The Fig & The Judge
Was here in April 2019 with coworkers and we loved it. Returned with my husband mid-May, wanted him to try the delicious fig, goat cheese and prosciutto flat bread I had the first time. The menu was totally different, nothing with figs even though it’s in their name! (I know that is on me for not checking the menu before going.) I ordered the new flat bread which was burnt on the bottom, my husband got the banh mi and said it was okay. The service was very slow even though the restaurant was only 1/4 full. I was almost done by the time my husband got his food. They offered me a bowl of chowder on the house but by that time I was full! And there is a mandatory 20% service charge added so we had to pay that even though the service was lousy. If they bring back the old menu I might give it another try because I really did enjoy it the first time. But otherwise I am marking it off my list of go-to lunch spots.
A little spendy, but not out of line with typical downtown Seattle restaurants. Not a lot of items on the menu, but varied enough for everyone to find something they like. The servers are very nice. The sign is small and few people appear to know about this restaurant, and, given that you have to go into the Renaissance Hotel and up the escalator to reach it, it is consequently rarely crowded.
Really wanted to give a good review as the food was pretty good. Service was just very slow and inconsistent, even with a 1/2 full restaurant. Wait staff said they were slowed by the bar downstairs that was very busy.
The staff were friendly and attentive. It was great that we could get a last minute table for 9 on a holiday. Got invited to join their holiday party on the 28th floor at half price cover charge and it included dessert. Steak was a little over cooked but not terribly so (I ordered medium rare and it was slightly well of medium) but the soup was great and the sides were good. Menu is a little limited but everyone found something they wanted.
Lunch was good!
Had the nicoise salad and was very underwhelmed. The tuna was over cooked. Salad was loaded with an herb or vegetable I couldn’t identify but tasted like capers. All in all not very good.
Thanksgiving was wonderful. Great food, friendly service, made us feel comfortable and welcome. Waitstaff could use a little more training on some of the finer points of fine dining service, but given that this was a holiday and they were there with smiles on, we enjoyed everything.
My friend and I went for a Thanksgiving lunch, and had so much fun! We loved the service and the food was really delicious! We loved the amount of options we had, and the presentation of each late as well. From the moment we walked in, we were treated really well and had such a pleasant experience!
It's like Applebee's with exceptional wait staff. I'm not sure the kitchen has much besides a microwave and intermittently functional freezer to get that consistent burn on the ice cream.
Our waiter, Jared was great! We wanted to surprise one in our group with a birthday cupcake and he was super helpful in getting that done. He also did great with our group of 8 noisy ladies. Super fun, knowledgeable about the menu and made our night! The food was also delicious and came out in a timely manner.
Quality of meat was poor for not only my steak but also with someone else in my group. Too much grease and salt on fries, not able to eat them! Waiter did not inquire about why no one was really eating the food.
The Fig and the Judge was a pleasant surprise! The server, Jared, was great - prompt, efficient, knowledgeable. The food was quite good - especially the beet and squash salad and the Vietnamese crepe!
Went for lunch during Restaurant Week. Decent value for the price overall, though my chicken/bacon panini was very light on the meat. Great steak fries. Attentive service. Noise level very high, not surprising with all the hard surfaces I guess, but they could look into some sound-dampening so it feels less cafeteria and more quiet refuge.
The venue was fine and the service was prompt.
My steak was cooked more medium than my requested medium rare and had had gristle, which I hate.
My husband said that his pasta with crab was "ok".
So I'd give this a "C". Not bad but nothing special.
Me and my husband came here for restaurant week. The beet and squash salad was delicious. We got the steak and fries entree. The steak was pretty tough and chewy with little flavor. The fries had great seasoning but were very oily and on the verge of soggy. The dessert was very good I got the lava cake. Overall good meal but not great. The best parts were the appetizer and dessert but would not spend $33 on this trio again. Great service the gentleman that served us was very polite.
The restaurant was good, but there are better nearby. The menu was a little limited. The grilled chicken on the salad was shredded and dry and my companion’s steak was a little overdone. It was still a nice evening, the price reasonable, and the service excellent.
Had a wonderful meal during Seattle Restaurant Week. We especially liked the Vietnamese crepe and beet and squash salad. Service was great and we loved being close to the 5th since we went to a play after dinner.
It was a weekend getaway with my boyfriend, flight was delayed and forgot my cell phone at the hotel we had our reservations...all that stress disappeared when we entered the restaurant. Our server, Jack was awesome and his recommendations did not disappoint. First time diners and everything we had was yummy!!! The Salmon Chowder, Fish & Chips and the Cobb Salad. It was a great start to our vacation. I would highly recommend to check this place out!!!
