We reserved Based on menu choices online and when we showed up and were seated they said they only had a small menu that night due to the Marathon. We would have expected to get a notice or something as there were minimal choices and the portions were extremely small for the prices . Our waiter was ok but didn’t offer desert or anything to make up for our disappointing night . We had planned in advance as my son was running the marathon .
We had to wait for almost an hour for our meal.
I was there for the Chicago Marathon. They had a limited menu which I appreciated. The kitchen could not keep up and the wait was a bit longer than one would expect. All and all it was fine and I got the pasta I needed for the race but would not recommend for any special occasion.
Very nice place, well decorated and quite large. Food is very tasty and staff very accommodating. We really enjoyed it!
Closeby to the Lyric Opera.
Always Excellent service.
we had a great experience at The Florentine. The manager was highly involved in everyone's service experience and made himself present which I really enjoyed. The food was good, we really enjoyed all of the wait staff's recommendations. I would 100% return!
Wonderful evening where they made the birthday one of us was celebrating special as well. Friendly staff, food was excellent.
Excellent food and service! Would highly recommend.
Meal was just okay.
Great restaurant, amazing food & service
I love this place for a work lunch. Haven't done dinner yet but would like to. They are polite, efficient and the food is good. They do a great job for weekday biz or casual lunches. No pretention.
A business associate started at the bar for happy hour, having one drink each and getting a free pizza as part of the happy our special. We had the sweet corn pizza and it was excellent. We then moved to a table for dinner, ordering the crab shooters via a cucumber roll per se as the edible shot glass. It was a light and refreshing as far as appetizers fo. We split the Branzino and mushroom risotto both of which were excellent. Nice bottle of wine too (Chianti - il Molino di Grace), which we shared.
Food was good. We had the salmon. The dessert was the panna cotta and was just sweet enough.
This was a great dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. They accommodated my dietary needs (certain allergies), and when we didn't have time for dessert (we had to catch a show), they sent us home with a couple cookies for free. Would absolutely recommend this.
We celebrated our 32 wedding anniversary and we were treated like royalty. Our server Angel and the matre d Gil made our experience top notch. All the servers worked as a team.
Everything from the service to our food was absolutely 5- star! Very authentic Italian food which my husband and I can’t get enough of. It was his birthday, and we were greeted with a handwritten card from the Florentine staff wishing him a Happy Birthday. As if that wasn’t sweet enough, we were also given two complimentary glasses of Champaign to celebrate the occasion. Our waiter was so attentive and did a great job in explaining the dishes to us. We definitely will be back very soon!
Lovely dinner. Great service all around from Manager who seated us, waiter was truly great, back waiter everyone was so nice and accomodating. Would highly recommend.
Good food, lovely decor, great service
I had a delicious salad with grilled chicken and various fruits and berries. Very healthy but also tasty. And service was very good and friendly. Plus the restaurant is attractive and not overly loud. Excellent business lunch venue.
Food just "OK". Typical salad with way too much dressing.
The food, staff, and ambience are spectacular at the Florentine Room.
One of the best Italian meals ever. And we’ve taken pasta classes in Florence!
Excellent service & food!
Best Branzino in Chicago!!!!’
Had a really great business lunch here. Loved the food all around the table. It’s bright and always busy. Will be back when I am further into the Loop.
I selected your restaurant for a business meeting and the location was right. I looked at the menu and reviews. The servce and food was excellent. I am vegan and there were nice options for me.
I hope you will do a vegan risotto (option) add cheese and cream after to finish in the future-- like a mushroom risotto/shitake or portabello : )
I will definitely consider you for future business meetings and events,
Thank you, Rob! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Excellent service and food.
Food and service were excellent
We are long-time Chicago residents and enjoy our weekly nights out at the new restaurant du jour. We enjoy sampling new restaurants, but this is always our "go-to" when we want a relaxed, delicious meal with no pressure and no surprises. It always disappoints me that we can never find a restaurant like this at any hotel anywhere in the world.
The New York strip steak was not a strip sirloin at all. It was a very poor cut of meat sliced like London Broil and hidden with mounds of over cooked French fries. It was fatty with much gristle and cooked rare when I specifically asked for medium rare; twice! It didn’t even qualify as dog food. I was with family and didn’t want to make a scene and the wait staff didn’t stick around anyway. A shameless bait and switch. A $250.00 tab for less than McDonalds quality and service.
Can get really noisy in the back
It was loud
Menu was not as diverse for an "Italian restaurant" as we hoped. Was expecting more pasta dishes.
Caesar salad was good. Had a filet with whipped potatoes on the side, both of which were very good.
Cocktail menu was too much and not something I would normally choose. I ended up having iced tea since their signature cocktails were just odd.
Wait staff was very attentive.
Ambiance was very pleasing to the eye but a little loud with the bar being in the main dining room.
We went to this restaurant because we were staying at the JW Marriott (The Florentine is on 2nd floor of this hotel.) I would try it again if we were in this area of the city.
I had not been back to The Florentine in eight years. It was even better this time than the last.. everyone chose a different Italian entre . Everyone said it was their best meal in the last year. The wine list is interesting. We all like dry reds, so that is what we drank. The service was perfect.
We all want to go back the next time we meet in Chicago.
Always a good meal great service and nice ambiance
The receptionists were downright unhelpful, bordering on rude. Despite the fact that 3 of the 5 people in our party were present, they refused to seat us. When we asked, they said they wouldn't seat us until the exact time of the reservation. Even when all five of us were present, they said they would only seat us at 12:30, the exact time of the reservation. I won't be returning.
Half off bottles of wine on Sunday. Calamari app was delicious. Steak perfectly cooked. Shrimp was outstanding. Only hiccup was parking, but was addressed and corrected.
Very nice ambiance and restaurant. Very welcoming Maître d'! Great food!
This was one of the best dinner experiences we ever had. Food was unbelievable and everyone was extremely friendly.
Condition is getting worn which is especially noticeable during the daytime—at a business lunch. Food cones quickly—a little too quickly even for a business lunch
Always a wonderful experience. Excellent food and friendly accommodating service.
