Everything too spicy meat was tough was too tough to chew . Upon telling the waiter it was too spicy no alternative was offered
Food was amazing, great place for date night! Drinks were great! Highly recommend the prickly pear margarita
This Colorado staple is a must visit. The food is incredible set in a historic landmark. Everyone should dine here at least once.
Food was excellent, service was fantastic, friendly. The only thing I would change is the gal that was taking our dishes and silverware was reaching right in front of faces and taking our solar when we were not done using it. My husband even asked her to please leave it and she took it anyway without a response. She was nice but I'm not sure was the urgency was about. It was loud but not uncomfortably so. It was a very warm, comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely visit again, well worth it.
Breads were not warm when arriving at table. Main entrees (duck and mountains meet sea) were delicious and cooked to perfection. Dessert (apple cobbler) was not warm and was mostly granola with hardly any apples... disappointing. We would go again, but will get dessert elsewhere.
Valentines dinner. It was a great experience. We are definitely planning on going back.
Fabulous food, beautiful setting. Not cheap but you get what you pay for! We love the Fort and it makes any special occasion that much more special.
our waiter Kevin was the sweetest! We really enjoyed our experience because of him. We did not love the Trade Whiskey drink (too spicy!), but did enjoy all of the food. I LOVED the buffalo filet mignon and we also enjoyed the cheesecake. Definitely recommend asking for a table with a view. :)
Great service for a birthday celebration. Menu is very different and good for out of towners.
It was good food and fancy, the waiters were kind and helpful, and it was a good setting. But the service was super slow. At one point I saw waiters just standing around. It was also really loud. The water tasted really weird, almost to a point where it was undrinkable. Finally, my dessert had rum in it but it was way too much. I felt like I was pretty much taking a shot in every bite. It was cool that it was complimentary for my birthday. Also, I was scolded about "missing my reservation" over email when there was just a mix up of names. There were two reservations with the same last name, same amount of people and at the same time. Put two and two together.
Everything was great! The staff went above and beyond for our anniversary!
This was our first visit to The Fort but not our last.
Our second time in a few weeks. Celebrated my parents 65th then my 28th wedding anniversaries. The Fort was the capstone to our first date. So we try to get back at least once a year. We requested and were able to be seated in the Tower Room, a cozy room with a fireplace. With only 4 or 5 tables, the noise level is very manageable. We both had buffalo filets, my husband had the herbed butter option and I, the William Bent's buffalo filet. So very tender. Thank you for another wonderful celebration.
Excellent meal and service. Always a great location and staff. We will be back again soon. Thank you for a wonderful Valentine’s Day meal. It was fantastic.
The bison ribs have decreased in size and lack a considerable amount of meat. The first few times we visited the fort (5 years ago) the ribs were hanging off the plate and there was minimal bone showing. We brought all out of town guests to experience the "dinosaur ribs". The last 2 years have been rather disappointing. We've given them a few(4) more chances in that time, unfortunately it seems like things arent going back to the old days. The ribs are half bone (fully exposed) with a minimal amount of overcooked meat. I let 2 people in my party try them and they similarized it to eating beef jerky. My fault for continuing to order them in hopes for a different experience.
My wife and I went to The Fort for our wedding anniversary dinner. The Fort provides a unique experience and ambience due to the "frontier / fort" perspective of menu and décor. For a special occasion, or for entertaining out of towners The Fort is a good destination. Due to our experience though, I don't recommend going just for the food. Our appetizer was dissapointing. We started with queso which was soupy (and not thick soup) - no way to really dip - more like coating the chips with a thin layer of liquid. We both chose a beef entrée - both entrees were so-so. Neither of us finished our entrees (to be fair portions were generous). I did order a side of mushrooms that were delicious. Desert was also so-so. My wife had crème brulee which was served cold; I had fruit cobbler - the fruit was overcooked and the topping seemed very like Quaker granola spread over the fruit. Neither of us finished desert.
Service was good. We were seated promptly and the servers were friendly and prompt. The high point of the evening was chatting with the gentleman dressed as a mountain man. He visits tables and was willing to chat with us about his flintlock and the beaver pelt he had draped over his arm. Again I do recommend The Fort as a unique place to dine with food options that are hard to find elsewhere. Just don't get your hopes up that the food (again based on our one time experience) will be superb. Although you might have better luck with your food selections.
Excellent, historic Colorado restaurant. Service was impeccable & food was delish & served in a timely manner. Would highly recommend to experience the ultimate Colorado dining experience.
Because we were celebrating our anniversary, we enjoyed a bottle of champagne. Lovely. The appetizers and meal were delicious. The buffalo prime rib melted in your mouth. A very enjoyable experience.
It was our first time there and the server was very nice and it was clean. I was disappointed that we paid $64.00 for a steak and 1/2 of it was large clumps of fat. We got there early so that we could sit in the section where there was a view instead we were seated in the back of the restaurant with no view. There were plenty of open tables that had a nice view.
Very enjoyable. The entire staff was fabulous, great service. The food was wonderful.
