Too crowded (tables on top of each other) and too touristy to be worth the price.

Best steak ever, melted in my mouth. The only issue, we waited for a while to get service. My wife and I loved the place, this was her birthday dinner. The wait staff was friendly, very kind and we enjoyed how they treated us.

The food is unique in that buffalo and elk are served. I had the buffalo prime rib and it was very tender and tastey.

The bison prime rib had a lot of fat and gristle Lot better last year. I will never order it again. About a half of it was fat.

Always love the atmosphere and great food at the Fort. The flute playing was excellent and learned some Colorado history along the way. Great experience and we'll visit many times!

We took my Mom for her 80th birthday. It was special. It was pretty expensive though but worth it for a special occasion.

Unique offerings. Portions exactly right—room for the entrees after a small-to-medium salad and same for appetizers. The entrees also just enough, cooked well and still room for dessert & coffee. The Prickly Pear cocktail very, very nice, too!

Waitstaff very helpful without hovering.

Food outstanding ... noise level with the "partying groups" too high for 83 year old Mom.

The service was outstanding. The food, while some rave about it, I believe to be mediocre and terribly overpriced. My wife and I have been there a few times, and I have yet to have my meal cooked to the correct temperature.

But it was a great atmosphere to meet up with some old friends and chat for a couple hours.

Firt time to The Fort and we were delighted with our experience. Ambiance can’t be beat, we had the game platter which is a combination of bison, elk and quail. All were cooked to perfection, potatoes and green beans were perfect, salad and dressing very good, and dessert scrumptous! Would highly recommend this iconic restaurant.

Very enjoyable evening! Appetizer was fun, enjoyed the salad and bread, ordered the prime rib which was great, a little disappointed in the green beans. Dessert took us back to the 1960s and Nestle Quick on top of ice cream.

The Fort provides an iconic holiday meal experience, covering all aspects from service, food and ambience to a T! The atmosphere was festive, and we could tell everyone around us was having a good time, just like us. We had a hard time deciding what to order, but in the end, each of us was pleased with our decision.

Always a good experience at the Fort. We had a fun evening trying on the 'hats' and laughing at ourselves. Marrow bones are always a fun time and the grandsons think they are the best. Obviously, my grandsons have good taste.

I've lived here for 30 years and had never been to the Fort. We were going to go for my birthday but it was booked so we decided to try a Sunday night. There were 6 in our party. It was expensive but the food was worth it. We did not have an appetizer and went straight for the entree. Five us ordered the bison prime rib and it melted in your mouth. The T-bone special was fabulous as well. The wait staff was very attentive but then again they were not that busy. I'd still recommend it.

The Fort is pricey but right in line with other places serving prime beef and game.

Let's be clear - the quality and preparation of the food was outstanding. I had the game plate with Bison, Elk and Quail and each was cooked perfectly , flavorful and tender. My wife had the Bison prime rib - asked for and received an "end cut". The wait staff (Ruth) and her assistance were knowledgeable, interactive, efficient, and unobtrusive. The Fort is always a fun place for special occasions and to bring guests from outside of Colorado.

That said, we found surprising limitations for a high-end restaurant. (1) All beer was in bottles and (unless I missed it) that fact was not published in the menu or noted by our server. (2) The selection of wines by the glass was limited and of course my wife's favorite wine (Muscato) was only available by the bottle. (3) The salad (included with dinner) contained various lettuces with no ability to substitute spinach - so due to digestive issues I had to pass on the salad. (4) There was no option to substitute the salad with soup or any other option. (5) There was no offer to adjust the bill.

On the plus side, because it was our anniversary, The Fort comp'd one dessert (highly recommended chocolate bourbon cake) which was a unexpected.

In summary, great food, service, and a unique ambiance. Peanut-butter stuffed Jalapenos (3), Bison, Elk, Quail, one bottle of Coors Original, one glass of Riesling, one glass of Malbec, and a comp'd dessert + 20% tip = $150.

Overall we enjoyed it. However, the duck was undercooked twice so that was disappointing. Fresh Green Beans were a hit, little undercooked as well, but better than being overcooked. I loved the Buffalo Filet Mignon..not sure it was $55 for 6oz worthy, but it was very tender and tasty. My husband enjoyed the Quail, tasty. Must try the Fort Potatoes, sooo good..melt in your mouth good. We finished it off with coffee and the Bourbon Spice Chocolate cake....best cake I've ever had in a restaurant. Oh, and the quacamole was delicious, just the right amount of spice. The fire pit was nice, too bad we couldn't see it from the table.

We have been in Colorado for 5 years, but, never went to the Fort. We ordered the chips and guacamole appetizer. It was real good. We also ordered the salmon entree and the shrimp entree. The salmon was very dry and lacked flavor. The shrimp was ok. We had to take some of the sauce from the shrimp and put it on the salmon to give it better flavor and make it go down easier. We were seated in a small little room with a fireplace. It was cozy, but, my husband wasn't crazy about looking at a wall for the evening as I looked through a doorway. It was quiet, but, being people watchers, we would have rather been amongst more people.
