Off the beaten path. Hidden gem from the center of the Vail village action. Room nicely decorated. Cozy fireplace, food overall was great. We had short ribs, the flat iron steak and mushroom risotto. Definitely a good choice from those pretentious restaurants in the heart of the village
I tried this place for the first time with my wife. We were a bit underwhelmed and wouldn't go out of our way to go back. The food was OK. We ordered the Mac n cheese as a side item and were expecting a decadent dish. What arrived was ho-hum average. No bread crumbs on the top, what appeared to be one cheese and not very much of it. This was like SKINNY Mac n Cheese. The venison loin was one-note and was overpowered by Sweet - sweet lingonberry sauce, sweet yams, and sweet carrots. To much SWEET and the end result was a meal that just didn't have anything that would make me recommend it. 2 days later and my wife and I can't even remember what she had as an entree - that about sums it up:(
The ambiance of the place is nice but its way off the beaten path from the main street of Vail and not worth the effort to get over unless the food was exceptional.

They cancelled the reservation because of problems with the kitchen, it didn’t release my reservation from open table so I couldn’t book anything else for the evening.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Please know that there was a system error with Opentable and we are truly sorry for the way in which this emergency situation was handled. That said, we would like the opportunity to make things right and invite you to dine with us again. At your convenience, please feel free to contact us directly at the restaurant. Get a sign. When you come up the stairs into the upper level the restaurant The Fitz is down the Hall on your left. The bar The Fitz is what you enter into. Confusing and you will likely end up eating in the bar trying to figure out how wings and beer and bar stools could ever get more than a few stars. Annoying that staff fails to ask the simple question. “Are you here for the Restaurant or are you here for the bar? Perhaps a sign the CLEARLY Indicates where the Restaurant is located.
We’re sold on this place - definitely on the list!
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. The bar side was more casual than the dining area and offered a smaller menu. We went once and liked it so much that we cancelled a reservation we had at a different restaurant and went to The Fitz a second time over our 1 week vacation.
Great food and great service. Split the Tomahawk For a great steak! It fed four of us.
It was the most satisfying meal I’ve ever had. The burrata salad is excellent, and the 15oz bone-in filet was the best-tasting, most perfectly cooked steak I’ve ever had.
Server Liz was awesome as were drinks and dinner!
Fabulous .... very family. Delicious steak
This is a hidden gem. We were a party of 12 and Liz was our server. She was absolutely amazing, as was the food, cocktails and atmosphere.
Went for New Years early seating. Was advertised we could see the fireworks from our table. Could not. Very pricey for what it was. $100 per child for noodles, fries, dessert- no vegetable options. Understand it was a special event (New Years) but really $100 for the same food they are offered on every kids menu?
We had the best server at The Fitz. And the food was wonderful. Our server Liz from Canada was delightful and made fabulous recommendations. Well worth the expense and the entire staff was attentive.
Impeccable service; great cuts of meat.
We had a great Christmas dinner ! The food was amazing and the Spicy margarita and Martini Were delicious. The restaurant is hidden in a hotel but it’s easy to park(you get buzzed in) we liked the luxurious decor.
Really nice evening! Great food, interesting menu but not too outlandish. Great service. Pretty view.
Excellent service, food was awesome and the ambiance is great.
Great secret in Vail off the beaten path and only held back by the mediocre hotel that houses it. Major surprise, great food, and choice of bar menu makes it a standout in Vail.
Food and service excellent. Will come back for sure
Great menu, great views and fantastic service.
The service was excellent: attentive and informative. Every menu item we had was delicious and beautifully presented. The bone-in filet and the crab cakes were outstanding. I highly recommend the Fitz.
Completely underrated experience. Wonderful setting and food. Very surprised at how amazing it was
Now this is what dinning is all about, from the service to the delightful tasting meal, what a wonderful experience, we plan to return w/ friends before our holiday vacation is over. Thank you to the lovely team that worked our dinner. Mrs. Bentley
The Flat Iron steak is an absolute must!

The service and ambience were outstanding. The food was ok but the menu was expensive and limited.

We were very disappointed in our meal selection (menu) and the meals. We based our decision on going to the Fitz by their listing and description in the Eats Magazine. 2 of the 3 signature dishes that were featured in the magazine were not even listed on the menu. We made our reservations on open table at the last minute, where it indicated there were only 4 tables left. We arrived a little late becuz we couldn’t find their location and had to call the restaurant. When we arrived, there were no other customers there! WTH! Only 4 tables left??? Since choices were limited...we ended up ordering a burger, an impossible burger and their signature ahi tuna appetizer, plus two special drinks. The only food item outstanding were my tater tots! Sooo delicious. But to spend $100 on our meal that was just ok...was definitely not worth it. Maybe it’s better during the winter/spring or in the heart of the summer...but we will never know.
"Dear BeachyCal, I am disappointed to learn that our restaurant did not meet your expectations and would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further. Please give us a call at 800.950.8245 so that we can get more information. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you soon! Laura Kay H. Guest Relations Coordinator
We had a group of 8 for dinner. I highly recommend the ahi tuna nachos, and the mushroom risotto. I can’t wait to return!
Thank you for sharing your experience on OpenTable. We agree that the ahi tuna nachos and mushroom risotto is a must try at The Fitz and we are glad that you enjoyed it. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Vail.
Really enjoyed the outdoor patio seating. The service was top notch !
Fun and very casual. Good food but very low and the view isn’t as spectacular as the pictures. I am sure this place is amazing in the winter.
Dear Benjamin, Thank you for sharing your experience with other OpenTable diners. We appreciate your feedback and sincerely apologize that we fell short of your expectations. Should your travels bring you back to Vail in the future, we would love the opportunity to host you again in hopes of exceeding your expectations. Sincerely, Nicole M Guest Relations
Nice atmosphere, food was amazing and reasonably priced! While celebrating a bachelorette party they brought us all champagne on the house.
Dear JessicaL, We are so pleased to learn that you had a positive experience at the Fitz. We look look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Vail. Sincerely, Nicole M Guest Relations
Poor service. We had a reservation for 7pm and upon arrival asked to be seated at an outdoor table and received a bit of an attitude. After we were seated, we waited for over 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging our table. After bringing this to the attention of the hostess, we were ignored another five minutes before we left. Not the kind of service I would have expected...I guess we will never know about how good the food and cocktails are.
Good food, service slightly on the slow side. Drinks and apps came out at the same time.
Unfortunately the Fitz has some work to do on handling pre Dance crowds. Despite having a reservation and being prepared to order quickly, they were completely overwhelmed. We didn’t see a server for 20 minutes after seating, our order was slow in coming, wrong items for 2 guests and ill prepared. It’s a shame as they have a lovely location close to the Amphitheater.
Was disappointed in the new (to me) configuration of tables. Much too close together in a line along the back. While the Ahi was excellent, rest of our meal was mediocre and too much of it.
Louisianna was an excellent server! I enjoy The Fitz menu and service. Location near GRFA is a plus during the Vail Dance Festival.
We would love to sit on patio some day but made reservations way to late. Our service was excellent! Very friendly atmosphere. Very good food! Will definitely go again
Service and food were great! 3 of us were in a rush to get to Dance Festival and servers were very accommodating! Hamburgers were perfectly done; brioche bun , great.
We loved dining at The Fitz! It is absolutely the best dinner view ever! Our waitress was so accomodating and nice! The food was perfect! The drinks were fabulous! Just the most beautiful location! Perfect ending to our trip to Vail!
Fabulous! Seriously amazing service!