I was so bummed after eating at The Fort. I have lived in Colorado most of my life and have heard many times this is a place you must try at least once. My husband and I finally decided to try The Fort for an early Valentine's Day celebration. When we arrived the hosts had to finish up their conversation before greeting us. This was a bit of a turn off but not a big deal. Our waiter was very good but that was the highlight. We started with a bottle of wine and the spicy chorizo bean dip appetizer. There was hardly any chorizo and the bean dip overall was very dry. The chips tasted like they were store bought out of the bag. The salads were ok. The wheat bread had no flavor and the pumpkin muffins were under baked and not edible. My husband order the prime rib special and he thought it was ok (3 out of 5). I ordered the Mountain to Sea. The shrimp had good flavor but was so overcooked and chewy. The buffalo tenderloin was ok but not much flavor. The potatoes were pretty good, but the veggies were overcooked. We ordered the chocolate bourbon cake for dessert (not sure why and we should've stopped while we were ahead), it was so dry and not very good at all. We ended up just throwing it away after a couple bites. After paying almost $200 we left the restaurant without even being acknowledged by the hosts. We definitely will not be going back.
Super interesting building and ambiance! Staff were all welcoming, cheerful and focused on making it a great experience for customers. This was my first time at the Fort for a 1:1 business dinner. My colleague and I enjoyed it and look forward to coming back for a company team dinner. Space is perfect for personal or business. Menu and food were amazing. The aged ribeye I had was the best ever! Perfect dining experience!
Wonderful experience in every aspect.
Chris was the Ultimate
Marybeth absolutely wonderful
Young lady who seated us, genuine
Loved everything about The Fort
Thank You, Ken and Chistina Kontz
We had our rehearsal dinner at The Fort 22 years ago, so this is a very sentimental place for us. Still has wonderful ambiance and elk medallions!
The service and attention to detail was outstanding! The bison prime rib was perfect and the lamb and elk were excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a special experience for dinner.
My wife and I had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at the Fort. The guacamole appetizer is the best in town and our entrees were prepared perfectly. You know the Fort is doing something right! They’ve been open since 1963!!
The buffalo filet was excellent. Had a mountain man and an Indian playing the flute who added a lot of interest to the evening b
Sadly, while the Ambiance will likely never change, the food quality seems to be in a free fall. Wake up Fort, get your food quality back on par with the Ambiance!
Returning after an extended time away was definitely a highlight experience for our foursome. The Fort is always a such a unique setting that even arriving and smelling the courtyard fire burning promoted lots of nostalgia. We were immediately seated and greeted warmly by waitstaff. Some coupon confusion distracted from an advertised margarita specialty, but was quickly resolved, and the drinks were fine. Their Wine Stewart came up with a wonderful red that pleased three of us sharing it greatly. The jalapeño and peanut butter appetizer was still as good as our memories promised. The Stockshow Special Prime Rib ordered by two of our guests was frankly a bit over cooked for medium tastes, but also disappointing was a Stuffed Green Pepper entree. The menu winner was the Pork Chop which had everyone regretting their own selection. We finished the meal with butterscotch sundaes that were wonderful. Our servers were readily available and made sure we were not rushed nor needing for anything. It was a wonderful evening, but looking out on the scenic patio and remembering special summertime visits just primed us for a return when the snow goes away.
This is going to sound silly, but - the side vegetables! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. And the entrees are worth the price.
The server was very attentive yet unobtrusive; kudos to her for excellent service. The food was somewhat less than expected. The buffalo prime rib was good and cooked exactly as specified. However, the veggies with the entrees were not fully cooked; for rooted vegetables they should have been roasted somewhat longer so they weren't crisp. And, the vegetables arrived luke-warm at best. The buffalo ribs were much drier than I expected; they were really well done and not very tender. Of course, the atmosphere was as good as the view, but it just couldn't compensate for the mediocre food.
Always enjoy the Fort. Good food and service. Nice atmosphere. Love to sit near the fireplace.
We have dined at the Fort maybe once or twice a year (special occasions) for many years now and have never been disappointed. Outstanding overall experience and great food!
Wonderful food in a beautiful setting.
We've been going to the Fort for years and as always the experience was excellent!
My husband and I were married at The Fort 31 years ago and always go back there for special occasions and celebrations. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The folks at The Fort are very inclusive and make sure you feel special, not just another diner. We especially enjoyed talking to the gentleman who played the native American flute.
64th wedding anniversary. They treated us very well
The Fort is our go to place for business meetings. The menu is great and eclectic for all to choose from.
We have been there a number of times. We had company from Maine and they loved it. The food was delicious as usual as were the drinks. We are also loving our leftovers. We were sorry that the weather was not conducive to taking the tour but they will have to come back for that. We have some more company soon and we will take them there.
The wild game plate was outstanding! And don't skip out on dessert. The chili chocolate boubon cake was something to wrote home about! Service was excellent. And on top of all that, the atmosphere is perfect and the restaurant has a fabulous story behind it. Thoroughly enjoyed!
