The Fortnum’s Bar & Restaurant at Royal Exchange
Two iconic destinations come together as we bring Fortnum’s to the City for the first time. The Fortnum’s Bar & Restaurant will serve up a seasonal and contemporary menu from within the al fresco-style surroundings of the Royal Exchange’s spectacular central courtyard – and we are taking bookings now!
The menu – which goes from breakfast through to dinner – allows metropolitan traditions to meet modern London. A luxurious offering of caviar, shellfish, and hand-carved smoked salmon will be served in addition to light, raw, and vegan options; while Fortnum’s most renowned dishes, including Welsh Rarebit and the Knickerbocker Glory will also appear, alongside fresh produce from our famous Food Halls, such as our exclusive Glenarm beef. Food will be served alongside an extensive and expertly curated wine and Champagne list, in addition to cocktails, floats, and digestives.

The blonde lady that regularly serves us makes the whole experience enjoyable
She knows how to keep all the customers happy at the same time and works incredibly hard
The food was very good, we took fish based dishes, it was a bit noisy at the end of our lunch, but that’s expected. The place is exquisite.
Great friendly team
Fabulous the manager Florent , was fantastic and would return just to see him impeccable service 5 stars
Quality food, great service, magic, can’t wait to return
Restaurant was good but as expected with bit high end restaurants portion size for food was small
It was amazing, we were seated outside with the sun beaming and also heaters as it cooled down.
I was really impressed with the value for money, the oysters were extremely fresh and delicious and the lobster spaghetti was to die for.
Service was brilliant, nothing was too much to ask for.
I will certainly be back soon, thank you!
What lost the restaurant points for me was the fact that 3 days before the restaurant manager called me to say they were not going to honour the booking via open table and that they reserve the right not to.
We could secure a time 30 mins later but still I thought the manager had an attitude of “take it or leave it”, which really put me off.
Once we were there everything was great, but given the price tag they could have had more heaters. Only two for the entire area and if you weren’t close to one they made no difference.
Unless you are near one of this heaters or in direct sunlight it was pretty chilly.
The food, service, view, ambiance- it was all an experience! While waiting for 17th May and indoor dining to resume, highly recommend when the weather is good!
Great setting, food was good and service was great.
Really enjoy it! Better than I expected! Would definitely go for it if there is a chance in the future.
Great breakfast and have really missed this place, always really really good
Service was amazing. I didn’t want afternoon tea but was craving scones and they kindly arranged this even though it’s not on the menu. It was delicious & my husband had the Lemon tart which he enjoyed. Stunning venue - highly recommend you going!
Beautiful restaurant even though I would change the wood tables. It looks a bit cheap compared to the marble of the bar. The food was really good, and the service was outstanding. We have been well advised by Florentin and spent a charming moment lunching there.
good ambience, service and friendliness of the staff
Good food, good service. Live music in the evening that is not too intrusive. Seating can be a little draughty depending on location.
Excellent breakfast spot in the city. Good menu and very good service. Thoroughly enjoyed this start to the day.
Great place for quiet Friday dinner and drinks. Very interesting architecture, good selection of drinks and food but slightly pricey for what it is.
This is a beautiful venue, less chaotic than Piccadilly, and with the same quality of food. The teapot has a structural flaw tending to leak as you pour. I would have liked the possibility of refilling only the sandwiches I liked, rather than the whole plate. However I would certainly come back, and strongly recommend this place to my friends.
Lovely breakfast. 2 had full breakfast and 1 kedgeree and all were perfectly cooked. Service was great and they were able to accommodate our need for a slightly larger table.
Exceptinat environment and fancy dining. Food was good but not was execptional!
The Tea for One at the Royal Exchange was a fabulous treat for the lonely traveling business person.
Lovely venue in the City. Last minute booking with my husband (his first visit) for a pre-theatre dinner. Great, attentive (not in too attentive though!) service. We order a cocktail each - not from the menu - which was outstanding. Food was great. Nice, relaxed ambience.
Shame we couldn't stay for the live music - next time!
Great place for tea or cocktails. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Will definitely go back again.
Had a voucher from virgin experience for 2 x 2 course meals with a cocktail for £59 as it worked out they did a set menu for the same thing for the same price so very good value
How ever the main meal came and was cold
This was dealt with very professionally our drinks bill was knocked off the bill
This was great because the drinks were very expensive
I was very much looking forward to my first Afternoon Tea. I'm happy to say that it was more than I was expecting. My waitress was lovely and the food was delicious. It was a highlight of my first trip to London.
First English Breakfast of the year in a beautiful place!
Fantastic ambience great breakfast. Enjoyed the food and shops next to restaurant.
Overpriced and nothing special. Nice interesting location though
Amazing cocktails! Such a stunning setting and beautiful bar.
Very busy period pre Christmas. Timing at the table is strictly enforced which is understandable but a little unwelcoming.
my new favourite !! Will be my first choice for breakfast for 2020
Service is still lacking and food is ok, having said that the ambiance is great and I intend to return. Had the £30 White House wine and it was good, so no need to spend more if goi g for white wine.
I booked a table for Christmas lunch with some ex-colleagues. Some of them had specific dietary requirements and were still able to choose some good dishes. Most of us had steak and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The portions are very generous and it was great value for money considering comparative restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend the red wine. The ambience was relaxed, yet professional and the Royal Exchange is a picturesque building. The service was very good, we were not rushed to order or finish our meals and we received the right level of attentiveness. The only thing I would have changed is that the table was a bit small for a party of 5. But overall I highly recommend this restaurant and I will likely visit again.
Everything synonymous with such a traditional brand. Beautiful setting as well.
I had booked a table but still had to queue to be served which wasn't very impressive. Then table service was not very good either. The food was great and the location is excellent.
Great location - staff super friendly and food is very decent - ribeye was just right and the steamed spinach perfect. Book ahead though otherwise you won’t get a table.
Lovely setting, sound level about right, good service. The food was ok for what it was, on the whole a positive experience and I would go again
We came for Birthday brunch. The location is exquisite and we enjoyed the food. We were warmly welcomed and very well looked after by Patricia - please do let her and her manager know that she really made our outing special.
