The Flying Fleece is a traditional family friendly Lakeland pub, offering fresh seasonal food and classic pub dishes, made using only the finest freshest locally sourced ingredients.

With a fantastic selection of local real ales, fine wines from around the world, and a range of premium lagers and ciders. Enjoy a drink and a meal outside on our beautiful terrace, lined with pretty flowers and looking on to the famous historic Bridge House, which stands over Stock Beck.

We’re lucky enough to be positioned close to several popular walking routes, making us the perfect place to fuel up before a hike or to rest up after a hard day trekking in the Lake District fells. Dogs are welcome in our bar and restaurant area.

We've been here many times before but on this occasion they had run out of specials and there was a problem with one of our meals. But the staff went out of their way to resolve the issue. It's a lovely restaurant with a straightforward pub type menu. Portions are generous

I enjoyed a vegetarian roast dinner and my partner a fish and chips. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Different levels of the pub allowed for us to be seated in an area that seemed to be separated from those with children which is a nice treat when on a weekend away from the children 😂

After being blown away two months ago by the best Sunday lunch we have had, we were really looking forward to taking members of our family to try it out. We had built it up to be the best Sunday lunch ever. Unfortunately this time the food arrived within 5 minutes of being ordered which is never a good sign. Whilst my chicken was nice, the potatoes and vegetables were terrible. My wife’s beef was inedible (vegetables and potatoes were the same as mine) and my son’s lamb meal was also unsatisfactory. All in all very disappointing and will not be returning.

We always tend to eat at the Tap Yard opposite and rate it highly. Sadly I felt disappointed on the food here, both me and my husband had the roast. It was average at best. There seemed to be alot of cabbage/ not much other veg. My husband had the trio of roast which was obviously more expensive yet not much more meat. Mash potatoes wouldn't go a miss. We went elsewhere for puddings as they seemed lacking. The place itself was really nice and the serving staff were lovely.

The food came out very quickly but it wasn’t very tasty. We were on the second floor and it was very dark. The guy who served us was good but the whole experience was meh!

When we entered the Flying Fleece we were totally blanked by the four members of staff who were standing there. They were more interested in talking amongst themselves. The food was average at best. The oven chips were cold. Our son and his girlfriend came to join us the following evening. We could have gone back to the Flying Fleece but we obviously went elsewhere. I know they probably don't care but that's £100 the FF missed out on.
