Service was fantastic. The hostess sat us outside first, per my request, but my colleague was cold so we moved back inside. I wish I knew our server’s name. The receipt shows Bar P. She was attentive, checking on us often, and refilling drinks when needed. The timing of the food coming out was great. The food was ok, nothing that stands out. We ordered the ahi tuna tartare and chicken wings for appetizers. We asked that the wings be made more crispy and the sauce on the side. My colleague and I had the beer battered and chips. The fish batter was oily and had a vinegar taste so I’m assuming they add the malt vinegar to it. I wish they hadn’t. The soggy fries could have been better. Overall, not returning for the food.

The service was horrible. It was a night of a popular artist concert and they were understaffed. I’m sure this restaurant and others close to the venue. Expect to have large crowd on concert night. They were under prepared. Took us 47 minutes to get our drinks ! Another 30 minutes for our food. And the bartenders and the servers were completely rude because they were so overwhelmed.

When we arrived, there were only a few other people dining in the indoor dining room. The hostess ushered us to a table for two next to a wall and a bank of booths. I immediately asked to be seated near the front window and she obliged. It was confusing why she would attempt to seat us at such an undesirable table when there was almost no one there. There were three servers chatting near the bar and they ignored us for 5-10 minutes, then one finally brought us some water. She left without getting our drink orders. We asked if there was a happy hour menu since the website advised happy hour was from 3p-6p and she brought us one menu to share. Again, we were not sure why she didn’t bring two since the restaurant was nearly empty. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and my husband ordered the fish and chips. The chicken was so dry and hard that parts were as hard as a stone. Interestingly though, it wasn’t that warm and parts were semi-cold. In my opinion, they are pre-cooking the chicken and then reheating it in a microwave because there was no moisture left in it. When I sent it back, I just asked for them to remove it from the bill and said I did not want it replaced. The server brought a replacement and this time it was completely warm but again, it was very overcooked. This time though, there was a small amount of moisture. However, it was horrible. Sadly, the chicken on a salad at McDonalds is 1000 times better. My husband said the fish was greasy, but it was ok. I am not sure how this place has such high reviews. The server was inattentive,the food was bad, and the hostess had no common sense and didn’t even give us the right menus when they were not busy at all. I would definitely NOT recommend this place.

Our server was articulate and came to our table at the right times, not too often. She was eager serve. Nice. Food presentation was good. Good size servings. Chicken was a bit dry. We ordered their grilled veggie platter and beet salad with chicken on top with a side of roasted potatoes. It would be nice if there were rice or quinoa to make the meals a little more healthy. The veggie platter was lacking in flavor. It could use some fresh herbs and Extra-virgin olive oil. A lot of restaurants seem to be using canola oil like this one. And I think that’s where the flavor is lacking. Extra-virgin olive oil adds much better flavor to food. The Farmer’s Union has lots of seating options. Nice sized restaurant. Nice wine list. The overall experience at The Farmer's Union restaurant was awesome. The food was delicious and piping hot when received. The service was very attentive and warm. The atmosphere was very inviting, energetic but not overly noisy. Look forward to eating there again!!
