The Fernery Mosman
The service could be a little more attentive, however the fit out, ambience and food is great. Lots of different area ls to enjoy
I have eaten here at least 10 times so I think I have good cause to be negative about where this restaurant has gone too. The food here when first opened was outstanding, fascinating menu, beautiful to look at and eat. Gradually the menu has shortened, cheaper options have appeared and less staff. The latest hostess is downright not interested, she just points at your table and is never seen again.
Vegetables are often delivered after you finish your meal, sometimes entrees and mains arrive together.
Is it new chef, high staff turnover, i dont know?
I have had the fillet steak 5 times, the steak itself is always perfect, but the chef has got lazy.
instead of chips in duck fat, and a carefully plated salad of mini herbs, it now comes with a cos lettuce thats been cut in 4, and half a baked potato !. seriously anything i cook midweek is more intracate than this. If you want a drink, best get it yourself, the staff they do have are too busy.
Yes, the place is still fully booked, but i wonder for how long, i definately will return to the bottom floor to eat, $15 meals cooked better than slapdash food at $35 upstairs.
I would highly recommend The Fernery Mosman whether it be a couple or a huge 30 plus people event! The team are exceptional - excellent service every single time, as is the Food!!! Sensational. Amazing atmosphere and views! We were there for Fathers' Day Lunch and there was lovely live music playing - incredible! I had my dads' 90th Birthday celebration as an event in the Balmoral Room in May, and the team looked after us so well! Thanks to Holly for coordinating everything, and Adam and Cameron and all the drinks, food and wait staff. Meals were absolutely incredible every single time, and great coffee too. I just can't recommend The Fernery enough whether a meal for two, drinks with friends, or full function/event. Thanks to you all again Adam, Holly, Cameron and the team! :)
We booked our table a month in advance for my daughters birthday. We brought a cake earlier in the day so the staff knew it was a celebration and we had booked for 12 people and we were told an extra $25 for cake service which was fine by us.
On arrival we were directed out of the restaurant to an open area where a makeshift table had been set up. It was an open area with no atmosphere and very noisy. We sat down and no wait staff arrived or menus.
I got up to check and was told we were in the self serve area. I was horrified and asked to move which they did but i was very disappointed by the female staff member that took our cake earlier in the day then proceeded to make us up at table in the self serve area like it was just a walk in booking. The female staff member ignored us for the rest of the night. Gave no apology and basically couldn’t give a stuff.
Once in the restaurant the staff were excellent and so was the lovely man who made up a table for us in the restaurant area when I told them that was not what we had booked.
I would not go here again based on this experience.
Our table was in a very dark position and the lights couldn’t be adjusted. We were offered another candle which overall didn’t make any difference.
The head waiter/manager was perhaps dressed a little too casual we thought he was a dining patron.
Service was so poor. The staff behind the bar seemed like we were bothering them by ordering anything. The only time they were polite and nice to us was after we paid and didn’t leave a tip. The food was not very good.
The food was excellent ! The drinks were also great , when they arrived ! In fact our pre dinner drinks arrived after our first course !! Then we had to chase up the disappearing wait staff to order some wine ! It wasn’t busy with only 4 tables of 2-4 people. Won’t be rushing back !
Will definitely be back. The $12 espresso martinis were awesome, the pumpkin salad was great and the staff were super friendly.
We picked a quiet night due to extreme cold weather . Less crowd made for a high quality evening where noise floor was minimum. What we took home from the experience was the high quality service from all the staff and their friendly nature. Food is also v good quality . We'll be back
Loved the desert, unfortunately the roast was over cooked and service was not the best. We loved the decor and set up of the restaurant!
We enjoyed a lovely evening at The Fernery with our friends. The craft beers and wine on tap were great and the food was really tasty. Attentive and pleasant staff just added to our positive experience. We will definitely be back in the warmer months when we can enjoy the outdoor seating and view.
Such a cute venue! The service was friendly though a little slow considering that the place was almost empty! Food was very good and coffees were great. I’ll definitely come back, especially to try lunch or dinner
Food was very good. Wine too expensive. I thought the service was abit slow View were wonderful.
Food cooked well with good wine list. Our table was too small which felt a bit crowded . Friendly staff .
Beautiful food & decor. Stunning view & super easy way to book a table. Will return in the summer to enjoy the outdoor part of the Fernery.
The place was great I loved the decor. I didn’t realise it was such a family venue though which kind of ruined date night it was full of families and their children! It looks like an up market bar from the website didn’t expect it to be full of kids!
Always good consistent food and service. Well done guys.
Maybe dim the lights a bit!
