Great service always, but the food is mediocre at best. Its a great location and fun place but they need to step up the food game.
First time at Farmer’s Union. Went before seeing Wicked at Performing Arts Center. Great server, Rose, was able to banter with our party who like to engage and kid around with the server. The food was great...the Brussels sprouts dish was the best I have ever had. The mushroom cigar was unique and tasty too. My husband and I had the Impossible burger and thought the preparation and taste was great. Loved the ambience of the restaurant too and we will certainly be back!
Farmers Union upped the game this time. We had a lovely table for our party of 7 just a bit away from everyone in a tiny alcove. It was perfect for our birthday celebration and the waitress was great. Corkage is reasonable so we brought a few bottles too.
Entrees were absolutely amazing. Cesar salad was decent. Wait staff were great!!!
Great food, excellent craft beer list with rotating taps. Nice atmosphere, with screens at the bar to watch sports. But feels like a nice restaurant, not a sports bar.
Back room seating is extremely loud. Loved the service and the food but would dine in the back room again.
Fun place to celebrate as the atmosphere is lively but also loud and difficult to hear in a table of 7. Our servers were friendly but not really attentive enough considering the price of the meals. The food was good. Ask for any BBQ sauce on the side or you may get more than you want on the food. The biscuits were delicious.
We where seated in a room to ourselves (8) of us, so we had a great time. Food was delicious, service was very good. We will definitely eat here again. Crap Benedict was a big hit as was the burrito breakfast. Bloody Mary’s where very good.
We had a good time. The food was good and the atmosphere fun. We sat outside and there were games and families enjoying the street games
We've eaten here before so maybe it was just an off night.
I had requested (via open table the server was attentive except we had to ask 3 times for another wine glass to be brought to the table. 3 of the 4 meals were not that great. 1 was too salty, another bland and the 3rd was so covered in BBQ that it was difficult to eat.
Great food and service.
The food is fabulous here! We had an assortment of dishes and shared them. I highly recommend this place.
Louder than I typically like.
Our anniversary was perfect. The host was aware that our reservation was for an anniversary but after seating us immediately swooped us up and moved us to a more appropriate booth as requested and the waiter treated us like royalty. The food and service has always been spectacular but choosing The Farmers Union for our anniversary dinner was the best choice. We are still raving about it.
I had an amazing time here with my husband
All around awesome experience. Accommodated our reservation last minute, great outdoor seating. Service was excellent and our food was wonderful. Brussels sprouts app was proclaimed best ever, union salad was very good, biscuits super tasty and drink selection broad. Will absolutely be back to work our way though the menu, so many tasty options so small stomach room!
Great fresh food with a fun atmosphere. Would definitely come back to try more dishes.
Great meal and excellent service ! Seated in a booth which minimizes noise - cocktails were perfect, fried chicken out of this world topped off by scrumptious creme brûlée for dessert - a wonderful evening celebrating friendship - our go to place in SanJose - always enjoy the Farmers Union restaurant
The service is always phenomenal, the food is well prepared and delicious, overall always a great experience.
It was just perfect. We were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We got there early and they had the table ready for us. We had a very nice time.
Average food and service but the drinks menu is decent and the location and vibe make it a convenient spot to go out with friends or coworkers.
Great food, just stopping on our way home from Monterey Bay. Usually eat dinner before Sharks game and lunch fare was just as good. Server didn’t charge for wine I didn’t care for when I ordered a different one. Very nice!
Eaten there before and everything was great. Unfortunately this time it wasn't as good. It was a hot weekend so I think air conditioning wasn't working at full capacity. Our service was slow and not very attentive and the food was overcooked. Wanted to go out on a Saturday night and be waited on in a nice comfortable restaurant but sadly that didn't happen. Could have made everything better at home and saved about $100.
Food was really good. Tried a sampling of apps and salads. They came really quick and one was better than the next. Split a burger for dinner. Really flavorful and juicy.
