Lovely place with wonderful ambiance and outstanding views. Interior dining room can be loud. Food is delicious with unique offerings. Little expensive if not òverpriced. The service was excellent.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. I’ve been going to the Fort for years. Always fun!!
love the buffalo tenderloin. Wish is was less expensive. We'd come there more.
Food was excellent as well as the service. A great place for a celebration
To us The Fort is a real Colorado experience! We appreciate the attention given to the Native Peoples. The Blackfeet flutist is spectacular!!! Nothing about this place seems gimmicky. The food is straightforward- delicious bbq buffalo ribs, pumpkin and pepitas muffins, and be sure to try the prickly pear margarita! Save some time to enjoy the patio at sunset for a spectacular view of the valley and the lights of Denver. The Fort is our go-to destination for out-of-town visitors, and we thoroughly enjoy the experience every time!
We sat outside for drinks and snacks, had dinner inside, service was OUTSTANDING !!
More exotic meals like Elk chops, Buffalo filet and quail were superior !! Then again had desert on outside patio with fireplaces in cushioned couches !! We must have drove the wait staff nuts, but they catered to us.
A wonderful 60th Birthday ( again ) experience. A bit pricey, but a unique place. Still one of my favorite places, after 24 years !!
Hostess sat us in a corner by the drink station. It was a special occasion and listed that in the reservation. When I asked if we could sit in the main dining area with the windows, I was told there was no room. However, others who came after us were seated there. It was poor customer service. Don't waste money on appetizers or dessert. Main course (meat) was fine.
We had a great experience at The Fort.
The menu has a wide variety of choices. The steak I had was amazing!
We arrived early to have a drink before dinner. Wd were told there was no bar but we could be seated and have a drink at our table. After dinner we walked outside to the patio with a fabulous view and people were being served drinks out there. We were never told that was an option. Room we were seated in had NO view or atmosphere.
Overall disappointing evening. Probably would not return. Food was average at best.
The food was great, our waiter was very attentive and the seating was good, the view, by the way, was outstanding. We had a very enjoyable experience.
The Fort is our sole destination for special occasions. It is the last of my native area’s special places, like Briarwood Inn & Red Lion. The Fort’s enthusiasm to share our state’s past, with its wonderful Native American educator and more, takes me back to an often tough but amazing time in Colorado’s history. I can visualize myself during these times, and that to me is escapism that beats anything. The food and the staff could not be better. Thank God for The Fort.
Amazing venue, beautiful location, and wow! the food and the service were incredible!
Great place to meet friends or for a special occasion. The food was wonderfully prepared and presented and delicious. The meat- eaters at our table enjoyed the unique buffalo and elk offerings and the vegetarian offerings were yummy too.
Many thanks to Joe and Emily for serving us a great anniversary dinner at The Fort!!
My son chose The Fort for his birthday dinner. Everything was delicious. My favorite part was sitting outside in front of the fire pit after dinner. Perhaps you offer to serve dessert outside. It would have been perfect.
Overpriced theme restaurant good for one time visit but way too expensive for food quality! App was Quail wrapped in Bacon 4 tiny pieces dry $16 wouldn’t have ordered if I’d known! $59 NY Strip 14 oz nothing special with small Salad, Red Potatoes & 1/2 ear corn. I do much better Steaks at home! Servers Theme Uniforms looked dirty & old owner should supple Uniforms!
I am foodie and love visiting places I see diners, drives & drive-in and food paradise. Service was a little slow to start. Food quality was o.k but felt it was overpriced. Spectacular views from their perch and the structure is cool with a interesting story. Do offer some unique options: elk steak, buffalo, lamb t-bone and Rocky mountain oysters ( actually quite good )
When you spend $165 (before tip) for a meal you expect the food to be hot when you get it and the steak not to be tough.
I'm not going to write a fair review because I simply prefer lighter healthier food, so if you like heavy old wild west food then you'll be happy. The food is overpriced in my opinion. I feel like they are riding on their reputation and it's overrated. Maybe I've just traveled too much and eaten too much good food for astonishing cheaper. Our waiter Eric made a huge difference for me. He was absolutely amazing and so professional and kind. Letting us take our appetizer and after dinner our desert out on the patio for the view as really lovely. I definitely recommend that aspect if you can do that and not have diner. Breathtaking view --- I would go back for that.
delicious food and drink, the staff was awesome! The teriyaki quail was delicious!
