   Good brunch, excellent service. Ambiance was the only thing that was weird and it has to do with the image that the name THE FARMER'S WIFE projects. You expect a rustic and countrified decor, which is what the interior has. At some point however, you realize that the music playing is 90's alternative satellite radio, and pretty loudly. Listening to Nivana, STP & Bush is not my idea of a downhome dining experience. I'm cannot even image what the 50-60 year olds are thinking about it.... All in all, the odd music selection wouldn't stop me from coming back.

   I was just disappointed. We met for breakfast. The eggs were good, as were the potatoes. The fruit salad was expensive and small and the fruit was bad - inedible. Muffin was delicious. The steak was huge (we couldn't believe the size of the thing) and was good. But they gave my husband a butter knife and when he asked they gave him a huge knife). There were only two servers - understaffed, plus the server we had was not eager to help us. She had an attitude when we asked for more coffee. We waited a long time for everything -- everyone did. This was the worst part. There are much better options in MKE, we'll never go back.

   casual atmosphere, menu offers many choices; really liked you could order sandwiches on bed of lettuce instead of bread; fish tacos excellent; really extensive beer list

   Did not meet expectations. Food prep was uneven for both entrees.

   good food, nice ambience, pleasant staff, they were out of some of the favorites and didn't tell us that when we ordered, but were suitably apologetic

   The service has to improve unfortunately. Good concept and great cornbread but the worst service I have experienced in Milwaukee. Ownership needs to make table visits to check on customers during dinner to coieect5 and rectify situations while you are still a guest.

   We decided to try this restaurant after an article appearing in the newspaper. Not many restaurants serve beer batter shrimp so I wanted to try them. We got 1 fish fry and 1 shrimp fry and split it. Both were very good and not greasy which made happy!!! We both decided that we will come back. I would also say our server was very busy, but didn't forget us and we say thank you.

   Great find. They were recently in the MKE paper, so have been quite busy. Even with that, they were very friendly and efficient. This is not Applebees people. Everything is made fresh from scratch daily. Which means, sometimes they run out of things on the menu. It is home cooking at its best. The meatloaf was VERY good

   Good food. Loved the sautéed greens. Nice touch serving complementary cornbread. Food took a long time to arrive though and the restaurant was not busy. I will return.

    This was our second time at The Farmer's Wife. We love the casual homelike atmosphere, with open windows. Our favorites were the Gumbo, which we all said we would have again and the pot roast which was very good and the pot pie which was excellent. The dish that wasn't so good was the shrimp, too few and small. We will definitely be back to this quant non pretentious spot!!
