Flash fried brussell sprouts a must have App. They readily substituted a risotto for a cous cous on my swordfish entrée.
My two brother and spouse, my husband and I gathered for a special sibling evening. We had been there in early spring and enjoyed the service, the food and the sparse but tasteful elegance. We were very disappointed this time primarily due to the noise level. It was a busy evening and we found we could not have a full table conversation because it was so noisy. This factor alone affected everything. Service was ok but we could not hear the server. Other tables started yelling louder so they could communicate within their group. Dining in such an unpleasantly loud and disruptive environment is simply not enjoyable. I strongly urge the Flats to invest in noise baffles. Wood floors, no window treatments, no carpets, cathedral ceilings make this an echo chamber. If we had an evening that allowed dialogue my scores would be over a 4.
The Flats Brewster was lovely surprise. We were greeted and seated quickly by the host. Our server was very attentive and helpful. He kept us informed that we would not be able to have our beverages because there was an issue with a machine but kept our water glasses filled. The menu was expansive and the sizes of the small plates were larger than expected. We ordered four dishes to share and the shrimps boiled in ale and the oyster platter was abundant as well as delicious. The seafood was very fresh. Our other two choices were an Israeli couscous salad and cauliflower au gratin. Both were so well prepared and tasty. We were so full we couldn't have dessert. Overall a very well organized restaurant and the service and food were better than expected. We would return there if we were in the area.
Our dinner at the Flats Brewster was a mixture of very good and not so good. For the very good: the setting/ambiance is pleasant and calm. It's really nice to be able to have a conversation without raising our voices, and our server was excellent. He had a lovely manner and helped us to decide on the right wine for our dinner, and the wine list is very reasonably priced
The foccaccia with seasoned olive oil brought to our table was excellent. The mussels were in a flavorful sauce, but were very small and a bit overcooked. The tuna was also overcooked although I had requested that it be rare. The black olive gnocchi were okay, but not great. My husband's scallops were delicious, but were overwhelmed by the huge plate of risotto that was extremely rich: not the best ratio of protein to fat and carbs.
Would we return? Yes, but we would ask more questions about the items on the menu. We hope this restaurant does well because we think it has great promise.
We were there early and no one else there. We were concerned that maybe we made wrong choice for dinner but the food was great and the portions were larger than expected. Wait staff was very attentive and we will be back
We arrived to a fairly empty restaurant on a Saturday night at 7pm. Seating was plentiful and we had a reservation. The hostess seated us and the waiter came and brought water. He never introduced himself. I had to
Ask his name. We ordered drinks and they came but my wife’s vodka gimlet was horrible. All cloudy and tasted like all lime juice with no vodka. She immediately sent it back and rec’d another - which was just as bad as the first. She changed to wine. Menu was adequate and not reasonable. All the sides are ala carte. We ordered clams casino and salad, both delicious. Then the waiter approached and asked for our dinner order. He had shared the menu specials earlier. My wife ordered the Tuna and I had the shrimp Pappardelle. Both were excellent. However, bread came later which was good with oil and olives. The waiter never asked if we needed more drinks as my beer glass was empty. He also never made any amends to the terrible drinks that the bartender who was dressed in a T-shirt made. Dessert was supposed to be blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. There was no cobbler. Just blueberry sauce. Our bill was $136. And while the food was delicious it was not a generous portion like you get at other restaurants. With so many Cape Cod outer cape restaurants to go to, don’t waste your time here. While food quality was excellent, portions, pricing, and drinks need some attention. In addition, hire a bartender that knows how to pour a decent drink with some booze and hire wait staff with a personality. Steve was nice, as was the girl that was helping serve, but no one went out of their way to make our experience so memorable so we would go back. Go to the Captain Linnell House in Orleans if you want value. They close for good on Dec 1. Great drinks, generous portions, and hostesses, bartenders, and wait staff with personalities. I’d definitely pass on The Flats. It was just that, FLAT!
Creative cuisine, well executed. Cheerful service. Both meals were among the best we’ve had in 10 years on the cape.
Marvelous food, beautifully plated, creative[e.g. Diced vegetables inside each split mussel shell]. Special Cape fish eatery.
Dinner was great. 3 gf’s sat at bar.
Kelsey was an awesome server.
We had striped bass, scallops and buffalo and all were
beautifully prepared and delicious.
