The Fish Market - Santa Clara
Considered by many to be one of the most successful seafood restaurants in the San Fransico Bay area, The Fish Market offers guests a multitude of delicious options. The menu consists of everything from fish and chips, pastas, seafood cocktails, as well as a kids' menu. Well-known dishes include Pacific Thresher shark, New Zealand Bluenose seabass, as well as linguine and clams and White Tiger shrimp ceviche. Ensuring that they are able to serve a wide range of customers, The Fish Market also serves some dishes that are not seafood based like boneless chicken breast and New York strip steak. The Fish Market offers guests the option of dining either on the patio or in the dining room. The patio is simply decorated, with flowers. The bright dining room consists of large windows, light wood finishings, wall mounted lights and some potted plants.
Fried calamari could be crispier. Server was attentive and polite.
We had a family dinner at the Fish Market. Everyone was pleased with his or her meal, with diners’ ages ranging from 9 to 83. The service was excellent.
Sorry. But the shrimp cocktail was very disappointing as was the clam chowder. The au gratin potatoes were dry and old. The chicken was dry. The wait staff was great. But the food, not so much.
Fish expensive and dry, overcooked.
Noise level high
Havent been in for awhile and its just not worth the cost
It was fantastic food, great service. We're so glad we looked on Trip advisor and found it. This was worth it. I'd be going there a lot if I lived in California
It still one of my favorite seafood places, but this time I was disappointed about my favorite dish "Linguine and Clams". It was more like Linguine and butter. What have you guys done to this dish? It used to be served so well with the right amount of butter and wine.
The worse part was when I told the waitress about my disappointment and showed her how much butter was in the plate. She handled the complaint very poorly.
One more recommendation to the management. How using paper or tablecloth on the tables? It would add class to the place.
Calamari was very tasty and the two sauce options were very good. Fish tacos were good but needed a white cheese instead of cheddar cheese.
the food has becomes less of a value, short of the early bird menu. the service was worst we have experienced, with disinterested waitress who barely served us our meal. we will opt not to dine in but will just get new england clam chowder to go in the future.
I love the Fish Market. The Santa Clara site is my “go to”. When I made my reservation through Open Table this time I noted that I was gluten-free. The host gave me a gluten-free menu to look over while they prepare at our table. It’s easy to find gluten-free foods at the Fish market, but it was really nice to have it noted from the reservation.
Staff are friendly, most dishes are reasonably priced, but noisy during peak times. Knowing that, we still enjoy going here. Would recommend to everyone who likes seafood dishes!!
Our server was amazing! Food was great!
Lovely atmosphere, great food, awesome selection! We came with 8 people and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Everybody ordered something different from the menu and everybody loved their food.
AWESOME SEWRVICE -- THE BEST IN A LONG TIME
MY GO TO FISH PLACE
I had the appetizer Mesquite grilled shrimp as my lunch entree. That with the wonderful bread provided was perfect and delicious.
I've enjoyed eating here for years and always order the skewered shrimp with bacon, fishwife rice and tomatoes and am always very pleased. Others in our party had salmon and rock fish. Our waitress was as nice as could be and didn't rush us in any way. I love I can make reservations there now through Open Table, although we had to wait a bit when we got there. Plenty of empty seats, but I think they were short handed. Also, they were out of their fabulous bread so an order of garlic bread was complimentary.
Swordfish portion was small. Otherwise, everything else was good.
Our server, Charming, was great! Food was good. Noise level was high.
We really like the fish market. On this stay, the service was particularly good -- our waitress kept the bread coming, and even answered a question about the menu with some good insider info (basically, a special listed as an entree was a smaller portion than we would have wanted).
And, the kids enjoyed their meals too!
I saw some pretty sketchy reviews and was a little hesitant about coming here. Having had good experiences in the past we decided to try it again. Not disappointed in the least! We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation, the staff was wonderful and attentive, the food delicious (4 of us each tried something different and tasted the rest), and the bill was definitely reasonable. This has been our go-to restaurant when in the area and so glad it will remain so!