We were really excited to try the food here! We had come for drinks before and loved the extensive on draft beer options.
From the look of their menu, it seems as if BBQ would be their specialty. But their house BBQ sauce tastes like ketchup. If your a fan of sweet SWEET BBQ sauce then you’re in luck. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
First time in San Jose and we found this great place for lunch where the locals go. We ate outside along the sidewalk and enjoyed the views. Great food and great menu. Highly recommend!
We sat at the bar & Jesus provided excellent service. Answered all our questions & then some for food & drinks & really gave us a great experience! We will be coming back.
Not worth it. Basically a sports bar trying to appear a foodie site. Service just ok, slow. Food okay, but presentation messy/unappetizing. Would not return.
The food was horrible. Service was worse and the place smelled like cigarette smoke
Food was fabulous as always. This was our third time here and the service we have had on each visit was very sub-par. It took more than 30 minutes to get our initial drink order of two glasses of wine and two beers. We arrived at 4pm and were the second table seated. It’s not like they were packed! While we really like the food we are not much into a two hour casual dinner. We may have to pass on The Farmers Union in the future.
Very poor timing for the food- we’d just gotten our appetizers when our entrees came out. And then they brought the two desserts we ordered minutes apart. Food was good.
I patronized the Farmers Union on consecutive days. I was part of a huge party both nights (16 people or so). Both nights, the dinner was about three hours long. The first night, an inexperienced server was assigned to us. It took an hour for many of us to get our drinks. Not alcohol drinks either, but drinks like iced tea. This is unacceptable. Things were better when a more experienced server took over. Still, there should have been multiple people attending to us. It’s not about accommodating us but the restaurant would have benefited from having us finish earlier so other dinner parties can come in and take their place. Overall, the food was great but if you have a large party, dine here with caution. Be prepared to stay for a very long time.
What a great place in downtown San Jose! Love the interior, and the outdoor seating is really nice. Highly recommend The Farmers Union.
Suited during Dine downtown and ordered pre fixe menu. Was quite dissatisfied with the food.
Great place to celebrate or just go to dinner before the theatre. Farmer’s Union has a delightful cocktail menu and a fabulous beer menu worth just reading, and the beers are excellent. Our food was delicious and since we are gluten free, it was well marked and the staff was knowledgable about the menu. The only small annoyance was that our table was near the open door and smoke kept drifting in from the street, which is not the fault of the restaurant.
We went there before a show at the SAP Center. It was crazy busy but we had a reservation so we did not have to wait long for our table. We got our drinks, food, and bill in a timely fashion so we did not have to stress about getting to the show on time. The drinks and food were delicious as always!
Great food. Large servings. Good beer selection. Great Service. Wonderful before something at SAP center. But very noisy.
Not a fan of the food, but the server was great and working his tail off.
This restaurant was recommended by my brother so we made reservations before attending a concert. We arrived early and were seated right away. We had made reservations for patio seating, Thank Goodness, because even though it was early and the restaurant was far from full it was LOUD. I hate the trend of restaurants with open floor plans and no fabric, carpet or anything to absorb noise.
The outdoor seating was great and it was fun to people watch. Our server was attentive and nice and did not rush us as we lingered over our dinner.
The food was just ok. I don't think it was great. I had the lamb burger which was tasty but the bread was a bit soggy when topped with the sauces etc. I took the bun off. The fries were good but such small little pieces, like all broken up. Daughter had a steak which was pretty good. She did not eat the egg as it was kind of rubbery. Her boyfriend had fish and chips which he said were bland. My husband enjoyed his brisket and it was tasty but the portion was kind of small. The calamari app was yummy, the biscuits were super over rated.
Overall I think there are enough other choices in downtown that I'd try someplace else before heading back here.
Perfectly located in downtown, walking distance from work and to SAP Center. Great food choices, yummy cocktails, friendly service and a great place to meet with friends!
