Australian
Nestled in the heart of Mosman, a green oasis with sweeping views of Sydney Harbour connects urbanites to their natural surrounds aloft a rooftop. Featured are drinks with edible touches from rooftop gardens which encircle the rosé bar and gin room, food infused with subtle flavours from the josper wood oven; with service reflecting a calm, intimate and welcoming escape from the city. Head Chefs Gavin Gray and Mitchell Davis bring a fresh, modern Australian menu to The Fernery. Designed to share, enjoy a flavorsome selection of locally sourced produce cooked on a traditional josper wood-burning grill. Combine this with an array of herbs picked daily from the outdoor kitchen garden where Chefs Gavin and Mitchell experiment with flavours and regularly incorporate seasonal touches to the menu.

We enjoyed a lovely evening at The Fernery with our friends. The craft beers and wine on tap were great and the food was really tasty. Attentive and pleasant staff just added to our positive experience. We will definitely be back in the warmer months when we can enjoy the outdoor seating and view.

Such a cute venue! The service was friendly though a little slow considering that the place was almost empty! Food was very good and coffees were great. I’ll definitely come back, especially to try lunch or dinner

The place was great I loved the decor. I didn’t realise it was such a family venue though which kind of ruined date night it was full of families and their children! It looks like an up market bar from the website didn’t expect it to be full of kids!

Loved it. The perfect place to get together with family for a brunch for my wife's birthday. There were 12 of us. Because we got there quite early (10:30am) the kids could run around on the outside balconies as there weren't many people around to disturb. Had a great brunch and it was a really lovely day. The place is huge!

Shame about the service because the venue is lovely and overall, has a good vibe.

The food was ok but I was disappointed when we ordered the charred bread. There’s charred and then there’s burnt; and when we asked the waitress, she said that was normal. 5 minutes later the table next to us ordered the same and their was definitely different to our “charred” flatbread.

Given it was Anzac Day, understand the busy period but the place wasn’t even full and the staff were flustered. There were two helpful waiters but the others looked frazzled and just didn’t deliver to what we would have expected for such a venue.

Hopefully you take the service feedback and turn it around.

Unfortunately our booking 4301 for 4 people at 12 noon Saturday 20th April was not in the book. The waiter then told us it had been recorded as Friday 19th April. If the restaurant had been heavily booked, this would have been embarrassing.

I also thought the Pinot Noir by the glass was exceedingly expensive. I had 2 glasses, and it was my fault I did not check the price first off. But even at the Pymble Golf Club, Pinot Noir by the glass is $9.00. At the Fernery is was double that price.

But the beef I ordered was cooked to perfection, but pricey.

All best

We visited on Good Friday for family lunch. The venue is absolutely lovely and beautiful design, we sat inside and was very comfortable seating. The food was delicious with yummy flavours and something on the menu that suited everyone. The only thing that let us down was the service, once we had ordered we never saw the waiter again unless we flagged one down or went up to the bar to ask for someone, paying the bill took about 15 mins. They took a couple of drinks off which was a nice gesture. Next time if its a nice day it would be fun to sit outside. Would recommend .

No, certainly not for breakfast. I eat here regularly in the evening with a group of friends and have nothing but praise for the food, staff and ambience. My guest and I ordered the breakfast burger which was soggy, the bacon was barely cooked as was the sausage which was inedible and repeated no us all day. The coffee was luke warm. All in all a bad experience which we will not repeat. I decided to forgo my usual cafe, Cafe Mosman, to try the Fernery and this was a big mistake. We continued on to Cafe Mosman for another coffee.

Table service not good, no straw in cocktail, no water left on the table, no salt and pepper. Bread was stale with vanilla butter very strange.

After telling waiter we didn’t like the vanilla butter he then offered to bring us the same again?

Expected more to be honest

We enjoyed our meal. Can never understand why restaurants insist on loud music to make conversation more difficult. It suits the staff and young customers who are looking at their phones but not older customers who enjoy talking.

Nice setting for a drink. Gnocchi was disgusting (unfortunately 3/8 of our diners ordered it for their mains) and food lacking flavour. It’s a shame because the wine was beautiful and the setting is lovely.

I booked a table for 8 people but then phoned and changed it to 9. They gave us a table with no view and it was only set for 8. The Menu has changed from the menu on this site and I had a disappointed child who was looking forward to the buttermilk fried chicken burger. The staff forgot to clear our table between courses and the candle I had requested with dessert arrived not lit. We still had a nice evening but I won’t be returning with a large group again.

Yes I would. Food was better than expected but I wouldn't exactly say value for money. Service was great except that we waited for our food for close to an hour. And when I wanted the waitress to check whether the food I am having had soft cheeses like ricotta cheese, she almost refused to check with the kitchen. I had to ask 3 times - First instance her reply was there shouldn't be any cheese and it's zuchini flowers they shouldn't have any cheese in it. The second and third time when I said it tastes like cheese in it, she was like yea probably ricotta cheese then!!! I kept repeating to her, please help me check with the chef but she never came back to let me know and I had to ask did you check with the chef and she just said it shouldn't be anything. I was abit shocked with that experience because I am clearly saying I am pregnant and I have dietary restrictions but felt abit helpless and couldn't eat the zuchini flowers because I didn't know what I was eating.

A lovely meal, but we would have appreciated knowing the restaurant is located inside an RSL club. There was no mention of this when we booked and because we live within 5km, we had to join the club to go to the Fenery.
Food was great, wonderful choices and would suit most people. Prices match a restaurant though, not an RSL where you “go to the counter” to order food and drinks ;)

Really love this place. The food is amazing and the decor is modern, stylish, light and bright. Great place to meet up with friends for an affordable meal. I can’t emphasise enough how good the food is here. I love the chicken cooked in the Josper and the ice cream dome is to die for. Friends had the prawn pasta and they raved about it.

What a surprise to find this delightful light and airy dining space on the top of Mosman RSL. There are lots of enclosed small areas so that noise is minimal and there is a good space between tables. I really enjoyed the barramundi dish and we shared a tasty beetroot dip. The service was friendly.
