   Very reliable food and service. Had the fish and chips (cod) which were prepared perfectly. Other diner had scallops with linguine. This isn't offered on the menu - usually with shrimp. But asked the server and she was very agreeable. Scallops were nicely prepared and it was a generous serving. The restaurant was busy and very noisy. But it is a neighborhood family spot and everyone seemed to be having a fine time. Recommend for fresh seafood.

   The restaurant was to noisy We could not hear each other talk The chairs were solid wood and very uncomfortable for me We left early because of poor service Too much noise and being very uncomfortable In the wooden chair

   I ran restaurants extremely similar to this in Hawaii for many years. The fishmarket apparently has slipped. At least in San Mateo. Play presentations and cooking executions were not done very well. My swordfish was way overcooked, my wife’s shrimp it was overcooked and the risotto Was served on a plate in a pile! With so many choices on the menu one would think he would handle everything with the utmost care. I hope this was just on my experience. I will say that our steam clams were very good but there was not enough butter in the broth.

   This was my first time dining at The Fish Market, and it will certainly be the last. I ordered grilled fish, which was so overcooked it was dry, and a side of broccoli, which was so overcooked it was limp. My vodka and tonic was all soda water, and the chardonnay by the glass had turned. Our waitress was completely disinterested in discussing menu options, and seemed annoyed during every interaction. I don't ever write bad reviews, but this experience really deserved one.

   Had my birthday luncheon here and it was nice and quiet at 11:30. Later on more customers came in but it was never too loud when we were there. I had the lite eaters combo skewer with au gratin potatoes and cherry tomatoes. Super yummy!!! and just the right portions for me. Mom and auntie liked the fish and chips. The waiter did everything flawlessly- kitchen forgot my mom’s veggie substitution but she didn’t mention to waiter because there was plenty of food without it. They brought a most fabulous and delicious birthday dessert, warm butterscotch cake with vanilla ice cream, and enough forks for us to all share it! 😄 omg I want that recipe!!

   Our reservation was for 7:15 and when we arrived we had to wait 20 min to be seated. After they seated us we didn’t even see our server for 20 min and she was extremely rude and. It took another 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them. So after an he of being there she finally brought us our drinks and then we ordered appetizers which took another 25 min to get and they didn’t even come out at the same time. She finally took our order and that took another 30 min to get and in between this whole time she didn’t come to check in on us one time. At one point another server starter noticing it and came over and asked us if we needed anything. Food finally came and it was really good but the service killed it. It was our first time there and We won’t be returning.

   What was supposed to be a relaxing great dinner for my mother-in-law‘s birthday turned into a huge disappointment for both of us. I ordered shrimp risotto and my mother-in-law ordered a crab Louie salad , after waiting almost an hour to get our food The waiter finally brought my mother-in-law‘s crab Louie to the table with a side salad for myself and said that the kitchen was running behind and asked if I’d like something else that would be quick to come to our table like fish and chips and I said no I would like to wait for the risotto and he said that they were having an issue with the risotto and offered me a crab Louie salad. I then waited another 20 minutes just to get a salad by then my mother-in-law was done with her meal I was really bummed and disappointed that I did not get risotto ,while waiting for our bill the table next to us had ordered risotto as well and was told the same story, after waiting 45min for her meal.
