
We had a great time! Delicious food and a unique and diverse drink selection. A lively crowd and everyone was enjoying themselves. Will go back next I visit Chi-town.
Interesting menu. Great drinks. Knowledgeable, prompt service. Typical city prices. Extensive whiskey options. Everyone in our party enjoyed the meal. Gluten Free menu a bonus as a daughter has Celiac disease.
Tables very close together.
We came to The Franklin Room for lunch last Friday. $1 Wine and $3 Martini's...how do you beat that? This is a really unique, hidden gem of a restaurant. We both had salads and they were outstanding. I cannot wait to go back.
I had reserved this restaurant not knowing anything. I don't mean that in a bad way.
1) I came to find out that the restaurant was 2 blocks away from my hotel.
2) They were having oyster happy hour between 1700-1830 i think?
I haven't had a good oyster in a while, but I loved it, from the presentation to the sauce, and the oysters were so fresh.
We ended up getting 2 dozen oysters for appetizer.
My friend got the Octopus ink pasta, I got Truffle mushroom pasta, and my husband had the lamb chop.
All of the food presentation was great, and the taste was just as amazing.
A lot of meat was on the lamb dish... which is always good.
The Franklin Room seems to be having a lot of different specials going on so it should definitely be on your "To-Eat" list in Chicago.
Also, if you're a whiskey connoisseur, this place should best be on your list for visit.
The a/c was not working or not turned down to a cool enough temperature. It made for an uncomfortable dining evperience.
We will definitely return. Served me oysters on half shell at lunch even though it was not on lunch menu. Price was regular $2.50 not happy hour special of $1.00. Seafood sandwich excellent says spouse. Amazingly extensive bar!
Cocktails took a very long time to come out.
Great experience - craft cocktails, lamb and seafood were the highlights.
I enjoyed the Franklin Room, we were there after 10 pm so we got the late night menu. The food was really good but there were almost no vegetarian entree options for my husband. The ambiance was great, there was a live jazz band that was really good. Our server was wonderful and the wine was excellent.
Had a few fantastic drinks at the before being seated. The food was so good! Dan was a great server and made sure we were taken care of all night.
Definitely will be back!
Significantly pricey for what it offers. Ambiance is good. Value is not. There are far better choices for food in this price point... like Ema’s just a few blocks away.
Stayed at nearby hotel & this franklin room was excellent!!!
The Franklin Room is an outstanding place for food and atmosphere. The Wait Staff is outstanding. Love this place.
Go here. It’s great
Great dinner for a large group business dinner. Lots of variety in food and drink to please everyone. Very knowledgeable waitress.
Great service, cozy and trendy atmosphere, and delicious food. Wagyu burgers are a must try - started with the cauliflower tots, which were refreshing and satisfying.
The happy hour specials are rad! My sister and I went here before seeing a show, and we were able to get in and out in about an hour, including two drinks each (whiskey boys are scrumptious), and splitting the burrata, a salad, and soup. It was delightful!
The restaurant was so noisy I couldn't have a conversation with the person sitting directly across the table.
Great experience, waiter was prompt and very nice. Food was amazinf
This place is so cool. It really is a speak easy. The environment is very relaxed and inviting. Definitely make reservations it’s not very big. The food was very good. I had the surf and turf burger which had a fried egg, fried softshell crab and Wagyu beef. I have had some good burgers in Chicago and rank this one up there. I would put it just below the burgers at Au Cheval which is number one in my book. They have hundreds and I mean hundreds of whiskeys to choose from. They offer them in flights. I discovered Elijah Craig whiskey here which I absolutely love.
Loved the cocktails and the burrata for our appetizer. I was honestly underwhelmed with the squid ink pasta, especially for the price. And the ambiance was lovely but it was tough to hear from just across the table -- might have bene precisely where we were seated or the acoustics but was tough to hear my friend.
We have been to Tye Franklin Room many times and are never disappointed with the food and drinks. A delicious meal.
Delicious food, service so so. Will definitely go back for the burger, delicious apps and cocktails.
