Return once again for the great food offered by The Florentine. The service this time around was outstanding - attentive, prompt and incredibly pleasant. The noise level was louder than previous visits, making it somewhat difficult to hear my guest during our lunch. But the food is incredible!
We have been here annually, and the food has been consistently delicious. The environment is perfect for dating/friends gathering, and the service has always been very friendly and accommodating.
Hands down a great experience. First off, we were on a tight schedule and had to catch the train and our server was AMAZING. (It says Bama 435 on the receipt as the server) She got our wine instantly and came back and took our order. Both of us were split on what to get I ended up getting the Salmon and it was maybe the best I've ever had. My friend was torn between the Risotto and the Ravioli and our server said "why not have both, I can give you a little of each." We also got the Burrata as an app. The food was outstanding the service was wonderful. She got us the check right away and we left exactly when we needed to. We would be definitely come back.
Service was very good as was the food. I met a client for lunch and the noise level was very high (energetic) more so than usual.
Very busy. Wonderful squash soup, more than just puréed butternut squash. Good gnocchi with a bit of spice to the bolognese. Great cannolo with a dusting of pistachios and chocolate. Excellent wines.
Please note that I have rated the food and the service quite differently. This used to be a reliable place for pre-opera. I can't imagine what has happened. We chose the Restaurant Week menu. I had a Caesar salad that had clearly been dressed hours before and kept in the refrigerator; the croutons were soggy. My husband had a passable butternut squash soup. Next came gnocchi with a Bolognese sauce. The gnocchi were so overcooked that it was difficult to get them to stay on the fork; they just fell apart. The combination of the mushy dumplings and canned-tasting sauce reminded us both of Chef Boyardee in the 60s. Neither of us ate more than one bite.
Much to his credit, one of the hosts noticed our pushed-aside plates and offered to bring us something else. We still had entrees coming so we declined but thanked him. Those entrees were laughingly different. I had ordered salmon and hadn't really paid attention to the preparation. The small piece (3 by 3 inches) looked beautiful with golden brown grill marks on it surface, but underneath the crust the fish was gelatinous. The "preparation" amounted to a small salad of mixed greens that may or may not have been dressed. It was a meal for someone who needs to lose a lot of weight, which I do not.
My husband's chicken parmesan, meanwhile, was a meal for people who need to gain weight. The heavily breaded and fried chicken covered an entire oval dinner plate. It was so large that you could not imagine what piece of chicken it originally might have been. Extruded and reformed? Not sure. It was then slathered in flavorless tomato sauce and topped with several cups of arugula and half a block of shaved parmesan. It was like a family style dish to pass at Maggiano's.
By now we had no confidence in dessert so we got the check and left. Again to his credit, the host had taken $20 off the bill, and he came by and apologized that we had not enjoyed our meal. So, service great, food lamentable.
I have used the Florentine for business lunches and interviews roughly 10-15 times per year. Unfortunately I continue to experience poor service over the last 4 visits. The manager is understaffing the table servers. On Friday after ordering our drinks, our server never came back. After 15 minutes we asked our busboy to please bring us our drinks. Our server came over and said she'd bring them right over. She came back 5 minutes later to take our order but without our drinks. We asked again nicely, noting that it was crowded but that we'd like them. 15 minutes later our food arrived, not as ordered, and then a different server brought our drinks. I know it gets busy but three tables that came in after us were served and out the door before we finished our first couple of bites. Our server is a long term employee, so she should have known and done better. So after several declining experiences, time to move to a more professional restaurant for business lunches. For the cost ($50-60 for two), service should be better...
Great spot for lunch. The noise level was a little high though.
I understand this restaurant is in a hotel which usually means a little higher price, but note most wines were 2.5 to 3X the retail price which is unacceptable. We were a party of six and the 20% gratuity was automatically added, including for the 2 bottles of wine(this too is unacceptable). The food was good and service team were prompt and attentive.
There are far better restaurants in the downtown Chicago area to choose from. I would avoid this one.

Went here with my family before seeing Hamilton. It wasn’t crowded at all and food and service were great. Only downside was the music was a little 80s and didn’t go with an Italian restaurant ambiance. I had an amazing pork shank!
Service and Food - mixed - sometimes our waiter was excellent, but sometimes he disappeared. We were 30 minutes late due to heavy traffic coming into the city and we had a 7:30 showing at Hamilton. We arrived at 6:05pm and had an hour for dinner - doable, not as relaxing as wanted, but still doable. I ordered a salad, which never came (didn't say anything since we were pressed for time) and our food came out fairly quickly. My salmon was good, but my son and daughter's gnocchi was just so-so - not awful, but not very good. My husband's filet was good. Dessert - tiramisu was more of a pudding - interesting and good, but not great and the donut holes were ok - my family liked them, I thought they tasted too greasy.
Hostess - EXCELLENT - she was very kind and helpful as we were very stressed with the bumper to bumper traffic. She said not a problem pushing our 5:30 reservation to 6pm and sat us at a nice booth. Very friendly, personable and professional.
They're on the second floor of the Marriott with valet! Nice walkable location to the theater.
It was a bit noisy and the line to get in was out the door, but man, service was excellent and the food was good too! My friend and I had a 12pm reservation. She only had 45 minutes to eat and noted this to our friendly waiter. Our waiter put in our order right away and we were out of the restaurant by 12:45 p.m. - perfect timing. The food was exactly what we needed on this cold, wet, day - warm, delicious and comforting. I'll definitely be back!

This is a very good restaurant and a surprise to find it in a hotel. I am from out of town, but do business in Chicago 2-3 times a year and stay in the area. I keep coming back. Food is very good, wine list would be excellent, but for the pricing, which is slightly high. Staff are good and attentive without being overly so. Last, very conducive setting to meet with colleagues or clients and be able to talk. Room is nice, if a bit sterile, but again, it is in a hotel. Overall very good, but not quite excellent.
Ordered $85 32oz steak medium had to send it back 3 times until finally it was cooked medium.
The occasion was a family dinner. The service was good and the menu seemed nice and I was excited when we ordered. But the food was unbearably salty. I wasn’t the only one that thought so. I think it was san marzano tomato sauce. I don’t think I’d eat there again.
Fancy places, open even in Christmas Day, and service is perfect!
Food was average at best. The server was noticeably absent. At the end of our meal I looked at my watch. It took a full 20 minutes before anyone came by and acknowledged us, offered desert or refilled waters. Many other great Italian restaurants in Chicago. Don't waste your time or appetite here.
