Great for birthdays
The service could have been better...unless asked no refill for iced tea was offered. Also, I called after making the reservation to notify them that this was a birthday occasion. The employee taking the call assured me that this would be updated on the reservation. It was not.
Also, the atmosphere was good, but very difficult to read the menu, it was too dark.
First time. Food good very pricey. Excellent service. Will visit again but dinner for 4 with 20% gratuity was $340. Not a place you visit except for special occasions. RW
Great special occasion restaurant as on the more expensive end. Food cooked perfectly. Wait staff was attentive but not intrusive.
My husband & I were in town looking for a house to move from Florida & several folks recommended The Fort, I was able to get a last minute reservation & was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very friendly & knowledgeable & even showed us the Mountain Man toast when we asked, the food was delicious & authentic, we really enjoyed the Ute gentleman playing his flute & met the mountain man on our way out by the fire pit who was very clever & fun, we had a great experience @ The Fort & look forward to bringing guests who visit us in our new home in Denver!
Excellent service and very pleasant wait staff. The food was outstanding... especially those marrow bones!
Great setting (especially right by the fireplace, which was much to my 80 year old mother’s liking!), excellent food, and above average service. We all had the Winter Special Ribeye, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Started with bacon wrapped quail for an appetizer, and did a yummy chocolate dessert afterwards too. For drinks - prickly pear margaritas and red wine (some Cab and some Super Tuscan). All-in-all, a great meal! Looking to come back to enjoy the deck when the weather warms a bit!
I've been meaning to check out this restaurant for quite some time, so when Restaurant Week was about to end, we thought it would be a good idea to finally try their food. Boy, were we disappointed.
Maybe my expectations were too high since I've heard so many good things over the years, but I wasn't expecting to feel ripped off by the end of the meal! We ordered the Restaurant Week menu which was a salad for an appetizer, steak and quail for the entree, and a small chocolate pudding for the dessert. I don't think I would have been so upset over the lack luster food if we hadn't paid $100 for the two of us. For a basic salad, burnt quail, and a thoughtless dessert I feel like we shouldn't have had to pay that much. Then, to make it worse, we both had upset stomachs the next day.
There's a part of me that wants to give them another try because the service was so excellent, but a great waitstaff doesn't make up for the over priced food. Considering that Denver is becoming a hot spot for innovative food, The Fort is really going to have to step it up a notch if they want to compete seeing as an amazing view isn't enough to compensate.
Unfortunately won't going there anymore, the food quality went way down... use to be our favourite restaurant to go on spacial occasions...
We have visited the The Fort twice both times we have really enjoyed the food and experience. We are adventurous and like to try new things quail was new for us and it was delicious and so was the Bison Steak.
A great restaurant for any occasion. The food and service were excellent. We arrived an hour early for our reservation and they very graciously were able to accommodate us. I will definitely dine here again when I’m back in the area. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience.
We really enjoyed the Fort, we like the friendliness of the staff and the attentiveness of the servers. It always as if the customers are enjoying their experiences at the Fort. We also like the historical connection and usually spend some time after dinner just looking at the historical memoirs in the place.
Restaurant week had an awesome deal, first time at the Fort Restaurant and it was great.
The service was awesome, friendly with an attentive staff.
Yes, I will be going back to sit outside around the fire pit and take in the view of the Denver lights
What a great experience from start to finish! We got a bottle of wine and hung out by the fire while listening to the history of the building and mountain men. Food was good and service was amazing! :)
Great view in the Colorado Red Rocks. Food and service were wonderful as was the gentleman who explained Fort information. Very much enjoyed the evening date.
Best night out! Food was fantastic. The server was exceptional. Going back for my birthday. A+#1
My husband and I had an amazing time at the fort. There is so much history to be learned, beautiful views to see, and not to mention the great food! Everyone here was very friendly and informative. It was a great way to have different food and a fun themed restaurant but still elegant. It was our first time here but we will definitely be back and bring friends with us.
