Six of us in our party - and we all had a great time and a wonderful dinner! John, our waiter, was friendly and most helpful. Among us we ordered several different appetizers and entrees, and all were delicious. Little extras like the 'amuse -bouche' and the plate of tiny pastries at the end put a fun finishing touch on a most enjoyable dining experience. We'll be back.

THe table service was slow but not a problem when catching up with friends. However the food was below acceptable. 2 Eggs Benedict entrees had hardened yolks. Both were returned and the return to table was roughly 25 minutes. The side potatoes were not reheated when dish came back. No refilling service to water or coffee and other meals were poorly plated. There was an apology but no discount or removed items from the check which I think would have been a good gesture. The bill was ~ 70$ for 4 egg dishes and no cocktails. I would not return for brunch.

There was a problem in the kitchen that evening and the food was delayed quite a bit. I was with a good friend so I didn't mind but the people next to us were delayed a lot. They had an event to go to. Luckily we came after the theater. The waiter was most kind and kept apologizing for the delays!!!!

Really neat atmosphere that definitely captures the Scott Fitzgerald era. The decor is beautiful. The food is inventive and delicious- the chipped beef appetizer is fabulous. The signature Gin Rickey is tasty, and their bourbon list nicely comprehensive. Be aware that the restaurant is on the pricey side, but is a great place for a special night out.
John, our server, was professional and knowledgeable. I would say he was one of the best servers we have had anywhere. The food service was very slow though. We did tell them that we were not on a schedule to go anywhere, but the time gap between apps, salads, dinner, etc. was looong.

The Fitz wants to take you back to the Art Deco era of F. Scott Fitzgerald. With a limited menu and extremely slow service, it's going to take some doing.
The room is small and when we were there it was very busy. But a good restaurant should be staffed to handle a full house. Our drinks order was taken immediately. Our starters arrived at a convenient time, but my friend's mushroom soup was way too salty and was sent back. Fortunately my salad was abundant enough for several diners, so we shared the salad. And waited for our entrees.
I ordered Brook trout with fingerling potatoes and was able to substitute Brussels sprouts for the offered kale. My friend had a pork chop with roasted fruit. All was delicious. We were never offered dessert menus or coffee. We did, however, get 3 tiny complimentary cupcakes with a candle to celebrate my birthday.
We were able to take the free shuttle to our concert. That was a definite plus.
But altogether I do not think Scott and Zelda would have approved.

Great service for our group of six lunchmates. Sandwiches were well presented and nicely prepared. Most of us were satisfied. The two diners who ordered a chef salad said that the pepper that had been sprinkled on the salads as a spice/seasoning/garnish made them much less enjoyable than expected. The aleppo peppers (as our waiter informed us) was an addition that the ladies who had the salads did not expect. Both of them are very adverse to anything hot, spicy, or peppery...and therefore usually feel 'safe' when ordering this entree. They felt they should have been told that strong pepper would be part of a chef's salad.

Food was good - waiter - very good, great customer service - free shuttle to the play! I would prefer better options for a brunch menu. More omelette choices or egg dishes.

Ok experience, but a bit over priced for the quality. The Brie appetizer was very tasty. The trout was ok— not very flavorful. The beef tournados entree was a bit better. The chocolate pie was flavorful but the crust was a bit lackluster and tasted over cooked. Service was mid level, as was the ambiance.

This was our first visit since the restaurant changed from Envoy to The Fitz.
Being part of the Ambassador Hotel they offer a shuttle to the theater. We were able to take the shuttle to and from the show. We then enjoyed a leisurely dinner after the show.
We enjoyed our food and our server was great.

Our group of 5 was there for lunch. Hostess and waitress were friendly and helpful in finding a place for our winter coats. Room felt a bit cramped but nice decor. A bit loud a times. The food was excellent. The best part of the visit was the waitress who was knowledgeable about the menu items and ingredients, funny, and prompt. The gentlemen who brought out our dishes was also very courteous and friendly.
Thank you!

Not sure what was going on but we had a 6:30 reservation and even though we could see our table and many other tables were empty they wouldn’t seat us. The hostess kept saying things like, we will seat you in 7 minutes. So, we didn’t get seated until after 7:00. Then, we got our waiter to bring the drinks and appetizers but then we waited another 45 minutes for our entrees. We complained a bit but were never given an explanation as to the big delay. Our hope would be that this is not the norm and we just got there on an off night.