We went for Restaurant Week. The choices were good, food was very good, and nice presentation. The tomato soup was thick and flavorfull, the sirloin was prepared perfectly, however alittle tough. Some of the best French fries I’ve ever had, and the carrot cake delicious.
I did not like the ambience at all. There were 4 or 5 booths, and the rest were tables scattered about the big, open room. For that reason, I will not be anxious to return.
We were there for dinner. The lights were very bright and the decor sparse giving it the feeling of a cafeteria. I’m sure that has been corrected by now. On the good side, salmon was fantastic!
Awfully slow service!!! And they are understaffed
Dirty glass. Chunks of food and other stuff in the water glass. Understaffed and took forever to get drink refills and service. Food was decent when we got it but did not make up for the other issues.
This restaurant was a big disappointment. It is basically a hotel restaurant. It's on the 2nd floor of a Seattle hotel and had very few people dining, in fact we were the only table of 4 for the first 1/2 hour. Our waiter was fine. We asked about the fun name of the restaurant and we were told that it's named because they serve food with figs and they won't judge what you eat. The dinner menu was very limited and did not include any appetizers. The french bread was warmed in the microwave. The cocktails were good. The entrees were alright, but nothing special. The location close to the 5th Ave Theatre is appealing, but there are many other good choices of restaurants nearby. I would not dine here again, nor would I recommend it.
I had a business lunch here. The service was good and the cobb salad was something I would order again.
This is becoming a 'go to place' near our office and appreciate a place with great food, service and ambience.
Usually not a big fan of hotel restaurants, but this one was great. Although the menu was rather limited, both of our entrees were exceptional. A very pleasant experience, and our waiter, Drew, was very attentive and informative. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Great place to celebrate and gather. The Fig & The Judge Burger, Pastrami Reuben and Portabella Panini were all delicious and the presentation outstanding. Our server was cheerful and made great suggestions. they use a lot of local ingredients so they definitely help to support our Pacific NW economy.
Our server was fast tastic!!! Food was great . Each of 3 entrees were amazing!

They’re disorganized, as of April ‘18, but if you let that go, you’ll have a helluva time!
The space is gorgeous and so light-filled and inviting that you won’t care that it overlooks the Interstate Highway. The cocktails are expertly made; they’re not just flavored alcoholic water, you can taste the components and they deserve to be called “craft” cocktails.
And, the food. Did I mention that they’re disorganized? Our entrees came out while we were in mid-cocktail, but they were outstanding by any standard.
We’re locals, and we’ll be back. If you’re going to the 5th Avenue Theatre, this place is two blocks away and it’s the best dinner around!
The food was reallllly delicious but the service was painfully slow. It took ~40 minutes for our first course to come out, which consisted of a soup and a salad. The staff was incredibly nice, but we thought we were popping in for a quick bite off their Restaurant Week menu and it turned into 2ish hours.
Restaurant Week menu wasn't the best value - I think I only saved $2 off the 3 courses I got, but it was still not a bad value. Decent wine list (re: prices) for someone who doesn't know much about wine. Kind of wonky that they have to go down the escalator to the hotel bar to get your drinks though.
Went for Seattle Restaurant Week. Great service and food. The ambiance was modern farmhouse, very clean lines and bright throughout. I will go back.

Food and service were really good at this restaurant. It had a nice open and bright ambience with lots of natural light. They also have magazines and newspapers available to read, which is nice if you're eating alone. The booth we sat in was very comfortable and lent itself well to having a relaxing lunch conversation. The menu had some nice items on it and I must say that the piece of carrot cake I got was particularly delicious and a generous size. The validated parking in their underground garage made it very convenient to eat there. The only negative I'd like to mention is that the iced tea was $5 and I think that is way overpriced. Maybe $3 but I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew it was so expensive. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend this restaurant.
They charged 20% for service. Too high, especially for lunch.
The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived for lunch and was about half full when we left. Our waiter was a little scattered, joking twice that he hoped our first course came out first. I also ran out of water one time.
I had the specialty spinach salad. It was delicious. The figs and cranberries made it sweet and tart. The nuts gave it a good crunch. The feta added creaminess and depth. The bacon was a little too crisp, but otherwise balanced the salad with saltiness. I didn't taste the sherry in the vinegarette, which was a good thing. The salad was really, really good.
The fish and chips had giant, thick pieces of fish in a flaky, crispy batter. They were cooked perfectly. I would go back just for the fish. The fish was served with delicious cole slaw and fries. The fries were the hand-cut potato variety, sized between a standard fry and a steak fry. They were okay.
If I were in the area around lunch, I would try The Fig and the Judge again.
Fabulous new restaurant. Although a hotel restaurant, it is filled with big windows and light. The food was very good and the service excellent.
Could tell the waitstaff was a bit inexperienced and hadn’t found their groove yet but they were pleasant and polite. Would come back