The food has always been great here and the service was exceptional with all the wine recommendations
the server had too much to handle, but was nice and courteous. the food was mediocre at best, and it was priced as if it was high end. My friends shrimp and crab cocktail had shrimp smaller than popcorn shrimp. My wife's linguine and clams had mushy pasta. I ordered a large chiopinno for $35 it had about the same amount of seafood as the smaller size but was just loaded with watery marinara and almost no crab. This restaraunt has ok to poor food and too high prices for what it is. So i would not go back there or recommend it.
My family went to The Fish Market for Mother's Day knowing it would be packed, and it was. We arrived 15 minutes early and it was standing room only but the staff brought out an extra chair for my mom who is on oxygen and can't stand for long periods. When our table was called right on time, someone tried to steal it by saying it was me, but the staff remembered who I was and came to find me. Our server was friendly and helpful, and all of our drinks and food came to us with perfect timing. Even though the place was bursting at the seams, everything was organized and pleasant. The food was excellent. When we left my mother and I each were given a beautiful pink rose. We all enjoyed the whole experience.
My son took me to the Fish Market for Mother's Day. The food was very good and so were the drinks. The only downside was the incredible loudness of the restaurant. This is a place that needs to do SOMETHING to modulate the noisiness, because you cannot have a conversation without repeating yourself over and over and over.
We had confirmed reservation for 2:15, we checked in at 2:10, we got the table at 3:00
We were in a party of 8 and waited over an hour for our food. The waitress didn't ask us even once if we needed drink refills, the food was bad (i.e. mushy, not flavorful and/or too salty), and when our food did come, it came at different times. Our food came two at a time so the first two people who got their food were already done eating before the last two people got their food. I've never been to a restaurant before where our food has come out at different times. In addition, when this was mentioned to the waitress she just said, sorry, that's just the way it is. Would not ever go back.
They weren't ready at 2pm to serve us the Mother's Day special, but did attempt to help us. The service was very good, the food was not what we usually order and wasn't up to the level we have come to expect from The Fish Market. We will continue to eat there as their food has always been good in the past.
Everything was fantastic. Service was outstanding.
Our server was great, food was mediocre (overdone for my dinner partner) and the bathroom was disgusting. Not going back.
Had lunch with our Admins for Admins Professional Day. The service was great and the food, as always is consistent and good. FIsh Market is always a great place to go for lunch or dinner.
Very busy and loud, but food was good. We ordered the King Crab legs and the meat cake out of the shell very easily. Casual atmosphere.
Food was ok ,, Service was great .. Tables was missing Silverware
I am a Lyft driver and I have taken many passengers to The Fish Market. I got feedback that is was excellent. I was a little disappointed, the food was good and customer service was good. The pricing however did not match on what I ate. I just feel that it was overpriced, I could have gone to another seafood restaurant and paid less for what I got. I wanted to try and experience your restaurant and I did, but honestly I would not go back. Not because of the food or customer service but the price.
Though I had asked if my party had been seated, I waited for fifteen minutes and then they saw me being escorted to a different table to wait for them. They had been seated on arrival, just before I came in and asked.
One of my favorite places to eat.
A crab cocktail should be fresh. I could tell it was attempted to be thawed before serving it, but it had ice crystals and not flavor. We sent it back, tried a prawn cocktail but it too want fresh.
Our waitress was great, it was the food. Too bad, Fish Market has been good before.
Need more help at the seafood bar. Very long wait and no fault of the waiter behind the bar.
Family lunch. Acoustics are such that it’s very noisy with full crowd at lunchtime. Parking is a challenge due to popularity of the restaurant.
Suggest you do not park in Chase Bank parking area adjacent to restaurant as they are very unfriendly with people who park in one of their fifty parking spots even though lunchtime we never saw more than eight cars using the lot for bank business. We are told they regularly have cars towed during lunch hour.
This very peaceful place with the large seafood menu.
Very tasty. Very friendly staff.
Service was good, cocktail (old fashioned) was very poorly made, I nearly sent it back. Appetizer (shrimp with a spicy guacamole type sauce) was excellent. Entree fish was just so-so....presentation poor, size small, cooking poor (was supposed to be blackened) but was soggy and low on taste. I now remember why I have not been here for so many years. Nothing memorable except the cheerful and helpful attitude of our server.