Great spot. Food and drinks were delicious. Waiter was swamped with tables, so service was not on point. Simply understaffed for the crowd that was there. No fault of the wait staff. They did their best

We are frequent Ritz/Fitz patrons, this choice based on the excellent food and the much appreciated shuttle service that allows us to take advantage of numerous downtown performance events.

However, though we understand the menu as seasonal, the frequency of our visits of late left us a bit disappointed as to, for us, has become narrow choices on the menu. But we are appreciative of the excellent food.

The Ritz's dining area has been given more privacy from hotel traffic as a result of the remodel; however, where one is seated can impact the ambiance of the experience. Diners are seated quite close to each other in certain areas. During my last visit, I was seated at a table right next to the corridor/entrance to the dining room, which meant that I was constantly aware of the proximity of entering patrons and waitstaff, coming in and going out. It was admittedly distracting as was the close proximity of the diners next to us, less than a foot away. Not exactly the most intimate setting.

We had brunch following a one night stay, the brunch selections were well prepared and the service was wonderful. It was very busy and there was a computer problem which made the staff run to the bar to complete transaction. Brian, our server was very busy, but he made us feel comfortable and well cared for. The other staff worked as a team bussing tables and providing coffee. Nice team approach.

Jason Gorman has outdone himself! I was reminded of his fabulous meals when he was at Dream Dance and this menu didn’t disappoint. Flavorful, buttery tender steak, creamy risotto with the ever amazing burrata, inventive and delicious Chinese pigs in a blanket...so many wonderful dishes and I can’t wait to return to try more. Jennifer Gorman’s take on the strawberry pretzel bar was out-of-this-world and truly put the cherry on top of the evening’s meal. Not to ignore the other details: the gin rickeys were refreshing and perfectly crafted, the ambiance was exactly right, I loved the music selection and the service was spot on. A winner!

This was my first time at the Fitz; it was so easy to get to from the Kenosha area, we will definitely be back! We came for Brunch and the experience was wonderful. Our servers were all very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu options. There were so many good looking/delicious sounding items on the menu; it was hard to choose! We ordered the Neptune Omelette; it was hot and very delicious; we also had the cinnamon roll and it was to die for, as were the mimosas!

I highly recommend the Fitz for Sunday Brunch - it was a perfect way to start our day and was a great location for a casual meet and greet with a new employee who was in town. I can't wait to come back to check it out for dinner!

I am hoping the restaurant will improve with time. Unfortunately we will not be back.

The remodel, though some what over the top, kept most of the beautiful Art Deco style. Music was fitting to the era.

Our service was so poor and our waitress was not at all knowledgeable about the menu, I will give her the benefit of the doubt and say that it must have been her first evening on the job.

The entrees were expensive and disappointing. The hanger steak was extremely salty. The creamed spinach side with a potato chip topping was runny. The concept was good but the cream and spinish never meshed. The trout was "just okay" with the side of plain white rice. There is nothing on the menu for a picky palate, not even a side salad. There was nothing on the menu my 9 and 15 year old grandkids would even try.

However, the deserts were phenomenal. Homemade by the chef's wife, they were amongst some of the best I have had in the city.

Beautiful room! Lovely ambience! Lovely staff and service. We drove in from Chicago and the evening was well worth the trip!! Even the staff outside the restaurant-the doormen and the hotel staff who had nothing to do with us-(we were not guests at the hotel)- were very personable and welcoming. We appreciated the historical memorabilia that we could enjoy. Even the ladies room was charming!
A thoroughly enjoyable evening!

Had been to this location's previous incarnation (Envoy) on a couple occasions and thought it was an okay place in a terrific, restored Art Deco gem of a hotel (The Ambassador). Now, The Fitz, is a worthy companion to the hotel. The Gatsby/F. Scott Fitzgerald dining space is warm and inviting. We ordered pre-dinner drinks that are classics from the menu (Manhattan, whiskey sour, Old Fashion). Entrees were inventive twists on fish, steak, pasta and duck. Chef Jason Gorman helped deliver entrees and generally worked the room to ensure all was well with diners. All was well.

Dinner was excellent. Chef Jason Gorman has taken a number or the "old classics" and put a modern twist on them. Every dish had a beautiful presentation that complimented the ingredients. The staff took the time to explain each menu option - a great aid in the decision making process. My wife and I highly recommend going to here for dinner.
