Loved the outdoor dining on the patio at the Fort. The food, service, ambience, and overall experience made the evening very special. Wish the weather would permit doing this year round!
I love that The Fort added an outdoor menu with more reasonable prices for my budget! We met up with a couple friends and enjoyed the amazing views and atmosphere. The atmosphere is probably our favorite part of this place! The menu has fun drink and food options with a historical twist. We have a lovely time and the staff are friendly.
The food was fantastic and the service courteous and friendly. It was a terrific experience. We have eaten at The Fort many times over the years and felt very comfortable eating outside on their patio this visit. Very nice option during the COVID-19 times we’re living in today. Nice job!
We loved the ambiance of the back patio. It was relaxed and a great value. We hope you continue to offer this option when weather appropriate.
Thanks for a great time.
We decided to try out the patio service and food for our anniversary. The area was quiet. Views were incredible. Service was great. Drinks a bit pricey but was expected. Our food was just really simple as we didn't want steaks or extravagant. Pulled pork sandwich was really good with 3 sauces provided. My wife had a brat which was served with a sauce as well. I highly recommend the bar b que picknik but weather will soonput a halt to this fun time.
Our family of 6 enjoyed our evening on the patio at the Fort very much! The ambiance is excellent and the food was good! Our Server was awesome, so helpful and kind. Was a great evening out!!
Wonderful view, great service, delicious food and drink. What more could you ask for?
Very nice patio dining to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
They handled the virus issue very well. We were on the patio ant they used picnic settings which worked out fine. The server was very pleasant and highly attentive and helpful.
Although I haven't been there for a few years, I have always had great food/service at The Fort - until last Saturday, 9.19.20. We ate at the patio BBQ area. The scenery was gorgeous. My partner has mobility challenges (use of 1 arm/hand only, struggles to speak, cane) which are visually evident. He hadn't been there before.
I ordered a side salad and quinoa burger - without a bun since I am gluten free (GF) and The Fort doesn't carry GF bread. Wait staff brought me the burger and some mustard/ketchup without lettuce/tomato/onion topping - which the burger normally comes with. I was clearly annoyed and asked where the lettuce, tomato, etc were? Staff stated that perhaps the kitchen figured I didn't want them - since I ordered without a bun. I suggested that perhaps they should've asked me? Staff (then) did promptly get me lettuce/tomato/onion for the burger.
My partner ordered ribs, which he says, were excellent. However, wait staff brought him 1 napkin and 1 towelette with the ribs. For a human without the mobility challenges my partner faces, the norm would be to bring at least 3 of each for a plate of ribs. I asked for several more of each - staff brought us 2 wet towelettes and no additional napkins.
I gave my partner my napkin. Also, there were no additional plates, etc for my partner to place the rib bones - so I gave him my extra bowl (which was under my salad and placed my salad in the other bowl with my quinoa burger).
For even the non-mobility challenged human, the "extras" that should normally be there for a plate of ribs - weren't present. I don't know if they're trying to "save" on those little extras but it made our experience less than fun. The fact that our wait staff couldn't "look" at our situation and automatically bring us what we needed (napkins, towelettes, plates/bowls for the used bones) - tells me that at the very least - wait staff at The Fort can use sensitivity training!!! Very annoying! Not sure we'll be back!
Not impressed with the BBQ patio dinner. We didn’t enjoy the food. My 3 yr old disliked her Mac n cheese, husband never leaves his plate unfinished, water served in paper cups, not what we expected with such high priced bbq dinner. The views were not disappointing at least
We did the outdoor BBQ and had a table with a nice view, but it was chilly outside. I pictured tables on the patio by fire pits or heat lamps by the tables farther away. Otherwise, it was very nice.
Outdoor seating at The Fort allows a safe experience and all the lovely ambiance of its foothills setting! The somewhat limited menu still provides plenty of good quality choices at affordable prices. Great option to try out this historic place.
We ate outside for the barbecue menu. This was our second time doing this and the experience was not as good as the first time. The food came out warm not hot, took a very long time to appear and I felt like we were a distraction to the server. I would not return outside again but would try dining inside.
Great as always! Dining on the patio, overlooking the city— a perfect way to end the weekend!
