Great experience. Food was good, waiter was great! Was a little worried about past reviews, but we had zero problems!
Filet and shrimp brochettes over cooked waiter tended to hover
The oysters were to salty and the broccoli had no taste. My husband and I ate outside. I did not enjoy eating my food around a stray cat walking around. Will not ever go there again. The waiter was awesome.
Food was very average and not too tasty
We were disappointed that the fine dining was turned into a banquent room. We've been going to The Flying Dutchman for 25+ years and was looking forward to reminiscing. Now it's just like every other restaurant on the Kemah Boardwalk.
The food, cocktails, service and ambiance were perfect. The seafood queso was outstanding and our server brought us more chips with our even asking. We both ordered the broiled platter and enjoyed it so much..took about half home..delicious! The bartender made a mean old fashioned too! 😁
There were 15 of us at one table, including 5 children and spilled milk. Our waiter, Sam, did a wonderful job. The food was decent and it all came out at the same time. (And still warm!) Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Absolutely brilliant will be going back again soon
Server Dylan was very good. But food was very disappointing. Seeings were small and not well prepared. Even the dessert lacked. Won’t be back, too many other places in the area that have better quality seafood at more reasonable prices.
I guess we set our expectations too high at a entertainment complex restaurant, however we were expecting better. I had the redfish, with a cup of lobster bisque. My daughter had grilled shrimp with fettuccine pasta, with steamed broccoli on the side. Both dishes. including vegetables sides were overcooked. The service was painfully slow even though our waiter was quite pleasant as an individual. They do not team when busy, so if your waiter is gone, you’re sunk. it took us 15 minutes to get Parmesan cheese for daughters pasta; this after two requests.
Will not be making a repeat visit anytime soon.
It was just SO salty, & that made it hard to like. James was a fantastic waiter. When the manager came around to ask how everything was we told him about the over abundance of salt. He just didn’t seem to be too concerned.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with excellent service. The Whitefish Victoria was very good and the seafood platter was exactly what my husband wanted. We had a table with a view of the water and were able to have a leisurely dining experience.
No, the food was not that great. It was ok but not something to go again for.
Haphazard service. Drink menu items sold out by 7pm. Food disappointing.
Loved our time here! Luke was a fantastic waiter. So accommodating and friendly! Never had an empty drink!
Very poor service... I am a frequent visitor but this was probably an experience that would make me not want to return..
We visited this restaurant to celebrate Father’s day as a family. Although, I wanted our table to be outdoor, my husband insisted to be indoor, and the hostess was fast to accommodate our new suggestion. Food was so good, fresh and tasty. The waiter was very nice and helpful. Very lovely environment. Its location by the playground makes it a perfect place for family with young kids. Highly recommended.
Great service great food. Our waitress Brianna was awesome and very attentive. Will come back again. The shrimp platter was great. Our seating right in front of thw water was awesome
There were several salads offered including a Caesar salad but the only difference was the dressing. All four of us ordered a couple different salads but with different dressings. They were the same salad. The vegetables that came with entrees were so raw you couldn’t cut them, I.e., carrots, brussle sprouts and broccoli. Our reservation was for an anniversary but no one one asked anything about it. We do not plan to go back. Traveled an hour to get there too.
Service was good, food fresh and good, however main meal brought to table soon after receiving appetizers which caused our food to sit for additional time before we were ready for it.
I love this restaurant. I bring all my family and friends from out of town to check it out.
It would not be our choice for a destination meal. Our friends selected the restaurant.
Service was slow despite not being very crowded. BBQ shrimp were very bland, small shrimp and bread totally crumbled as you tried to break a piece off. Waiter couldn’t find a dessert menu.
Excellent meal, fantastic food!
In a nutshell, all food was premade and then reheated, over salted, over cooked. And we received zero compassion or understanding from the management and wait staff. It was a terrible terrible meal on Mother’s Day no less.
It’s not a one time occurrence either, same poor food quality a month earlier.
