My biggest complaint is that my fried chicken was dry. I was surprised the bread was corn bread. It was fine but I was expecting very good yeast rolls. If the menu had just said corn bread, I probably would not have minded. Also I thought the bread basket would be refilled as is customary at most restaurants.
I really liked the big fire place. The servers were good, more attentive than usual.
Did not have a complaint. Kitchen got a little backed up when we placed our order but such is life. The ambiance of the place is amazing and fun. We really enjoy going there. My filet Mignon was delicious. My wife loved her fish and the kids enjoyed their pizzas and ice cream. Next time we'll just order one pizza. The place was really clean as usual. The service was excellent and very helpful. Excellent job.
I'm not a recommender, no offense. If I were one, I would recommend it though.
The bacon sampler with mustard and Apple chutney was so good. The river was excellent too!
It was a very nice Valentine Dinner. A little pricy but well worth it. Every thing was delicious and the selection made for a very memorable evening. My filet was good but not great. Part of it was a little chewy. I checked and found that it was in Central Time Zone, but it was hard to find this information on the website and on OpenTable. The restaurant is near the time zone dividing line.
The food was great the service was excellent and it was a great night out
Great food. Good atmosphere. The kids even liked the food.
2nd time there and just like the first time, our service was bad and food delayed. There was only 4 of us and the place was not crowded. They messed up our order so 3 of our orders came out but not mine. By the time my food came out everyone one else was done eating. The prices are ridiculous compared to the quality. $75 for a cowboy steak and $50 for an 8oz filet. Truly the food is nothing special, desserts were frozen and not made fresh. We thought the first bad experience was just a fluke but apparently not. We will not return not worth it. You can get the same or better quality at a local steakhouse.
They forgot my husbands food and he got serviced 15 mins after the rest of the table. It took 4ever to get our food. There where multi tables with screwed up orders. For the food u get it was very , very over priced!!
We met at this restaurant because it was 1/2 way point between our friends and us. The food was fine. the wine pours, even though they said they were 6 ozs. were laughable. Our bill was $250 before tip! We had brick chicken, pot pie, fish, and fried chicken. Obviously we had drinks but not much since we were driving. That was a LOT of money for dinner in the middle of nowhere.
food good, nice surrondings, staff great. prices seem a little high for amount of food you get
As many times as we have been to this restaurant, we are never able to sit by the fireplace. There’s always some kind of an excuse why we cannot sit there. That’s disappointing.
The restaurant is so welcoming. Warm decor, HUGE fireplace and a great view of the farm. The food was incredible! I can’t wait to go back to try more food. I live in Indy and it was well worth the drive.
Food was at best ok, the level of cuisine has dropped dramatically. We have had many meals at this restaurant and are hoping our last two visits were a fluke.
Main course was brought out about 3 minutes after the appetizers.
Fries with the main course were cold.
Somebody not paying attention.
The food was good, although a little pricey especially for lunch. However, our waitress was pushy. She kept trying to take the food we were still eating which got very annoying. We are paying $20 per person for lunch, then I am going to eat my entire lunch. There was no need for her to ask to take the plate 3 different times when it was still being eaten. A member of our party had the loyalty/discount card and the waitress was not happy about taking the 10% off our bill.
I will as disappointed by overall experience. I had a steak that was more fat than meat. I asked questions of waitress and I felt she was dismissive. I was a little overwhelmed by all the menus! It was not the best experience!
Everything was delicious! Our server recommended the Brussels sprouts— gross right?? Nope! They were to die for. Seriously!!
Our bartender/server was amazing and the fried chicken and steak were impeccable! Best fried chicken ever! Will be back here.
Food is excellent, place is great, the fireplace is amazing but I felt like a was rush to eat end then leave.
I would recommend it, however, I wouldn’t have high expectations for this place. The food was good, but the atmosphere was not what I expected. The place was too bright from the kitchen lights, and I felt like I was in a cafeteria. The marketing and website made the place look more cozy and intimate.