Will definitely go back.
This pace is horrible. The server was so rude and the food was not even edible. I have already told multiple guests at our hotel not to go there. They honestly don’t deserve to be in business.
Service and food was great. My only comment is that the
acoustics are pretty bad. We had a hard time hearing
our waiter. Prices were very reasonable.
Good food but nothing particularly outstanding. A very large cricket landed on our table (before we had any food thankfully) and instead of rushing over to help us get rid of it the wait staff just watched and then seemed disappointed when we killed the bug...not great customer service.
No one told us we were booking a table in the Bar. Televisions in front and behind us. Food is mediocre at best. Won’t be back.
Fried artichokes were delicious & innovative. Salmon was superb. Tomato pasta with seafood was divine. Service was top-notch. Not to be missed Restaurant when on the Cape/near Brewster! Definitely a great one.
Good food, good service, enjoyed the experience. Abit pricey, but not over the top.
Our family had a wonderful experience. The adults and children all thought that their dinners were great.
Love the private alcove for 7. Food and service was excellent
Yes, we had an excellent dinner. Great food, great service and great setting.
Great dinner and evening. Service was perfect. Only issue was very noisy. I use hearing aides, turned up high but still couldn’t hear my dinner partners. Louder than usual but still love the service and food!! Love the small plates
Excellent food and service. Our waiter Steve was very personable and attentive. (And attractive!)
Swordfish was perfect and duck tender and flavorful. We will definitely go again!
The food was nice, the cocktails well made and generous. The service seemed a bit uneven; you could tell it was a newer place. But overall, a nice evening and pretty reasonably priced.
Lovely restaurant but too expensive - small portions with large prices
Food was excellent. Would highly recommend and visit again.
Making the dinner reservation through Open Table we did not know that there is limited seating in the dining room; we were given a table in the (noisy) bar. We asked about dining room seating but were told "no room". My entree--the "special" buffalo steak--was tough and grisly ($38). My wife's fish entree was good. Waiter was personable, but the overall experience was a disappointment; we would not go back.
Food was very good. Bar area where our family was seated was loud and person leaned back on stool from bar and fell into one of our attendees.
Needed another waiter in bar area due to number of people seated at tables.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Flats in Brewster. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. A great start to our vacation in Brewster!
Service was fine but the food was terrible and not worth the price.
Terrific as usual. We brought a guest and she loved it.
Excellent food, great ambience, highly recommend.
Honestly, I was disappointed with the restaurant. We were seated in the bar but were looking forward to a nice quiet dinner with friends. The bar was very loud and quite busy. The table was lower than the chairs so it was awkward. nor comfortable. The waiter had to scream so we could hear him.
The food was good, the drinks were good, but the atmosphere and ambiance were bad enough to keep us from returning. I was expecting something a little more up scale and intimate.
Server was spectacular. Can’t wait to go back.
Wonderful experience. Dayboat scallop appetizer delicious, but only two scallops. Lobster scampi special was outstanding; and the pan seared salmon was absolutely delicious. Our server was Nelly, and he was warm, friendly and very helpful. Wonderful addition to Cape Cod scene.
Delicious, unusual food preparations. Lovely presentation. Good, unobtrusive service.
Can be noisy but that depends on the crowd.
After a number of years, we returned to the Flats in Brewster. We had a great meal and our waiter could
not do enough for us. I had the sushi tuna. It was terrific. My wife had the day boat scallops. She enjoyed them immensely. The noise level was low. We could carry on a conversation without raising our voices.
Our waiter was Brian. He was a pleasure to work with. As I said above he could not do enough for us .
I have already recommended the Flats to neighbors. I intend to return.
Went to the Flats last night and was pleasantly surprised. Great food with many choices and willing to accommodate any type of one off requests. This is a hidden gem!! Other veteran restaurants around, watch your back. The Flats is an easy contender here!!!!
The food was good and it has a nice menu, with options for everyone.
This is a very nice addition to the North Cape dining scene. The food is excellent, the environment clean and simple and lively, and the staff lovely. There is great pride taken in the food and the presentation and we look forward to returning on our next trip to the Cape.
07-20-19 have great food, beautifully presented. Requests for special menu accommodations were easily accommodated
Great spot, well worth returning
We had a wonderful experience at The Flats with family celebrating a family birthday. Great food, excellent service and nice ambiance.