Service, food and ambience not what it usually is at The Fort. We tried the “picnic” style which we thought would be a fun, energetic different take on their dining. We thought we’d be on their patio (where only two tables were occupied), but were sent to the back corner of the place on rocks and near port-o-potties which had an odor. Service was terrible, all items ordered wrong. The assistant manager saved the day by his service and several apologies. The Fort needs to ramp up their “picnic” style with the same service and ambience (on the actual patio) that is offered inside. We typically love The Fort, not this go round. ☹️
Great service and the food was excellent as always
Service and food was amazing! Our server went above and beyond. I know the outside area is new (because of Covid), but I highly recommend keeping it. Love the casualness, but maybe spruce up the tent and tables?
I was expecting a lot from this place based off of what others have said. We sat out on the patio but not really on the actual patio. They had us at a table off on the wide of the building under a tent near some porter potties and on gravel. The food was ok and wasn’t hot. Apparently it’s mostly premade. The views are great but other than that it wasn’t worth the drive or the money. They must have been short staffed bc many tables were complaining about the service and our waiter disappeared for some time. We think she was overwhelmed and was crying so we made sure to leave her an extra tip.
Wonderful place to catch up with friends and have a great meal!
Beautiful afternoon of casual dining with excellent views.
We attended the restaurant’s bbq on the back patio. Food was delicious, views were beautiful and the value was great.
It was wonderful to be in that setting. However the food was mediocre except the Buffalo ribs which were delicious. I also think it would have been more appetizing if the food was served on China with real flatwear instead of plastic.
Very positive experience. The hostess that greeted us was warm and friendly. Our server was helpful, courteous and attentive. We felt very comfortable in the environment we were seated in and the staff took great care in how the food and beverages were handled. Many terrific choices of food on menu. The food we ordered was delicious, particularly the peanut butter stuffed pickled jalapeño peppers. The ambiance on the patio was also very relaxing. We will return very soon. Great job by everyone.
We had an amazing experience. The views were gorgeous and the porch was shaded and full of flowers. Our waiter was so friendly and made us feel special. I can’t wait to go back!
Extremely beautiful area and super friendly staff.
Food and service were far below the level we have received on other visits. We will not choose the 'casual patio' option again.
Service was spotty at best. Styrofoam doggie box was how side salad was served. The Bison ribs were very disappointing . Very small compared to other restaurants in Denver area .
Otherwise food was good but the presentation and serving plates was not consistent with prices. Patio chairs very uncomfortable with no cushions especially with long waits for server.
Ordered the quinoa burger and used the option of no bun with BBQ sauce and cheese. The burger was served as ordered with no bun but also no cheese, no BBQ sauce and no lettuce, tomato or onion, just a very dry patty. The waitress was quick to make it right. The side of fries was disappointing they were only small 1" pieces. The stuffed jalapenos were very tasty and ambiance outdoors was very relaxing.
The patio setting was beautiful with terrific views and very well done socially distanced seating. The buffalo burger and ribs were fine. The cheesecake was excellent!
Amazing service with amazing views! Felt safe and was able to relax and enjoy time with family while overlooking Denver and the mountains. The menu for The Smokehouse and BBQ is very different than the typical Fort menu and the food is not quite the same level quality, but all of that could be overlooked because the service was absolutely spectacular and every precaution was taken to make sure ever guest and staff member were safe throughout our entire visit. Highly recommend for a way to get out while still being safe and being able to social distance.
Food wasn't really good. Little meat on the bison bbq sandwiches. My son's chicken strips were microwaved from frozen. View of the port-o-lets next to the red rocks.
VERY PRICEY!! Small portions. Flavors were...OK.
Great experience, good price, friendly service
Service was great. View great. Patio is nice area to have dinner. However the food was not good. Ribs looked and tasted like leftovers warmed up...tough and chewy. Nothing fell off the bone and the plastic knife could not put a dent in them. Hamburger was endemic...a patty with cheese, nothing else to dress it up. The fries not good. For the price charged for each item as well as the drink prices one would expect more quality. Very disappointed especially after telling our grandson who was visiting us what a wonderful place the Fort is. Very disappointed!
We had out of town company. The dinner outside was COVID safe with a beautiful view. Food Excellent and out server was outstanding.
Had BBQ on the patio. They forgot to put cheese on my burger. Sent it back to the kitchen and they put cold shredded cheese on it which did not melt. Drinks are overpriced. Nice view on Patio.
Huge pat on the back to Chris, as he arranged to provide us with the July promotion even though we were into August. Maybe not my mistake, but the point is that Chris handled my request quickly and without hassle.
Good for a drink and food on the Patio. View was great - historical representations were fun as well.
I love the picnic theme but think at that price point they could lose the plasticware and paper cups.