My husband and I went on Denver Restaurant Week . Liked the salad and steak. Did not have the room for dessert, only tried a few bites, it is OK. Overall, we liked it and will go back.
Had a great time. Food was exeptional. Service was fantastic. Over all a great dinning experience.
Nice time except one guest had a undone steak..they took it back to be corrected and gave us coupons for next visit.
The food and service was wonderful. Checking out The Fort during Restaurant Week was perfect because we got to experience this gem at a reasonable price.
We had a nice dinner experience at The Fort.
The guacamole was the best we’ve ever had a a restaurant! The buffalo steaks were cooked well and the teriyaki quail had great flavor. We also tried the green chili mac and cheese, which was good.
Overall it was a great dining experience - our server was polite, prompt and very nice and the ambiance was comfortable and active. The building is a cool feature and we’re looking forward to visiting in the summer when the outdoor seating is available.
Love the ambiance. Service was good and the food was superb!!
The Fort was a really fun way to celebrate a birthday. The food and the ambiance was great!
Great food and service. Restaurant week great time to check out
Got the Fort potatoes. OMG, talk about to much salt!!! The beans, corn, onions, and peppers were doused in salt. Just because they are served with red skin potatoes with no salt does not balance out the dish. Way to salty and I like salt. Everything else was great. Will NEVER get the Fort potatoes again.
The service was wonderful, so attentive, plus they shared with us the very interesting historical background of The Fort. We had the buffalo sirloin and quail. Both were very good especially the buffalo.
Other than the steaks being slightly undercooked, the food was delicious & the service was wonderful... the waitress & manager were more than apologetic for the mishap with the steaks & made great amends without the request to do so.. so much so that I left a 60% tip & plan to return to try more of the menu! Service was on point even when the food didn’t go as planned. Unique atmosphere & quite enjoyable!
We had a lovely dinner at The Fort during restaurant week. We brought a friend from out of town (out of the country, actually) and it was a fun and unique experience for her! The food was very good and the chipotle honey dressing on the salad was wonderful! We definitely would bring guests here in the future!
The food and service were both amazing but the restaurant was really dark and it was hard to see our menus.
We like to go during resturant week it's a little more affordable. But very tasty food and very enjoyable night out.
Great service by a friendly staff. Excellent food. A good time was had by all.
The food was cooked well but overall a little pricey for the quality.
Always great service and great quail, quiet and romantic
The fort itself is beautiful! The prices are out of my range except for when we do restaurant week. For that I think their food is good but the options aren't the best. Add-ons are a crazy expense and they only give you one roll and one small muffin per person and they dont refill them! Overall I dont think we will be going back for restaurant week.
For the price the steak could have been better quality. We took advantage of the restaurant week. The quail was very salty. The guacamole was delicious and so were our drinks. I feel that we are paying for a view more than anything. However, the service was fantastic.
The staff was incredible. We were sat in a drafty area and it was a bit chilly...After discussing this with our waitress, she came back after a couple of minutes and asked if we would like to move to the table directly next to the fireplace. She was terrific.....The food on the other hand was nothing special. We have eaten there a few times in the past and I must say that the food did not live up to the memories I had of previous visits. I had the combination game plate and my friend had the filet....Neither of the dishes were spectacular. The place has a very run down look (maybe that's the look they are going for....I get that it's an old Fort...but I wasn't impressed with the decor or feel of the restaurant). Other than the terrific waitress, nothing else about the experience stood out...except for the extremely high price for just "OK" food.
Execellent as usual - Made resevations for 8 and people were waiting when we got their but immediately had table for the 4 of us- we all had bison filet with quail - was excellent - my portion had to take hone -everyone got the desserts to go were that full with dinner and appetizer- guacalmore was excellent - wish my recipe turned out the good. - Gerry K
Unique dining experience with a Colorado flair. Great place for a special occasion and to bring out of town guests. Definitely one of my favorites!
