The Fig is a casual neighbourhood restaurant, serving small plates from around the world. Expect a cosy, low lit interior, friendly staff and flavourful, unstuffy food; made with love.
We always have plenty for everyone; including vegan and gluten free dishes.
Located right in the centre of Rye, a short drive from camber sands.
We are open for Brunch, Lunch and dinner.
Brunch and lunch walk ins only, bookings for dinner.

Lovely food, and not what you'd cook at home. A bit noisy, but it was Friday night I suppose.

Fantastic flavours and quality of food. Staff are great. Obviously it’s a bit more expensive but in line with other quality restaurants in Rye. Would recommend and have been there a few times

Pleasant but slightly unusual experience The flavours in the dishes were well thought out and enjoyable, and the cocktails were lovely. My personal favourite was the spring greens and gnocchi dishes were delicious. However, the service, while well-intentioned, felt a little overbearing at times. We found it hard to fully relax, as there seemed to be a constant rearranging of items on our table, and some gestures like placing a napkin on my lap felt a bit too formal and unexpected. A more relaxed approach might have helped us feel more at ease.

We had an absolutely beautiful meal at the Fig. Excellent food, delicious cocktails, friendly and highly amenable staff. Enjoyed it very much! We will come again

Excellent all round. Very friendly and efficient staff, a buzz without being too noisy and, most of all, superb dishes. Really enjoyed it.

This was our second visit to Fig, and it was just as exceptional as the first. The restaurant has a lovely, intimate atmosphere—small enough that you can tell real care and attention goes into each dish leaving the kitchen. My partner and I received the warmest of welcomes from the wonderful team, all of whom are an absolute credit to the restaurant. We practically ordered one of everything on the menu, and every single dish was outstanding. We began with a tuna ceviche bursting with flavour and freshness, followed by a beautifully balanced beetroot salad, warm goat’s cheese with figs and prosciutto, and a bowl of wild mushroom gnocchi I could have eaten several times over. More dishes followed, and just when we thought we couldn’t possibly manage another bite, a glorious rhubarb pavlova arrived—light, sweet, and utterly irresistible. It’s safe to say we cancelled our evening plans and headed straight back to the hotel for a well-earned lie-down. We’ve not stopped talking about our meal since and can’t wait to return. Dinner at Fig might just make you want to move to Rye.

Food was good although the menu was a little narrow, had a Mexican feel to the theme. Pork, tuna, chicken and amd some veggie options. The cauliflower tikka was Ok and my wife enjoyed the aubergine taco. Service was poor, seating us next to a loud, large table was unnecessary as the place was still fairly empty, and we were going to leave after feeling slightly underwhelmed with the menu and the noise. Unfortunately as we had booked the server told us we would be charged a cancellation fee if we left - so we ordered some drinks - which we were instantlyrefused unless we ordered food. We chose something the cauliflower tikka - and a spicy margarita and a wine. I heard a comment about “1 dish?!” from the pass… The drinks arrived and the way the evening was going to be was now clear. So much salt on the glass it was just too much and also not the spicy margarita ordered. It was changed without much fuss and we ordered another dish, the tacos and listened to the trials and tribulations of a very boring American family conversation from the table of 10 we were sat next to. When I asked for the bill and tried to settle in cash I was told this wasn’t possible. I insisted it should be and the server checked and they made an “allowance “ for me…. But wouldn’t be able to give change. No problem, I reduced the discretionary service charge and handed them the correct money. All of this was done with the customer service you’d expect from a petrol station, should you have filled up and forgotten your wallet. Poor show and disappointing customer experience. Completely eclipsed the fact there was some pretty interesting food on offer. Good luck finding some better staff to help improve your offering. Probably best to avoid as there are better places, with decent service a short stroll away.

Dear Paul Budd, We are so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time with us, just to explain a few points you made - OpenTable automatically assigns tables for people, if you had asked to move, we would of course have moved you, no problem at all. The dinner menu is up on our website for people to see, so customers can look to see if they like it before they arrive. Also on the website and menu it states we are card payments only. Regarding the Alcohol and no food comment - that is totally out of our hands I'm afraid, we have stipulations on our licence as a restaurant which means we are legally not allowed to serve alcohol without food. Great restaurant where you order “small plates”. We were advised to order 4 or 5. The plates of food are quite large and are absolutely delicious. There is a good variety of dishes to cover all tastes, the service was really good. All in all highly recommended
