The Flatiron Cafe

I went to Flatiron for my birthday dinner! Although I made the reservation stating a special reason, no one acknowledged it. That was the worst of it. Not a big deal, though. The restaurant was beautiful and quaint. The service was very professional and attentive without being intrusive at all. The food was amazing. We tried the potato encrusted scallops for an appetizer. I had French onion for my side instead of a salad: it was delicious. The menu is short, but full of amazing dishes. I appreciated the simplicity of a solid menu with such good dishes. We both had beef and loved it. No room for dessert, sadly. The table next to us had some cheesecake and it looked amazing.

This was probably one of the best meals I've had in Omaha. Everything was just perfection.

Flatiron is at the very pinnacle of food in Omaha. The appetizer sampler is a terrific way to begin a meal. The steaks are fantastic and tender, always well prepared. The duck is also a wonderful dish. I have never had a bad meal here. Their wine list is also varied and it includes some very nice values to enjoy with the meal. And simple, elegant desserts are terrific. A first-rate experience with first-rate staff.

Great atmosphere, cocktails, service and entrees! Perfect location before heading to the Orpheum Theater for show!

Would recommend this location for any special occasion, excellent service, great presentation, wonderful sauces and flavor in every menu item we sampled. Expensive but worth it!

Delicious gin drink. The best french onion soup in town. House salad was very good.
My entree, salmon was cooked nicely with lots of green beans. My husband's lamb, according to him, was delicious. The service was good and the ambiance was perfect for a date night

Fabulous. Seriously, everything is outstanding. The portions are plentiful and cooked superbly. Sea bass and duck entrees, Brussels sprouts and the best Caesar in town. This is the best restaurant in Omaha.

Great Omaha steak experience. They were a bit understaffed this eve, but our waitress was very apologetic and even offered a free drink for me and free desert for my mother who doesn’t drink. Great food and service and would go again.

This was our post-Valentines day date. My wife adores this place, and I certainly like it, so it was a good choice.

The wine was very good (Reisling and Cab), and the small plate (Portabello mushroom fries) was really interesting as well as tasty. Excellent.

Our server kept the meal paced well, which we really appreciated.

The entrees of RibEye and Tenderloin steaks were cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and had very nice sides. Again, nice pairings of flavor and textures. And of course, we shared each others plates, because...well, that's what you do.

Dessert and coffee finished the evening, and both were very good. The salted caramel ice cream in particular was just perfect. They'd obviously let it sit for a bit, so the flavors came forward more, and I ate every bite.

Valentines Day

Great atmosphere - excellent waiter - they had a communication snafu on wait staff so after we were seated no one greeted us for about 10 minutes - but they apologized and waved the corkage fee on our wine. Food was excellent. Low music in background is nice. Always a nice dining evening.

The meal was amazing and the service even better. It had been a few years since we’d been but we will not wait so long next time.

It’s my “go to” to treat my favorite people to a wonderful culinary experience! Service isimpeccable !

The only issue that we took away was the dishes tended to be a bit too salty. Other than that, our experience certainly met our expectations. The dining room was full, wait staff, though busy was attentive and accommodating. Quality of food and presentation was excellent. We would recommend to others and hope to return ourselves.

We hadn't been to the Flatiron for awhile but decided to plan dinner out.
We each had salads . . the house salad and romaine salads .. both were delicious.
The salmon and ahi were both great selections for our dinners.

We will be back again soon.

Dinner with business colleagues. A first time for three of the four of us. We all enjoyed it. Our waiter was excellent as was the food.

A bit noisier than we recalled. Several dishes were over-seasoned to outright too salty. Service was impeccable. Web menu needs to be updated.

The Flatiron is our "go to" place for a dinner before a show at the Orpheum. Friendly, efficient service--especially if you let them know that you have to make it to a 7:30 show. Food is always good, though I would like it if they would change the menu a little more often. I had the salmon; my husband had the bone-in ribeye special. Both were delicious and we took home leftovers. Great wine list; would love to have a few more wines offered "by the glass" since I didn't want to buy a whole bottle.

Dining at the Flatiron was an exceptional experience. I would go back in a heartbeat on a future visit. The shiitake mushroom small plate was one of the best bites I have ever had ... ever. Our server suggested we use the brussel sprouts small plate as a side to our beef... A perfect suggestion. My colleague and I shared our beef dish and somehow the chef managed to give us two different temperatures on the beef medallions ... much appreciated.
Lest you think it's only about the food, the staff was terrific and the room beautiful. A perfect balance of ambience, customer service and culinary expertise. Kudos to the ownership and service team!

The dining experience was exceptional! Was there for a anniversary dinner with my wife and everything was perfect. Grace was our server and her support staff was excellent. Food was amazing!! Joe runs a great show there.
