The Fish Market - Santa Clara
Considered by many to be one of the most successful seafood restaurants in the San Fransico Bay area, The Fish Market offers guests a multitude of delicious options. The menu consists of everything from fish and chips, pastas, seafood cocktails, as well as a kids' menu. Well-known dishes include Pacific Thresher shark, New Zealand Bluenose seabass, as well as linguine and clams and White Tiger shrimp ceviche. Ensuring that they are able to serve a wide range of customers, The Fish Market also serves some dishes that are not seafood based like boneless chicken breast and New York strip steak. The Fish Market offers guests the option of dining either on the patio or in the dining room. The patio is simply decorated, with flowers. The bright dining room consists of large windows, light wood finishings, wall mounted lights and some potted plants.
This is a mid-range seafood house with good service and good food
I always love visiting the fish market when i'm in santa clara. the staff if friendly, food amazing and that sourdough bread is killer and it keeps coming. I can't remember the gal who is usually the bartender but she makes a great martini.
Delicious and plentiful portions, and great service.
The Fish Market seems to be part of a small chain. The exterior is attractive, and the interior is inviting if a bit crowded. Honestly looks like a typical seafood place. This is the second time I have been here and almost didn’t come back based on 1st visit. 1st visit I had the whole steamed lobster and, as is usual at these types of restaurants, lobster was overcooked and chewy. I keep hoping. Don’t get the lobster. Service was just OK.
Not sure why i came back but decided to give it one more try. This time I ordered grilled sea bass no sauce, Sides of rice and cole slaw. First, service was excellent. This woman worked hard to serve me well. Fish was cooked very nicely. Rice, surprisingly, was tasty and good. Cole slaw bland. Left it on the plate. Lots of people around me celebrating special occasions...I can see why in the ambience. Overall food just ok (though fish was prepared well), nice ambience, good customer service . Would I come back? I would try it again. Would I recommend to friends and family? Maybe with some warnings first. Try it and see for yourself
Spectacular crabcakes, oysters and trout highly recommend you make reservations.
It would have been nicer if our bread was warm instead of cold
We took our granddaughters and a neighbor to the Santa Clara Fish Market on Saturday night. We were seated quickly due to our Open Table reservation. The server was pleasant, and the food was delicious. Our granddaughters enjoyed their meal, and our neighbor said her sushi was perfect. A very enjoyable evening in every way.
Nice selection of fresh seafood. Only one type of Oysters available 9/9/2019. More alcoholic beverages than food selections on the menu... Server was pleasant and attentive. Food delivery took longer than expected. I would not recommend the California rolls.
We were seated promptly - server arrived immediately after we were seated - took our drink order. Fod was outstanding - love that New England Clam Chowder! what can I say, Great food, service.. and extra crispy fries!!!!
Service was great, food delicious!
Fish was excellent. Service was slow. Apparently they were short handed
My daughter and I had a lovely dinner at The Fish Market. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.
Authentic looking restaurant with good prince quality food. Quite noisy but Nice ambiance.
Katherine was a pro. Very nice job handling our group of seven. The sea bass was sublime.
Probably a good place for families but not what I was expecting based on the website. Everything was ok but not exceptional.
Casual dining. Really good food. Meatiest prawns I’ve ever had.
Delicious! Delicious!! Delicious!!
Excellent fish and wonderful location!
had lobster - hard and overcooked, was a little too over priced
Rushed by waitress, not interested in taking care of customer.
Salad.without dressing had to ask for choices after it was served.
Bread served cold.
If you enjoy a great cup
Of clam chowder. Sourdough bread and fresh fish this is the place. Whether it’s lunch or dinner it will always hit the mark.
My favorite is the Cajun shrimp
Charmy is an outstanding server in so many ways! She has a great memory, as always willing to accommodate the things that we need to have.
Drinks came at different times.
Caesar salad was requested to be lightly dressed. Waitress delivered a heavy dressed salad with a notification that she told the chefs that it should be lightly dressed instead of making it right in the first place.
Other than that, the ONO was awesome bad the ambience was lively and festive.
Some food was outstanding and some was just okay. Service took way too long. Once we saw that service would probably take a while, we got our orders ready quick but no one was around to take it. Very friendly staff, though! And appreciate everyone's entrees arriving at the same time.
Wonderful service, Great food, louder ‘n hell.
Excellent place to eat and service is phenomenal!!
Family get together. Good customer service
Yes, I would recommend. The food was well-prepared and portions reasonable. Service was attentive and our questions about the menu and wine answered in a helpful manner. Friendly and welcoming staff.
It was my first time there and I had a great experience and will be coming back again
Used to live near Foster City restaurant and loved going often. We live in San Luis Obispo area and REALLY WISH YOU WOULD OPEN ONE HERE NEAR US!!!!!
I’m always very happy with the food and service here. Especially love their variety of smoked fish!
Fried calamari could be crispier. Server was attentive and polite.
We had a family dinner at the Fish Market. Everyone was pleased with his or her meal, with diners’ ages ranging from 9 to 83. The service was excellent.
Sorry. But the shrimp cocktail was very disappointing as was the clam chowder. The au gratin potatoes were dry and old. The chicken was dry. The wait staff was great. But the food, not so much.
Fish expensive and dry, overcooked.
Noise level high
Havent been in for awhile and its just not worth the cost
It was fantastic food, great service. We're so glad we looked on Trip advisor and found it. This was worth it. I'd be going there a lot if I lived in California
It still one of my favorite seafood places, but this time I was disappointed about my favorite dish "Linguine and Clams". It was more like Linguine and butter. What have you guys done to this dish? It used to be served so well with the right amount of butter and wine.
The worse part was when I told the waitress about my disappointment and showed her how much butter was in the plate. She handled the complaint very poorly.
One more recommendation to the management. How using paper or tablecloth on the tables? It would add class to the place.
Calamari was very tasty and the two sauce options were very good. Fish tacos were good but needed a white cheese instead of cheddar cheese.
the food has becomes less of a value, short of the early bird menu. the service was worst we have experienced, with disinterested waitress who barely served us our meal. we will opt not to dine in but will just get new england clam chowder to go in the future.