A very relaxing and festive atmosphere after a long day on the road. Nostalgic decor highlighted with a centrally located fireplace reminded us of years gone by. The pecan crusted walleye and 8oz filet mignon were excellent, however a small loaf of homemade bread and butter with the dinner would have added a nice touch.
We went to The Farmhouse for our anniversary. We enjoyed the evening very much. The food was excellent. We both had the pecan crusted walleye, it was served quickly and hot. The service was great.
Food always delicious. Service was great!! Get a glass of chocolate milk.... best chocolate milk around.
We love The Farmhouse. We have gone there a few times and plan on going back. Love the food and the staff
I’ve dined here a couple of times and the food was consistently good both times, all items ordered. The service, not so much. They delivered the wrong entree the first time I was here which I’m not even sure how that happens. But I let it go and decided to return. This time, the other person in my party ordered the chicken dumplings. The waitress said they ran out the night before so she double checked with the kitchen and was told there was plenty. 20 minutes go by and then the manager comes to tell us they were, in fact, out. OK. So, a new order was placed and we patiently waited another 20 minutes for the food. You’d have thought they would have made some token gesture for the error and delay. Maybe a free drink, an app, or comp the entree entirely. Nope. Instead, we got the check and were not only billed for a drink we didn’t order but the waitress proceeds to tell us she didn’t charge for one of the drinks ordered. We point out that the “free” drink was indeed on the check. So she removes the overcharge but leaves the free one on. Huh? Needless to say, this whole thing was a bit insulting and we will not return. You’d think they would have handled this better but apparently not.
The food was top notch. The service was personal and great(Brandi!). The only quibble was the ambiance of the dining room itself. It had the feel of a summer camp mess hall without the warmth
Amazing pecan crusted walleye. Excellent service from Brien.
I love good, ol' fried chicken. Theirs is very good. I ate the whole half chicken, greens and mashed potatoes and needed nothing more. My tummy was very happy.
Great beer and food.
Order three different meals. All three were very good.
It is a great venue with lots of character. Extremely clean and the staff is very attentive.. The menu has a wide spectrum of midwestern fair to choose from and the kitchen staff executes the dishes so as to not disappoint. Have been there 5-6 times and have never ordered the same thing but quality is always consistent.
Very cozy with open viewing to kitchen - well organized and excellent service. Good was comfort food, very tasty.
We had a reservation and were promptly seated and greeted. Drinks and food were served quickly, and everything was fresh and incredibly delicious.
everyone was courteous and friendly. we had dinner there two nights in a row. the first night the food took longer to be served than I expected. I had the tenderloin sandwich which was good but maybe cooked a little too long and my wife had 1/2 rack of ribs which were prepared very well and was very good. the second night I had the rib-eye and it was excellent. cooked to perfection and not a bad bite on any part of it. my wife had french fries and one of the starters, but we had to ask to have new fries because the first ones weren't hot. so the experience wasn't too much different than other restaurants except for the quality of the steak and it was better than any restaurant steak I have had anywhere.
Always a pleasure at The Farmhouse restaurant. We go for the fried chicken. They give you 4 pieces along with mashed potatoes gravy etc. This visit I decided to try the Brick Chicken! OMG so delicious! The desserts are amazing as well. So much to do on the property as well. Super nice facility.
Food is okay, not great. Service was incredibly slow, and it wasn’t super busy. Our server’s excuse for all delays was his boss was in and sat in his section. Second visit to this location because there is so much potential and we thought our first bad experience was a fluke. Fair Oaks is super cool, the restaurant just doesn’t match the standards for the rest of the property. Will not dine in the restaurant again.
Service was great, but the prices for dinners are high. The French onion soup was delicious, as was the Mac n cheese. My pastrami sandwich had big beautiful marble rye bread, but only a few thin slices of pastrami that had been grilled until it was hard and dry. That was very disappointing.
Best steak I’ve ever had!!! Cut with a butter knife. Great tasting food. Server was on point with checking on us, even with being busy.
Food and service was great