Been going there for 40 plus years. There was a dip for a few years but are now reaching the heights of excellence they had during the best years when Sam was still running it.
The food was excellent, the wait staff attentive and friendly and the native American flutist extraordinary.
Took family members to dinner. Food was very good, as always and although we had never had the waitress before (we usually get Mary L or Ruth), she was very good. What I did not like and was most disappointed in the the mention of payment you have gone to. You can pay that way at restaurants like Applebees - seems really cheap for The Fort to take that route. Also, we had to pay 20% tip - what if we wanted to pay more or less?
Food and service were excellent.
The Fort has maintained its quality over the years.
Loved this place!
Wonderful atmosphere! Food is out of this world! Very Scenic view of the mountains and overall a great place to get away and relax. Only complaint is that I can't take the restaurant home with me!
A must for anyone celebrating or wanting a peaceful dining experience
I celebrated my 50th birthday here a year ago but didn’t get to enjoy the patio. Came back and was able to enjoy all the restaurant has to offer. Had appetizers & drinks on the patio. Was able to meet the local historians and learned about how the Fort came to be.
Arrived almost an hour early looking forward to special drink on patio. Very busy restaurant so drink order didn’t arrive until we finally pursued it inside. Our party enjoyed wine and beer, but tonic mix seemed flat with gin. The peanut butter jalapeños were usual highlight, but guacamole was surprisingly disappointing...won’t order again. Two fish orders were excellent as were the three buffalo entrees along with accompanying fresh fire-roasted vegetables and potatoes, but meal delivery from kitchen was delayed and staggered...given large number of guests we assumed. Desserts and coffee outside were fun despite very windy conditions ...the view is spectacular and the setting is very fun with a very unique personality. Experience was good, but not great, which we’ve had on previous visits...enjoyed being back, but little distractions kept it from being a 5 star quality evening! Special thanks to wait staff...she tried very hard from beginning to end!!!
I found out the Gonzales steak was a meal that the owner of the fort had a great conversation with Mr Gonzales! Great story!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of the local 'go-to' spots before a concert at Red Rocks. Service was great, fast & friendly! Room & views are awesome. But sadly the food was just OK and ridiculously overpriced. Two of us had steaks that were >$50 each, but were a bit overcooked so tough & grissley. I don't mind paying for great steak, but that is not what we got. Disappointed, but everything else was great. just wish they could get their steak right. Table next to us was raving about the Bison ribs. Buyers remorse...
Great evening of food and fun!
I thought we could get a quick bite before a show @ Red Rocks here & the web page for the restaurant promoted an "event menu" for these occasions.Asked for it & the wait staff couldn't produce/present it.Like they had never heard of it.So getting past that ,everything was as advertised.Local natives & foodie critics love this place for good reason. The staff was friendly & attentive.Bread & Pumpkin Walnut Muffins served came early & were great while we wait for main course. We tried the Rocky Mountain Oysters that were a hit with our group. My selection included 'The Fort Game Plate".Elk,Buffalo & Quail cooked to perfection with Fort Potatoes & seasoned vegetables made for a stimulating combination .The atmosphere was festive & the setting is classic old west.
My wife and I both ordered our meals to be medium rare. My wife ordered the bison and shrimp plate - Her bison came back as medium, which she decided to eat anyway. Her shrimp came back so overdone, burnt and dry that she had to send it back. The replacement shrimp was excellent. I ordered the bison, elk and quail plate. The elk was served well overdone, so I sent it back. The replacement was very good. We had planned on getting a gift card for my son and his fiance to enjoy a nice dinner the next time they were up in that area, but after our experience, we decided not to. Also, we had a few leftovers that we took home. They decided to pack the overdone shrimp and elk, along our leftovers that we wanted to take home. Not really sure why they thought we wanted it.
This is such an unique place to take out of town guests! The service was exceptional, along with some interesting plates of food to sample and the fact that we were celebrating an engagement within our group and two birthdays made it an extra special place to create some lasting memories!
The Fort is definitely a must! The view is amazing, you should just go and see the architecture and have a drink at a minimum. Our server was great, the food was great and the portions were huge. We all had lunch for the next day because we couldn’t finish it. I suggest going for a celebration meal as the location adds a special twist to it.
Very nice place but , too expensive. I probably will not go there again for a while.
We had a tenderloin and a rib eye. The steaks were nothing to write home about - satisfactory but definitely not worth the price. Certainly expected more flavor for dry aged steaks and the cost.
