Good food, great location but the service is lacking. Slow to get water, drinks, and bread. Couldn’t find the waiter when we where through and had to ask someone to find him for us.

The perfect venue for a meal before a performance at Wolf Trap. We reserve a table two hours before showtime which has the added benefit of being able to get a good parking spot.

The atmosphere was great, but the food is comparable to what I like to refer to as "view" restaurants, i.e., they can get away with sub par food and high prices because of the view—or in this case—the location and convenience.

This a great place for a quick meal prior to a concert. Food is reliably good and there are many offerings on the buffet. Cocktails are good also. The setting could not be prettier.

The buffet was pretty good - some of the items could have been hotter but the Mac and cheese is so good! Dessert tray was minimal but lots of chocolate. What really sells this is convenience and the beautiful setting. We’ll be back!

This is a convenient and pleasant way to dine before a show at Wolftrap. The buffet features a wide variety of foods that will please most tastes. I especially enjoyed the rock fish, macaroni and cheese, beef brisket, and chicken paillard. I liked the way desserts were served in small serving sizes, allowing you to sample more than one without feeling stuffed. The servers kept watch over our beverages and were very engaging. The setting, overlooking the fields at Wolftrap made for a good experience.

Pre-show buffet -- large variety of choices. Good salad items. But several hot entree choices were overcooked and dry; some had not been re-plenished on a timely basis. Dessert choices (dried-out bread pudding and small cups of packaged pudding or ice cream) very disappointing. I know it's Wolftrap, but this buffet is overpriced for the quality. Had a better experience (same menu) last year (2022).

We usually have at least one or two Ovations dinners each year, but this dinner was the first since 2021 and first since it became "The Fermented Pig." We went to six performances this summer and tried for dinner reservations for four. All but this one was sold out prior to our attempt to reserve, so we were really looking forward to last night's reservation and we brought our oldest son and his wife. What a disappointment compared to our Wolf Trap dinners over the last thirty years. Perhaps it was a good thing that it had been over two years since our last Ovations dinner because we had memories of the past for comparison. There was nothing to commend the occasion, except for the attentive wait staff. We had an early reservation (5:45), so we looked forward to abundant choices and fresh preparations. Instead, it started with more confined dinner space because of increased number of tables and chairs. Buffet main entree selections were disappointingly limited, low budget, and unappealingly prepared and stuffed into servers. Side dishes were adequate in quantity, but not particularly appealing in quality or timely refreshed when in need. The one improvement over a couple years ago are the choices for vegetarians and salads. However, there were no soups and soup spoons were the only place setting spoon choice. Spare and alternative piece types and napkins were not in evidence. Dessert choices and breads available were a joke, even to non dessert guests such as we. Pies, cakes, puddings, cookies, fruits, ice creams, and toppings of the past were virtually absent. Desserts that were meagerly available were off to the side of the dining area as off-the-shelf minimal afterthoughts. Now calling Wolf Trap dining "The Fermented Pig" should have been our warning that Wolf Trap was likely changing for us in more ways than we ever imagined. Could we change our minds in the future? Sadly, it does not look likely, but please try Wolf Trap.

I had concerns with this being a buffet set up as I am more about quality than quantity. But this place has amazing food. The salads were great. The chicken was moist and delicious. The pulled pork was amazing as was the brisket. The baked bean and string beans were both perfect. The ribs were great. I didn't try the fish or fried chicken or the vegan dishes but everything look fresh. Did save room for the desserts and the apple strudel and brownies were great. There was also sorbet and bread pudding and cookies. So no matter who you bring to dinner here before the show they will get great quality food. Drinks were also great. We had regular and spicy margaritas and they were very good. We booked a 6pm reservation for an 8pm show and got drinks to go. Timing was perfect. Staff waiting on us and staff at the buffet were engaging and it was a great experience.

A ‘captive audience’ does not justify serving overcooked and bland buffet offerings. I have never in my life seen such a lifeless, uninspiring presentation. The ribs and brisket were devoid of any moisture or flavor. The BBQ sauce was never going to offset the crunchy protein as an antidote. For shame, Wolfrap! You can do much better.

Extremely difficult to communicate with the restaurant by phone. Voice messages are left but not returned. Online it says to call the the restaurant for reservations for large parties. We had a party of eight but could never get anyone to answer the phone or return voice messages. We finally made two Open Table reservations for 4 people each. We went to the Fermented Pig a week before our reservation date to combine the reservation into one reservation for 8 people. I would not recommend the Fermented Pig unless it was absolutely necessary for convenience in having dinner before the performance.

We have been long time concert goers at Wolf Trap for years but has always brought our own picnic. We decided to treat ourselves for date night. The food selection was great, plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters. My husband loved the brisket. I thought the corn ribs were fantastic. The setting is beautiful, we didn't feel rushed. We had pavilion seats so didn't need to do the mad dash for good lawn seats. Two things - more protein options for vegetarians are needed. Secondly, having some fresh fruit would have been nice. It's expensive. I don't know that we go for every show but for a date night treat it was lovely.

My wife and I ate diner at The Ferminted Pig while waiting for the concert to see Sting. The staff was great. Out waitress was friendly and welcoming. She got our drinks and kept clearing our plates. The food was excellent. The NC pork shredded and ribs, bratwursts, and everything was really delicious. When we finished eating it was an easy walk without any lines to the pavilion to see the show. Really worth the price.

We were seated overlooking the trail with lovely, breezy weather. Brandon was so helpful, even brought 3 flavors for hot tea so I could choose. Cod and chicken were delicious, the vegetables were fresh and nicely seasoned. The rice crispy treats reminded me of childhood. We really enjoyed the experience before seeing Sting, his son, and his amazing band.

If going to Wolf Trap , this restaurant is convenient to eat beforehand. It's a buffet, but all the good is very good. And it's all fresh. Great veggies, especially the portobello mushrooms. And fantastic brisket, rockfish and fried chicken. Plus the dessert were very tasty. The staff was very attentive to our requests and the outdoor setting was wonderful. Definitely will eat here again.

Having been to Ovations in the past, we were looking forward to enjoying a pre-show meal. While there are numerous selections on the buffet from which to choose, we found the quality of several items to be less than expected. Others were fine and one or two were excellent. The room is noisy, even with the open sides, and the tables are fairly close together making navigating the room, which every diner has to do, sometimes difficult.