Wonderful afternoon at The Fernery. Looking forward to returning.
Great for a family lunch for 11. Lovely food and ambience
Loved it. The perfect place to get together with family for a brunch for my wife's birthday. There were 12 of us. Because we got there quite early (10:30am) the kids could run around on the outside balconies as there weren't many people around to disturb. Had a great brunch and it was a really lovely day. The place is huge!
Shame about the service because the venue is lovely and overall, has a good vibe.
The food was ok but I was disappointed when we ordered the charred bread. There’s charred and then there’s burnt; and when we asked the waitress, she said that was normal. 5 minutes later the table next to us ordered the same and their was definitely different to our “charred” flatbread.
Given it was Anzac Day, understand the busy period but the place wasn’t even full and the staff were flustered. There were two helpful waiters but the others looked frazzled and just didn’t deliver to what we would have expected for such a venue.
Hopefully you take the service feedback and turn it around.
Unfortunately our booking 4301 for 4 people at 12 noon Saturday 20th April was not in the book. The waiter then told us it had been recorded as Friday 19th April. If the restaurant had been heavily booked, this would have been embarrassing.
I also thought the Pinot Noir by the glass was exceedingly expensive. I had 2 glasses, and it was my fault I did not check the price first off. But even at the Pymble Golf Club, Pinot Noir by the glass is $9.00. At the Fernery is was double that price.
But the beef I ordered was cooked to perfection, but pricey.
We visited on Good Friday for family lunch. The venue is absolutely lovely and beautiful design, we sat inside and was very comfortable seating. The food was delicious with yummy flavours and something on the menu that suited everyone. The only thing that let us down was the service, once we had ordered we never saw the waiter again unless we flagged one down or went up to the bar to ask for someone, paying the bill took about 15 mins. They took a couple of drinks off which was a nice gesture. Next time if its a nice day it would be fun to sit outside. Would recommend .
No, certainly not for breakfast. I eat here regularly in the evening with a group of friends and have nothing but praise for the food, staff and ambience. My guest and I ordered the breakfast burger which was soggy, the bacon was barely cooked as was the sausage which was inedible and repeated no us all day. The coffee was luke warm. All in all a bad experience which we will not repeat. I decided to forgo my usual cafe, Cafe Mosman, to try the Fernery and this was a big mistake. We continued on to Cafe Mosman for another coffee.
Table service not good, no straw in cocktail, no water left on the table, no salt and pepper. Bread was stale with vanilla butter very strange.
After telling waiter we didn’t like the vanilla butter he then offered to bring us the same again?
Expected more to be honest
Never disappoints. This is such a great restaurant with high quality food and fantastic views. I had the wood fired octopus last week and I could have eaten 2 serves it was so good. The staff are super friendly and its hard to find anything to criticize about this place
Beautiful setting and decor perfect for large group on a Sunday. Thankyou for lovely afternoon and accommodating ever increasing numbers. The food was delicious, and came all at the same time and we all enjoyed the afternoon very much. Will definitely come back
We love it here, great venue for a special occasion.
Great value. Awesome gin and cocktail menu. Service was excellent as was the food. Great views of the city and nth Sydney skyline. Will be back!
We enjoyed our meal. Can never understand why restaurants insist on loud music to make conversation more difficult. It suits the staff and young customers who are looking at their phones but not older customers who enjoy talking.
Really good food, with friendly and helpful service. The restaurant was spacious with great views. The desserts were outstanding!
Much better than expected - very good
Great venue, spectacular views, well rounded menu and very accommodating with prams.
Nice setting for a drink. Gnocchi was disgusting (unfortunately 3/8 of our diners ordered it for their mains) and food lacking flavour. It’s a shame because the wine was beautiful and the setting is lovely.
We went to The Fernery on Saturday afternoon but maybe we were there at the wrong time on an overcast day but it was very quiet and no atmosphere so we left and went elsewhere
I booked a table for 8 people but then phoned and changed it to 9. They gave us a table with no view and it was only set for 8. The Menu has changed from the menu on this site and I had a disappointed child who was looking forward to the buttermilk fried chicken burger. The staff forgot to clear our table between courses and the candle I had requested with dessert arrived not lit. We still had a nice evening but I won’t be returning with a large group again.
Fabulous Food service great just a really Great Place, would certainly go back .
Booking online was easy. Service was great. Food was amazing. Ambience lovely. We live in Adelaide but will be back!!
Bitterly disappointed . Disgruntled , rude staff. Dreadful service. Was so looking forward to going. Will NEVER go again.
This is my third visit to The Fernery and it definitely won't be my last visit!
