The Ferry Inn is a serendipitous country public house with welcoming staff, character rooms, candlelight, open fires, real ales, popular foods and fantastic sunsets.

A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank.

Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery.

To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.

Bus 293 by Kent Coach Tours, Mon & Fri leaves Tenterden Town Hall at 10.30am. Return journey leaves Ferry Inn at 13.20pm. Ask Graham the driver to drop you off at the Ferry Inn and to stop and collect you on the way back. Adult return journey is £4.50, Children half-price.

I Have not visited the Ferry for a few years and was delighted to see the extension and impressive kitchen. The waitress was excellent and the menu extensive,will be visiting again soon!

Was very disappointed. Barmaid needs to greet customers with a smile. Asked us what we wanted to drink then told us to go to the dining room, if we hadn’t gone to the furthest part we wouldn’t have seen our reserved table! I ordered the haddock and chips! Very disappointing! Menu says cooked in beef dripping, I worked in a fish and chip shop that used beef dripping and our batter and chips were crispy! I don’t know how to describe the fish batter, tasteless and limp! Never had batter like that before. My husband had the meat pie which didn’t look home made and the mash potato was like a slump! Disappointing as it was my husbands birthday and rather spoilt it!

Food excellent always but bottles of wine so expensive. Would appreciate quality cheaper wine choice! What's the mark up! Lovely location.

Lovely atmosphere, great drink selection and the food was top notch, excellent meat! Love that the veg come as part of the roast.. as opposed to most pubs that charge extra! Bonus points for the extra jug of gravy! Lovely staff to boot.

Been here many times & always love the experience, beautiful surroundings, a really nice restaurant, & nice atmosphere & layout, dog friendly, service was excellent & didn’t have to wait to long & the food was amazing, best roast dinner had in a very long time, looking forward to returning.

Great place to relax with a drink or enjoy a good meal. Ideal venue to meet with Family & friends, with both plenty of indoor and garden seating. We have visited here many times and the ambiance, service and food is always excellent.

Wonderful evening. Great food- we had the marinated pork chop, the Bouillabaisse and the burger which was lovely especially as it was served in a tortilla wrap rather than a stodgy bun. For pudding we shared a gooseberry fool and an incredible sticky toffee pudding. The food was delicious, the service was swift and friendly and the ambiance just lovely. We took our dogs as well which was a bonus. Would highly recommend.

We dined in the recently opened extension to the restaurant. Although new, great stock had been put into ensuring it fitted perfectly with the old inn. The service and food were great.

Very warm welcome to the venue which was modestly busy with early evening patrons. The waiting staff were very helpful and were aware of my guests GF needs. The food menu was substantial with something for everyone. We ordered starters, mains with sides and two alcoholic drinks which came to about £100 in total. The food was hearty, very tasty and well cooked. The table staff were attentive but not intrusive and the views across farmland at the rear of the property were lovely. We will certainly return next time we are in the area.