The Flying Dutchman was an extraordinary culinary experience. The seafood gumbo, crab cakes & oysters Rockefeller as appetizer were perfection then the main entree of shrimp & oysters, shrimp po-boy plus seafood platter was heaven. Then came the sundae as dessert- perfection. Highly recommended!!
The music was way to loud ruined the experience. The music was way to loud ruined the experience.
One of the nicer patio to enjoy Kemah, despite gray skies and threat of thunderstorm, the Flying Dutchman still attracts a crowd. Enjoyed fried catfish with veggies and rice. Pleasant staff and close to boardwalk for evening stroll.
We were there when there was no wait, not crowded. It still took forever to be waited on. The waitress want aware or wasn't told. She was very nice. My daughter got the snow crab legs, and these were basically too salty to eat. And I'd asked her if they were boiled in a brine and we were told no. But they must have been in a very salty boil. They were awful. A manager checked in is and we let him know, but he never came back. After a while of being finished with the rest of our lunch, and but seeing our waitress for over 20 minutes, we went in to ask for the bill. Finally paid and left. Won't be back. And I'm s Landry's member.
We walked out. Our server was clueless. I was ask for a refill on my drink and after 30 mins the server came back to the table and asked what I was drinking he had forgotten.
I ordered a meal at the bar and to start the service was terrible. People walked up to order to go food and were served much quicker than I was. It took about 10-15 min to get an iced tea as others ordered and received their drinks.
I ordered salad, shrimp cocktail and blackened fish. After waiting a while all three came out at once so the fish sat and got cold as I tried to quickly eat the salad and shrimp cocktail. Waiter was clueless to it all and it was very disappointing service compared to what I have received in the past.
Also I asked them to add my Landry’s select club card number. They did but also decided to use my points for this purchase which I did not want and should have been asked. So they then had to get a manager to reverse the charge and re-ring it deferring the points.
From start to finish a very disappointing experience and the Landry’s group should be much better than that.
Easter weekend with family! The food was sooo amazing and delicious. Drinks were good! My girls loved the food. Husband and I as well!
Staff was friendly! I loved it.
The food was mediocre at best. This is an uninspired, volume restaurant catering to tourists. My expectations were set from a visit here years ago when the food and service were wonderful. Our waiver was inexperienced and inefficient. We had to ask multiple times for simple things like more water.
The restaurant is in a great location. Right on the waterfront. Lots to watch and see. Their was a live band we listened to while eating. We had burgers and the Mac and cheese bites and clam chowder. All excellent. Even though I had a reservation, we still waited 10 minutes for a table. And we waited another 10 minutes to get drinks and place our orders. The servers were hustling and the manager did stop by to make sure we were getting what we needed.
Our meal started out well. We had an attentive server who then ignored us toward the end of our meal, to the point where we had to flag her down and almost got up to go get her. My fried shrimp had a weird breading that was similar to cornmeal, not mixed with anything else, like flour. They were cooked fine but the coating was minimal and the flavor was bland. The shrimp kisses we had as an appetizer were great. They were cooked to perfection and had great flavor. The coleslaw was horrible. It had a strange flavor and a terrible aftertaste.
The outdoor patio was great and the food was delicious!!! The crab bisque was amazing and the crab cakes were very tasty!
I made a reservation several days prior. Received a call morning of which was good, but when I arrived with my date the host said I had no reservation. After finding a manager the hostess seated us. Service was lethargic. Several times I had to ask someone else for something. Waiter basically stranded us while other tables were waited on near us by a much more attentive waitress. Took forever to get the bill so we could leave and enjoy walking the boardwalk at Kemah. Takes too long to clear tables so appearance is unclean which also attracts sea birds. This place has great potential but is currently off it's game.
Even though I made a reservation, we waited 45 minutes. Also, the waiter was slow and inattentive. The food was not good for the price.
Great oysters and can't beat the view! We will be back!
Amazing food, friendly staff, awesome drinks.. Definitely will come again.
